His touch on Johnson's goal is equally as good as the ones he scored. It's really cool to see a player with high expectations begin to meet them. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work out that way, but he now seems to have been able to take the struggles and the pressure and grow from them.

Great game. Even when they were down 2-0, they were looking dangerous pretty frequently. Johansson looked great, silky silky touch

This is the most important part of the notes:

A total of eight players on the U.S. roster are carrying yellow cards. Their next caution will result in a one-match suspension: Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley, Geoff Cameron, Brad Evans, Clint Dempsey, Tim Howard, Fabian Johnson and Jermaine Jones.

Can't afford to lose anyone for the Mexico match...

I would absolutely love if they wrapped up qualification by winning in costa rica so the Mexico game can be lose and more for pride. But that game is going to be rough.

And is Jozy even going to play? He was held out of Sunderland's game this weekend after picking up a hamstring injury in training. I hadn't heard the extent of it..

Altidore has been cleared to resume training.

Touched down in San Jose yesterday...anticipation and excitement for the game is palpable for sure. I'm staying a few blocks from the stadium (easy running distance should I get into any Tom Foolery!)

The area around the stadium is beautiful and slightly pretentious since it's close to the financial district. Kind of has the look of San Diego, minus the beach. If I were a betting man I'd wager for a draw...but my heart tells me we're gonna extend the win streak!

No way Jozy plays against the Ticos, too dinged up. EJ starts with the new kid Johannson ready to take over should Eddie choke (a possibility). Jozy may go against El Tri however.

Would love to finally win in Costa Rica and then come back and win 2-0 in Columbus against Mexico!!

Looks like USA will be playing against Costa Rica and the Mexican Ref who might/or will apply bias to help Mexico against the USA.

Mexican referee in charge with 8 U.S. players on warnings, Mexico next | ProSoccerTalk

I'd love to have other regions officiate the games in CONCACAF. Would stop any percieved or biasness from creeping into the call of the game.

From the article, to add further worry:

Rodríguez — who has come to be known by the nickname Chiquidrácula, or Chiquimarco after the Protestant priest objected to the name because of his Christian faith — is known for his propensity to dish out cards indiscriminately. In four World Cup matches he has officiated, Rodríguez sent off three players, including Australian Tim Cahill in what was a highly questioned decision.

In Liga MX, he was once suspended for five matches after issuing two yellow cards at the same time, one in each hand, during a January 2012 playoff series between Tigres and Santos

I and the other commenters also agree with you. Here's a good sample right off the top:

It’s a very CONCACAF thing to do. Especially since the Mexico-Honduras game is refed by a Panamanian. I just don’t understand why they can’t apply some common sense. I mean, I’m sure this guy is a good ref and I don’t he’ll be outright biased against us just to help Mexico a few days later……but why risk even the appearance of impropriety? Just get a neutral ref.
