Argentinians are just about the only nation that cares about this Olympic tournament.

Not entirely true. The United States has always taken the Olympics seriously (not surprising) and Italy sent a strong squad last time.

Brazil seems to want to finally win gold this year as well. They are sending a strong sie.

It's not about how strong side they send to tournament. I'm talking about how enthusiastic people in their home country are about the tournament. For European countries it's a third tier tournament, the media coverage is weak.

    Argentinians care about it because:
    - they won it last time
    - they care a lot about their young players; that's the time when they can still dream about "new maradona's"
    - they don't have a choice, because they are so frustrated with their senior team

I prefer a nice European Champions League Qualification match over an Olympic tournament match.

Change your first point to "the only senior trophy they haven't won" and the second point with "dream about new Pele's" and you just described how Brazil feels about this upcoming tourney.

Well I've predicted Argentina-Brazil finals a couple of months ago and I certainly hope it happens. That will certainly be a match I will be watching.

    Barca 6 - NY RB 2

Eto'o keeps makin his case to stay on the team with another 2 goals in a little over 45 minutes of play time. Of course it helps him to have Xavi and Iniesta feeding you. BTW, it must make Real Madrid so jealous that they can't home grow their own midfield talent, they have to go buying all the dutch midfielders they can buy.

Anyone watch #27 Pedro Rodriguez for Barca in the 2nd half, the kid is GOOD. Jeffren Saurez also had some nice moves, and Bojan was outstanding considering he didn't get the service he's used to.

Pique looked like GARBAGE. He's replaced Oleguer as the new Barca whipping boy, you heard it here first. Victor Valdez also looked ****ty, AGAIN.

    Guardiola >>>>> Rijkaard

EDIT, RE: Leo Messi: Guardiola has stated that even though the courts have decided in Barca's favor that it is important to keep Messi happy, so in my opinion, they will allow Messi to remain in Beijing.

I guess one of them will eventually end up with Liverpool.
