ASU over Clemson
Rice over LSU
Virginia over Mississippi
Florida St over Arkansas
CSUF over Louisville
Oops..............so far I am 1 win & 3 losses in game #1......lucky it's two out of three but it's not looking good.....
I wasn't able to make the game last night but happened to catch the 6th inn on. That Dominguez kid is a beast and has pretty impressive numbers for the season. But last night he, like all the Cardinals, were free swinging and made it pretty easy for Renken who was unhittable.
We'll see what happens today. Hopefully our freshman all-american can close it out.
I was able to make it out to Sat's game. I was a little disappointed in Louisville's performance. They looked way overmatched. I'm surprised they won the Big East.
As for that Dominguez kid, he hit 2 bombs. Crushed them. He looked a little stupid though rounding the bases fistpumping and grabbing his crotch, especially when you're down 5-0 and 6-1. He had a chance to really put his team back in the game but K'd with a runner on and the score 6-2.
With Miami out of the conference, the Big East is a pretty awful baseball conference. So winning it isn't all that impressive anymore.
From what I've read/seen/heard Louisville just couldn't handle Fullerton's speed and CSUF just ran them out of the game so to speak. They should be a tough team to beat in Omaha. Their first game will be against Arkansas and that will be a really fun game.
Regarding Dominguez, how did he look at defensively. His power is well known and he could be a nice pickup for the Dodgers somewhere around 4-5. But there's talk that he'll have a hard time staying at third since he's such a big dude.
ASU is going for the sweep today. Our ace who I think was the best pitcher in college baseball this year (Strasburg notwithstanding) was hit the hardest I've ever seen him hit and he still gutted out a win. Clemson is a pretty good ball club and today won't be easy.
If you get a chance to watch, you'll get a kick out of our starter Josh Spence. He comes from every different angle and tops out at about 80. But he can change speeds so effectively. It really is fun watching him work.
Dominguez handled all the routine stuff. He did make some nice throws to first when the Titans tried bunting his way. Sort of like Adrian Beltre's across the body throws when he fields a bunt.
He's 6-4/6-5 and about 240ish. He might be better suited to play 1B. His stature kinda reminds me of Derek Lee.
