If you want to see why Reina isnt in the top 5 goalies in the league watch the Liverpool Man Utd game of today........
Great shot stopper he's dodgy in the air and some very questionable decision making. And thats about standard for him I think. I'd take a concussed Cech, Given, James, Jaskelainen (and I cant even spell his name) Green ahead of him any day of the week...and theres likely a few more too.
Oh and much as I dont like them Man U were totally different class to Liverpool before and after the sending off today...... they are a really great side :(

The only keeper in the list you gave that I think you have an arguement for is Cech. James is good an unfairly maligned but having watched both Reina and James from the Kop for me there is no comparison - I'd take Pepe every time. He's no worse than James in the air and his decision making is better, I'd also say Pepe is a better shot stopper than James although it is close. Most importantly he has an air of confidence about him and bouces back well from bad games, which in themself are rare. The thing with James is that can send his defence into panic - probably based on reputation more than anything else.
Reina also has a superb clean sheet record in his Anfield career - 54 in 100 games. People may give the defence credit for that, but Carragher has been pretty ordinary the last 18 months, Big Sami is past his best and Agger, our best defender, has been injured most of the season.
You question Reina in the air, then say you'd take Green who is worse in the air and not as good a shot stopper. Jussi ( I can't spell his surname either!) is also well past his sell by date and has been exposed this season - 2 years ago you may have had a case. Given has been out played by Harper this season for Newcastle, and whilst a good keeper has not been consistent this past 12 months.

Strange but true, David James is the only goalie to be nominated for player of the year. If James could have eliminated the 2 or 3 major errors a season that he makes he would have easily been the best goalie in the Premier league since Schmeichel.

I'd agree. DJ has all the tools. To be fair he is far more consistent these days and his concerntration is sooo much better. However every mistake is now over highlighted and his 'calamity' reputation means that when an error does happen he can fall to pieces, as much as anything because his defence loose the plot. His last start for England pre Capello was a great exmple of this.

David James just had another one of "those" moments vs Man city today.

Didnt see this discussion going on
That was Sol's fault entirely if you ask me. As for the rest of them I disagree entirely Statto. Having watched Reina over the last few weeks Id in fact rank him even lower than I thought. I just don't rate him at all as a top rank keeper.
Given will still come back as number one at Newcastle when he's fit and I love Harper for everything he's done as a number 2 and probably the best reserve keeper in the league alongside Cudicini (who is also better than Reina)

I agree to a certain degree, however James is already comming for that ball hence why Sol stopped dead in his tracks, James should have stayed in his goal and just let the D take care of it.

If Reina wasn't a top 5, then he very well should be now.
