Anyone want to talk Bruin basketball? They are looking pretty darn good after their first conference road trip. I was able to catch the Mizzou game when I was in town and if they can continue to get good production out of the Wear twins they will be in good shape. Shabazz is the freaking man.
Tell me about Shabazz. I haven't been able to see a game because I don't have the PAC12 network.
I've heard him being compared to Paul Pierce, but then someone else said he is like a Lebron James. Whatever the case, it looks like he will be the top 1 or 2 players taken in the draft.
What do you think?
He isn't intimidated by anything it appears. He loves working from the wing to the basket. Good on or off the dribble. A slow starter at the beginning of games but when he gets going he is pretty much unstoppable. Good first step but can step back an nail an outside shot. Against Mizzou he had a tremendous tomahawk slam on a breakaway.
Aside from Shabazz the thing that impressed was the Wear twins. They kept the Bruins in the game against Mizzou early allowing Shabazz to find his rhythm - once he did Shabazz demanded the ball. Down the stretch and into OT it was Shabazz's show. He is going to have a great coming out party in the Conference and NCAA tourneys and if he does he is a lock for lottery pick.
I would watch him if you can. He is fun to watch and is every bit as good as his publicity. I wouldn't go as far as LeBron but he could certainly have that kind of potential.
I watched the first few games but it's f'n annoying not being able to see most of these recent games (pac-12 network). But not enough to switch cable companies..
Forgot about that Pac-12 network and no full coverage! I haven't got to see much either living in Pacific NW. I am going to try and get tix for when the Bruins come up in March against UW. Watch Shabazz anyway you can guys - he is that much fun to watch.
Ok one more time I this thread since we are getting close to tourney time.
The Bruins won the Pac-12 today and even though they have been very young looking at times this year I love how they developed down the stretch. I am very interested to see how they do in the Pac-12 tourney as an indicator of how they may do in the NCAA tourney. So a few questions for Bruin faithful:
1. How well do we think they do in PAC-12 and NCAA tourneys? I love their chances in the Pac-12 and would love to see them win it. In the NCAA I wouldn't be at all surprised by Elite Eight appearance but in both tourneys they have to stop looking past opponents. Should be fun to watch.
2. Will Shabazz return? We know the history of this and Howland hasn't helped by going back and forth this week on the kid. In terms of what I think - I think he is coming back. To me it all depends on how the team does in the NCAA tourney. If they do make a run and get close I think he comes back. He sounds intrigued by what the team could do next year as well. If they get close he may decide to stay. Regardless it is problematic. The kid will play in the NBA for a long time and be successful barring injury. He is just so steady and consistent. He reminds me, in his play, of James Worthy
3. Will Howland be back next year? I am going out on a limb and say regardless of team performance in the NCAA tourney he is done. I think Guerrero wants to see Pauley filled and he thinks a showtime team will do that and no way old school defense first Howland will do showtime. If he is let go who will replace him? I have no idea.
Fire away all.
