The ref fell for EVERY dive, not just the Spanish. He killed all flow of the game, but you have to blame the players for making contact at every turn. Soccer isn't meant to be a contact sport because of this reason.

Either way the better team won, although Arjen Robben blew his chances.

Netherlands were lucky to have 11 players on the pitch for most of the game, hell they were lucky they had 11 to start the 2nd half after that dirty kick on Xabi Alonso.

Some gamebreaking ref mistakes pretty much ruined the legitimacy of this whole tournament.

There is a real world cup hang-over here today, apparently record ammounts of people have not gone in to work today and then general consesus here on talk radios is one of depression that the party is over.

The football was not the best going by some margin, but the organising here and the support from the locals was amazing. A lot of people were worried that once S.A. were knocked out of the cup that local support would wane off. But so many South Africans picked a team to support and did so with gusto.

What has surprised me the most about this world cup was the support from white people here, about twenty years ago my friend and I used to attend matches here at the old green-point stadium and we were always the only whites in the crowd at a sport that was perceived as a "black sport." It seems that the football world cup has had the same effect on whites as the Rugby world cup had on the majority population in 1995.

I will be leaving with a treasure load of memories that has more to do with the off field cameraderie between fans and the african style that was infused in to the atmosphere than anything else.
