This really puts it into perspective for me. Thanks, Space_Shot.

I loved the deal from the start, but seeing the pariculars (that I didn't want to have to look up) laid out like that makes it the perfect steal. I wanted Mark Teixeira last year, but you're right - the asking price was too much. This is an absolute steal. I had really grown to like Kotchman alot - he's become a great hitter and he's still getting better. But Teixeira is is already there and still young.

I'll be pissed if we don't sign him. But they say his agent is looking for 10 years at $230 million. I'd let K-rod if I had to. Our closing bullpen is solid with Sheilds and Arredondo. Word is K-rod wants $20mil per... and as good as he is, I think he's too erratic for that kind of money.

...and then there's Guerrero's contract as currently the highest paid Angel...

I'm not sure giving him the 200 mil will be that hard. I'm all for letting K Rod walk and as much as i like GA, he's 36 and i have no problem letting him walk as well.

So with the 16+mil your not paying K Rod and GA coming off the books, there's your 20mil to sign Teixeira. I actually think, if the Angels win it all, it won't be hard to resign him. Who wouldn't want to play in So Cal, on the best team in baseball with an owner who wants to win and a place that plays near capacity every home game.

The problem may be getting Vald an extention.
