Derek Fisher Will Not Be Taking His Talents to South Beach - Silver Screen and Roll
According to ESPN Los Angeles, it's a three-year deal, with the third year at Fisher's option.
Quote:
At the end of the day, there's one person I could not turn away from. Kobe Bryant asked me to stay but supported whatever decision I made. He and I have played together for 11 seasons, came into the league together as kids, and has been loyal to me even when others had doubts. We have won five championships together. . . . I have decided to continue with Kobe, continue with our teammates and the fans of Los Angeles. While this may not be the most lucrative contract I've been offered this off season, it is the most valuable. I am confident I will continue to lead this team on and off the court. Let the hunt for six begin.
He deserves to retire a Laker, and I'm glad Buss did the right thing.

The Cavaliers are offering as much as a three-year deal that starts around $3.5 million a season, but Barnes wants more money if he’s going to sign with a non-championship contender, sources said. Barnes would take a $1.7 million deal to join the Lakers.
Barnes averaged 8.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in 81 games last season for the Magic.
Barnes is now a Laker, this bench is really rounding into shape!

Theo Ratliff also signed today. Another good defensive player.
Ratliff and Barnes Are Joining the Lake Show - Silver Screen and Roll

It's been an active day for Mitch Kupchak and his efforts to shore up the Lakers' bench. First came news that Theo Ratliff signed a one-year deal to fill the role played by D.J. Mbenga last year. The 37-year-old Ratliff will make the veteran's minimum of $1.37 million. A couple hours later, Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Matt Barnes has agreed to join the Lakers on a two-year, $3.6 million deal. Barnes could've made almost twice that amount if he'd signed with the Cavaliers, but the man wanted to play for a contender and was willing to take a discount for that privilege.
