Thread: City can't afford to pay for Lakers' parade

I was curious as to where they were going to have a parade anyways assuming they win. In the past they put the players on that balcony outside Staples and everyone was in that parking lot that's now LA Live and the Nokia Theater.

And yeah, if the Lakers wanted to look good, they'd pay for the parade themselves.

Kobe will just buy the city a big ring to say he's sorry for screwing the budget.

LA LIVE will be destroyed tonight by the celebrations. that sucks.

I was stunned as everybody to learn that the cities pay for the parades. That's some bull****. The teams should pay for them and if they want to argue that they can't... then line the ****ing parade rout with Coke ads and turn a profit from it.

In fact... why the **** do teams need a parade anyway? Kings fans loved to mock the Ducks for their Cup Winning Parking Lot Party... but how is that worse than a parade?

Parades suck balls.

the city pays for it because its a public event. the teams could just as easily have a parade at 20 miles an hour or some low speed limit street and the city would still have to provide emergency personel but the city couldnt do a damn thing about it if they were following the speed limit and following traffic laws

Have the celebration in MacArthur Park. LAPD will bring the party favors. There won't be a dry eye in the house.

Parades are Geigh! Hopefully when the Kings win the Cup they host some sort of open house with the players and the cup. A few speeches, a few drinks. Handshakes and cheering. Sounds good to me.

Another thing though, is that if there is no parade or official celebration, the hoodlum fans WILL have their own celebration, in a destructive way. Though, there's probably guaranteed destruction parade or not, so the point is probably moot.

That's one thing I hate about LA sports, the retards that trash and destroy the city make the city and teams look really really bad.

Its not just L.A. Many cities are reduced to rubble after a sports championship. It IS ridiculous though.

And don't think it will be any better if the Kings ever win The Cup. This city will burn like never before!
