First thing that came to mind was the new "Twin Towers."
Wow, i'm still in shock that Mitch was able to basically steal him away from Memphis.
It comes to show how amazing a single trade can change not only the dynamics of a team (Lakers), but also the NBA.
I was thinking that the Lakers would finish with a 4-6 seed but now with Gasol, I now see a Celtic/Laker rivalry as previously noted.
My only concern really is if a team this good can actually play together. I would have to wait to see if they can all play together as well as it looks on paper.
When i first heard of Garnett and Allen going to Boston, i figured that there was no way they could play well together. Hopefully we will see the same results here in Los Angeles.

Great day for Laker fans. Now Kobe, i hope you can shut up now.

There's good BBQ in Memphis, so it's not all bad, Kwame!

Seriously, I was reminded today that Jerry West isn't in charge in Memphis anymore...

Even if you argue that Pau Gasol isn't EXACTLY what a healthy Lakers roster needs, it's pretty easy to give this hulking roster a shot this year and then deal the lesser fit between Odom and Gasol in the offseason. Bottom line, even if Gasol sucks in a Lakers uni, they can later trade or package him for something else without a problem. He's young and an all-star and he didn't cost us much at all. Kupchak is showing signs that he maybe learned a thing or two from being West's understudy.

I'm seriously ****ing crying over here. What an absolute STEAL.

    Theft. Remorseless larceny.

Mitch Kupchak became a criminal today and I love him for it.

    Amazing.

There's a rumor floating around that the Grizzlies will buy out Kwame, and that we'll re-sign him

So perhaps Kwame isn't gone after all

I do not appreciate your sense of humor, sir.

I wasn't aware that Stephen A. Smith ever showed class, unless class is now defined as opining loudly and angrily at the camera and those around him.

David Aldridge >>>>>>>> Steven A. Smith, and I stopped watching ESPN's NBA coverage shortly after they made the mistake of letting Aldridge defect.

Heh, I had the opposite reaction. It seems, I thought, that Jerry West still has some pull in the Memphis front office. Of all the teams to help with this amazing act of charity, why the Lakers?

Believe me, it's tongue-in-cheek, but it's not that farfetched in light of McHale singlehandedly--from his position as Minny GM--setting the Celtics up for a title run.
