The Milwaukee Bucks agreed to trade Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto a Bucks source told ESPN.com.

Keeps their window open, but they still aren't what they were defensively in the past.

They don't need Bowen. They need to match up with a healthy Lakers front court rotation of Bynum, Gasol, Odom, and Ariza, if they want to win the West again before Duncan retires.

They don't "need" him, but if he's willing to come back as a role player, who knows? I never said it was Bowen or front-line help. Depth never hurts, especially when it's a defensive-minded veteran who already knows the system.

However, it looks like Bowen has other plans:

Considering how thin the Spurs front court is compared to the Lakers, signing a 38 year old Bowen would be last on my priority list.

Again, you're making it one or the other. They don't necessarily preclude each other. Plus Odom and Ariza aren't Lakers for next year yet.

Anyway, it's a moot point since it looks like Bowen is moving on. Oberto might be back though.
