Dodger are alright, but I'm a born and raised Angels fan... Go Gels!!!
Dodger are alright, but I'm a born and raised Angels fan... Go Gels!!!
Don't tell me there are Angels fans in L.A... that's really embarassing.
I have been a life long angel fan, stuck by them thick and thin....they will always be my team!!!!
No offense to Angels fans on this board but how do you root for a Anaheim team living in L.A.? you have to lack serious common sense to like a team from a small/smaller city if you are from such a big city like Los Angeles (unless you do live in Anaheim or you were raised Angels fan by your parents in which case your parents lack serious common sense)
I'd be really embarassed. I was raised and still live in O.C. but just for the fact that I was born in L.A., I root for L.A. teams.
For biased fans that doesn't get what I'm saying, that's like a guy from New York City rooting for the Nets not the Knicks or a guy rooting for the Buffalo Bills not the NY football Giants.
What is your view on bandwagon fans? I'm talking about the people here who like the Yankees or Red Sox. The people who like the Red Wings or the Bulls (when they had Jordan).
Those type of fans are way horrible compared to the ones who live here.
For the Kings/Ducks and Dodgers/Angels... so what if these teams are in another county? It's still close by, and they are still local teams.
I would much rather drive 40 minutes to see the Angels than drive 20 minutes to see the Dodgers from where I live.

Angels are fun. They've got Fat Mike and Vladdy and GA. With Baseball it's very easy to root for an AL and NL team.

My view on bandwagon fans.. some people don't care about geographics and don't care about local teams; they just like winners. (That's their opinion so I can't really say much)
But if you do care about geographics, I would go for the home team always. Yes, the Angels are in SoCal, but are they really a LA team?
I mean.. don't Angels fans in L.A. know that majority of Angels fans HATE L.A. and Angelinos with a passion? (I live in O.C.)
L.A. and O.C. is like L.A. and S.D.; no way are they the same.
L.A. is a big big city, one of the best cities in the US/world but Anaheim is a small city no one knows. Anaheim is known as a place pretty close to L.A. where Disneyland is.
I don't know how else I can explain how embarassing it is to like a team from Anaheim living in L.A.
Once again, that's like a guy/girl from New York City rooting for a team in county side like the Buffalo Bills, not the NY football Giants.
(Just my honest opinion and I'm not attacking anybody, in case it seems that way. I respect everyones opinion but in this case I just don't understand.)
It's all good. It's your opinion and that's the way it is.
I don't see how it's embarrassing for someone to like the Angels while living in Los Angeles. I think that's just your own problem that you can't deal with though. I doubt Dodger fans who are from the O.C are embarrassed about liking the Dodgers.
Of course Angel fans know that Los Angeles doesn't really like the Angels. But as an Angel fan, who cares? I like the Angels and that's all that matters.
Yes, the owner went as far as renaming the team to be the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Again, who cares? Angel fans could care less about the L.A. name in front of their team. We all like watching the team called the Angels.
I personally don't care that the Anaheim Angels got renamed to the L.A. Angels either. I understand the situation. I had many online friends at the time who had no idea where Anaheim was when the Angels won the World Series in 2002. Who can blame them? We're close enough to L.A. as it is.
You can't always associate the Angels with "Disneyland" over and over. In fact, I find it funny when Dodger Stadium always have an advertisement behind home plate that says "Disneyland" on it.
This isn't about city pride. Especially in baseball. You're talking AL and NL. Until they meet each other nonstop in the World Series, they really are just two different teams. But in hockey, division rivals... it's a huge no-no.
