Rocks up 3-0. Nice. I still think Philly wins the series but I hope Colorado does.

BTW this might be the fattest crowd I've ever seen. Lay off the cheese steaks.

If every team played up to their potential every game then you are probably right. That doesn't happen in the playoffs. Who you play isn't nearly as important as how they are playing. Any team can get hot and win it. How many times have the best teams won it lately?

06: Cards over Detroit. St. Louis barely made the playoffs. They might have been the worst of the 8 playoff teams.

05: White Sox over Astros. Again, the Sox tanked in the second half and barely made the playoffs. Questionable play in series with Anaheim.

04: Red Sox over Cards. Red Sox were down 0-3 in a series to NY. Yankees collapse allowed them to move on.

03: Marlins over Yanks. Florida should have lost to Cubs. Chicago fans blame Bartman (though I think that is a cop out).

02: Anaheim over SF. The definition of a team getting hot and beating clubs that were better than them.

01: Arizona over Yanks. Yanks had won 3 WS in a row. A's and M's both had 100+ wins that year.

You could argue the best team hasn't won the WS for the last 6 years. Not since the Yanks dynasty has the best team in the regular season gone on to dominate the post season. Anyhow, my point is that any NL club this year can beat any AL club for the World Series.

Yea, this series is a toss up. After this game both teams are going throw mediocre-average pitchers. Both lineups are damn good and I think the pens are even maybe a slight edge to the Rocks.

I got Cleveland and Anaheim advancing but I hope Anaheim's SP lets them down.

I also got Chicago & Colorado moving on.

Excellent argument and you backed it up well. However, I will not agree on 2002. The Angels started that season 6-14 and finished the season 93-49 for a record of 99-63. The Angels were flat out awesome all season except for the first 3 weeks. They rolled the Yankees and Twins after losing the first game in every series and beat SF after Dusty gave away the game 6 ball ..... in the 6th inning.

Angels were hands down the best team that season. Sure they were the wild card but unlike the Yankees who beat up on crap teams all season long in their division the Angels had to contend with Oakland who won 103 games that season and Seattle who won 116 games the season before.

I don't know, I just don't think this Angels team is all that great. Vlad while still a damn good hitter looks like he is breaking down. Who else in that lineup is scary?

I think Boston is a terrible matchup, especially if you believe in past performances. Want to be nervous? Check out Lackey's history against Boston.

Unfortunately the first three weeks count as part of the season. So do the last three weeks, something the Mets forgot. The Yanks, Braves, and A's finished with 100+ wins that year. You're making my point for me with regards to the SF series. If the Angels really were "hands down the best team that season" they wouldn't have been down three games to two against the NL wild card team. In a game the Giants had all but wrapped up.

The AL West was good in 02. The M's had 90 something wins that year and Oak won the division. The Yanks still had to contend with 2 other teams in their division that had better records than Texas. It's not like every team in the AL East that year had 65 wins.

The Angels lost the season series to Boston, Oakland, New York, Minnesota, and Seattle. In other words, they didn't win a single season series against any AL team with a winning record that year. Yet they rolled two of them in the playoffs. Why? They got hot, that's why.

I'm not dogging the Angels here. There is nothing wrong with playing well at the right time and riding that to a championship. ****, I wish the Dodgers could do it... but to say Anaheim was the best team that year would be as foolish as saying the Cards were the best team last season.

OrangePuck, I'm the complete opposite of you. I think the Angels can not beat the Red Sox in a 7 game series, but they can in a 5 game series.

If the Angels can get through Boston though, I too... am very confident that the Angels can run every other team over. Let's end this stupid east coast bias from the media. Hopefully the Angels can do that.

You guys are both being silly. The Angels can beat Boston in either type of series.
