San Diego plumber flushes out Bonds' home run ball
August 5, 2007
SAN DIEGO (Ticker) - Barry Bonds said he had no idea where his 755th career home run landed, but a San Diego plumber had a beat on it most of the way.
Adam Hughes, 33 and from La Jolla, San Diego, was the man who came up with the ball as Bonds equalled Hank Aaron's all-time home run record at Petco Park on Saturday night.
"It was ridiculous," Hughes' cousin Justin Marquardt said in the San Diego Union-Tribune. "I jumped in the pile and everyone was saying, 'The ball's not here. The ball's not here.' I looked back and (Hughes) said, 'I got it!'"
The ball is expected to be worth at least six figures in the collector's market.
