    It will be the Royals.

What I don't understand about this whole deal is, outside of the team's owners and Anaheim city officials, no one gives a crap if they come. Not even the fans in OC seem to be excited about getting a new team.

The Lakers will always be the number one draw in the area, with Blake Griffin the Clippers are attracting attention, for the foreseeable future the Anaheim team will run a distant 3rd in this market.

    Why do this?

Oh, you're one of those people.

And your wish is not very likely to come true. That franchise has a long history of choking against the Lakers in big games and generally being LA's bitch.

    Totally agree with Kings Provisional.

I don't see a strong reason in moving a team to a new city, staying in the same division, and where the people in the area already have a hatred of that team. Lakers fans in OC will not suddenly become "Kings" fans (LA Kings own the regional naming rights so they will change their name) because they're closer. Just like I didn't start rooting for the Ducks when they came to town. Now it'll just make it easier to boo them. The Laker haters have mostly adopted the Clippers, and with the rise of Blake Griffin, you're not going to get a lot to jump ship. As we know with the Kings/Ducks and Lakers/Clippers, you really won't find many people who will cheer for two teams in the same division. It's going to be tough selling 18,000 seats when you have 2 more interesting options 45 minutes away.

As much as I hate the team and the fans from cow-town, I do feel bad for them. They really stood behind that team for so many years and made it tough on every other team that came into that building.

Honestly, if that franchise is not financially viable in that market (though it more has to do with needing a new stadium and neither the owners or the city has the extra money to pay for it,) it's a good opportunity with the CBA running out this summer to talk about contraction. Don't dump your trash in our town - we don't want it.

I heard that they are changing to their old name, the Royals.

It better be it. There is only going to be one Kings in SoCal!

I believe the Sacramento Kings coming to Anaheim will be a huge boom to the music industry. Ducks fans and Sacramento Kings fans have one thing in common, COW BELL. The next NAMM show in Anaheim will be huge with all the cow bell vendors jockeying for market share.
