Thread: Does Kobe deserve the MVP this year?

As per the LA Times just posted:

Two weeks ago, I polled 21 writers from 19 cities and two websites who had Kobe Bryant ahead of Chris Paul in first-place votes, 10-8, with two for Kevin Garnett, one for LeBron James -- and two Bryant voters saying they'd switch to Paul if the Hornets won the Western Conference.

With the Lakers winning the West, the same group of writers has swung to Bryant, 15-4, with one vote apiece for Garnett and James.

Looks like the wait is over!

If today's game against the Nuggets doesn't prove how good Kobe has made this team, then I don't know what he could do.

Given he shot like crap i would hope that the voting wasn't based on this game. This game was a strong indication of his teammates getting better (Odom, Sasha, Walton) and a genius GM the Lakers have in Mr. Cupcake (Gasol, Fisher). He shot too many senseless shots imo and didn't take it to the whole like the old Kobe would normally do.

After game 2, any of the reporters that weren't already voting for him should be changing vote today!

Right, there not supposed to. But give me a break. Like they have already sealed the votes in an envelope!

When Garnett was out for 2 weeks, the Celtics went undefeated. Obviously, he not as much of a factor in comparison to Kobe.

I guess we don't have to wait any longer....

Kobe Bryant has won the NBA’s MVP award for the first time, the Los Angeles Times reported on its Web site Friday night, citing anonymous sources familiar with the outcome of voting by media members.

The newspaper reported that commissioner David Stern will be in Los Angeles next week to present the trophy to Bryant.
