BBC are saying this is a deal. I think this is poor for Barca, how does a player of Etoo's stature who has actually performed and won the Champions league be so completely undervalued against a guy who is not very consistent in big matches.
Also, Ibra is only one year younger than Eto'o.

Inter got a steal. All that money plus Eto'o. It will be interesting to see if Eto'o will be able to adapt to Seria A. I think he'll do fine, but it's not the easiest transition.

I think Eto'o was undervalued for sure and Barca overpaid. Barca got frustrated by being turned down for a very reasonable ($42 millio euro) offer for David Villa and pulled the trigger here. Barca was also eager to deal Eto'o sooner than later because there would have been plenty of dirty laundry aired had Eto'o returned to Spain.

I like Zlatan, but Eto'o was MONEY. Don't also forget though that Barcelona basically runs through Xavi in the midfield and I'm pretty sure any striker would do well in the system with Iniesta/Henry and Messi on the wings.

If/when Xavi leaves there is only one player in the world who could probably replace him.

EDIT: LOL at Pique standing next to the goalie.

It's hard to say. Had they just paid for Villa they would have spent about $42 million and had an opportunity to sell Eto'o at around $25-30. Man U closing the door, AC Milan crying poverty, and Man City also closing the door made it practically impossible to move him.
Hleb and Gudjonsen were going to get moved as well and when all is said and done Barca could have broken even. Barca really overpaid, but they got their first choice in Zlatan. This will come back to haunt them, it always does...

Xabi Alonso nears 32m move to Real Madrid from Liverpool - mirror.co.uk

22m pounds + Wesley Schneider + Negredo, with the cash to buy David Silva.

That could be a problem in itself. One of the best things about Eto'o was he never really needed the ball for too long to be a threat. He was great at playing off the last man, getting that incisive pass and finishing off a movement with a well placed goal. He never really had to or wanted to dribble through a maze of defenders to score or be effective. Ibrahimovic wants to have the ball at his feet, he wants to dribble through defenses. With Messi and Henry playing a similar style and Xavi and Iniesta running the midfield there could be a clash of styles. It will all come down to whether or not Zlatan is willing to change his game a bit.

    This shiznit is gaining momentum.

Schneider, Silva, with/without Negredo, will mitigate the loss of Xabi.

Sneijder is a good player. Great passer with vision to match. A bit of a lightweight though and he's a bit soft.

Agreed, and a much better shooter than Xabi.

For two years, Benitez wanted to replace Xabi with someone quicker. I hope he doesn't break up the Gerrard/Torres tandem up front.

Yea, that's true more of an eye for goal, powerful two feet as well. Partnered with Mascherano he should be fine against most sides. He'll probably struggle against the physical teams like the Blackburns and the Stoke Cities.
