Benitez got a lot of stick over here for some of his decisions on Saturday, I am of the opinion that he made the right decision with regards to taking Torres off.
I am however of the opinion that it's Benitez's fault that there is no replacement out there of a standard that is close to Torres on the Liverpool team, Voronin is prolific on smaller teams in lesser leagues but just not cutting it at Liverpool, I am not talking about another Torres, just someone with an ability to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
An interesting read from former Liverpool player Alan Hansen.

Oh and would'int you believe it but Pellegrini is on the hotseat. Perez still has not worked out that you cant spend millions on players and then just expect them to play like superstars within a hanfull of games.

Crouch got lucky. Had Fernando arrived right after Liverpool bought Crouch, Crouch wouldn't last two seasons with the club.
Robbie Keane had his chance when Torres was out injured. He went 6 consecutive weeks without scoring a goal. You'd be lying if you say you were pissed about Liverpool selling Keane when Liverpool were on a goal scoring tear while playing some amazing football in their title chase in May. Torres didn't play every match since January and his back ups were doing a marvelous job filling in.
Whether he stayed or not, Robbie Keane cannot play as a lone striker and would have left anyway because this is a World Cup year.
I doubt the players are losing faith in Benitez. It's odd for anyone to be part of a team that played great attacking football and defense in a fierce title race and Champions league run, and turn on the manager in just 6 months.
Story of the season for Liverpool. Completely controlling the game, playing with creativity but losing at halftime.

While you always want to see the big stars/teams in the major international tournaments it is always fun to root against the French.
Hope the Boys in Green can pull a rabbit out of their hat in the second leg.
