The Galaticos were pretty damn successful. Ronaldo never won a Champions League, but they won La Liga while he was there. Zidane won Champions League twice, Figo once.

I think Manchester City's problem at first will be attracting players, yea they have ton of money, but while money is everything for certain players, I don't know if the same holds true for everyone. Prestige still matters and it will take a few seasons for City to attract the players they want. And still success isn't guaranteed.

For example, they want David Villa and Fernando Torres. While I'm sure this Dubai dude can triple their wages, is that where they really want to be? Same with Ronaldo, I don't think a ton of money will convince him to play for City(part of that is me just hoping). I'd imagine that club prestige still matters to him.

    Yup.

The Galactico's did win with Zidane and most importantly Makelele, once they let him go to Chelsea they were pretty much 2nd fiddle to Barcelona.

City may or may not get all of this generation's proven stars, but we have to look at their impact down the road the same way many of today's kids are supporting Chelsea. The odds of City making the Champions League on a year to year basis will only increase, and that is a great selling point. As long as Abu Dhabi are in it for the long haul, which is most likely their intention, they will get their share of next generation superstars.

So Chelsea managed to fxxk the Robihno deal up.

Football365.com - ROBINHO: SHIRT BLUNDER STOPPED ME JOINING CHELSEA - All The News - Football365 News

"Robinho has revealed that Chelsea's mistake of putting shirts emblazoned with his name up for sale on their website prevented him from moving to Stamford Bridge."

    ucsdguy1 remeber this?

USA/Cuba WC qualifier @ Havana tonight on ESPN Classic (5pm PDT), seems like the US team has received a warm reception so far, a far cry from the BS they had to deal with in Guatemala.

That's because the US government has been involved in Guatemala for over 35 years, the Cuban's haven't had the pleasure of knowing what *******s Americans are.
