Thread: Umpire Jim Joyce ruins Detroit P Armando Galarraga's perfect game

Fail of the year, easily.

Galarraga had 8 2/3 IP perfect. Jason Donald hits a grounder to 1B Miguel Cabrera's right, Cabrera backhands it and tosses to Galarraga covering first. Donald was out by half a step and Joyce calls him safe.

Unreal.

Wikipedia had him listed as dead today for a good 20 minutes until editing was locked.

Even the the runner and pitcher both get to the bag at the same time, wouldn't he think about giving it to the pitcher in that situation? BUT he was clearly out, so so terrible.

WTF is up with all the no hitters and perfect games lately? Not trying to take away from such a feat but what the ****?

Apparently players aren't taking steroids anymore.

This is despicable. I don't care what the "rules" are in MLB. It's a blown call. They realized it. Everybody agrees. It's a fact. No doubt about it. So change it to a perfecto. It's not like they're messing with the Declaration of Independence here.

You can tell Joyce feels like a douche. If they had the balls to open up that can of worms, they would change it, but that creates a bit of a slippery slope.
