Right now, the U.S MNT has no business going into any major tournaments expecting to win hardwares. They have not even proven they can consistently reach the quarterfinals of the World Cup to be considered "overrated" like England or Spain.
Unlike many Brazilian players who have decided to take a break from Copa America, U.S players don't play against top notch oppositions in the Champions League or Copa Liberatores 10 months out of the year, year in year out.
So they need to look up from the Concacaf and see the Copa America as an oppurtunity for the players, managers, and the program to grow, and not to win trophies.
More on delusional Man City fans...

hmmm...will Steve Bruce get 50M pound to spend on players?
They just won the Gold Cup. Now they'll be getting their asses beat in South Africa a year prior to getting their asses beat in South Africa, instead of getting their asses beat in Venezuela three years beforehand so they can't even remember how their asses were beaten when it comes time to have them beaten in South Africa.
Also, the US men aren't going to completely forsake their domestic league by taking even more time off. Some people actually care about it.
Yaya Toure is official for FC BARCELONA!!! (giggle giggle)
Chivu's agent is in Barcelona to finalize the deal, and french fullback Abidal has threatened to not show up to training if Lyon does not sell him to Barcelona ( a la Diarra)...

By the way, does anyone have as much a problem as I do keeping in touch with this thread? Because of the wide range of topics, leagues, players, etc.. that are discussed in this thread, I don't visit it as much as some of the other threads and sometimes, I get lost or fall back because of it. Anyone else experience the same? Should a new thread be created and maybe this time seperating some of the leagues? Food for thought...
