How about Clemson beating up on Florida State?
Never thought any QB would make Chris Rix look good. Weatherford is talented, but it just seems like he's never improved.
What do you think USC, Drew Weatherford now and Drew Weatherford 2 years ago. Is there that much a difference?
Without seeing the game, I get the feeling that Carroll was using maybe 10% of the playbook. There's really no need to show Nebraska your hand. Let's see how they do in Lincoln before saying that they don't deserve to be #1.
Could they have rolled Idaho? Yea most likely, but sometimes its not smart to come up with this elaborate game plan to beat the Idaho Vandals. It's just a tuneup game. Get the kinks out of your system, get used to game speed, etc. No need to panic yet.
You SC fans sure are spoiled!
I need to emphasize on how bad Booty is though.
We have tons of depth at the RB position, but no one has yet to establish himself as the guy that can take over and steal a game for you (ala Reggie Bush). Then again, is anyone really getting the opportunity? With 3 - 5 backs sharing carries a game, no one is really able to get into a game rhythm. So goes the "problem" of having too much depth.
So for USC to run the table, we are going to need an excellent campaign out of Booty. And as I have previously stated, he has terrible vision, lousy ability to throw the long ball, and is just flat out mediocre. This game reminded me of what I knew/saw all of last season.
It is worth noting that before USC went on its nice little run over Oregon (good season but not same tier as SC) /Cal (imploded end of last year even Zona beat them) /Notre Dame (0 team speed, overrated) last season (only to lose to UCLA of course), they played some pretty lousy games, including barely escaping Wazzou with a win, only beating Washington who was in the red zone thanks to that stupid clock rule, and of course losing to Oregon State.
Not to mention the ASU game I'm sure you remember well... one of the worst college football games I've ever seen.
It is a very upset-able team with Booty at the helm. Thats why while this game may have been totally meaningless, a 63 - 3 victory would have sat a lot better than a 38 - 10 victory (with Idaho winning the turnover battle 3 - 1, too!)
