I need some draft advice

I play in a keeper league where we get to keep 2 players from our last season roster. The scoring is 1 point for 10 yards for rb/wr, 1 point for 25 yards for qb, 6 points for tds.

As of now I'm keeping Chris Johnson and Greg Jennings, although Matt Forte is also a possibility.

I've been given the first overall pick and I'm stumped as to who I should take. I'm going running back first, mostly because of what is available and the uncertainty of Johnson's status to start the season.

The top 3 running backs that will be available are Maurice Jones-Drew, Darren McFadden, and LeSean McCoy.

I like Jones-Drew, but he always seems an injury concern. The Raiders offense scares me so I don't know if I could trust McFadden or if he can put up the same numbers as last season, plus his eye injury is a concern. And with McCoy, I worry if there is going to be enough offense to go around, although I do like that he catches the ball a lot.

I've also gathered up a lot of draft picks as I was out of it early last season and traded away players for picks. I have picks 1, 11, 20, 21, and 26 to start, if that helps.

So if you were in my spot, who would you pick and why? I appreciate any advice you have.

Available WR are Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Miles Austin, Mike Wallace. Andre Johnson, Roddy White, and Hakeem Nicks are the only WRs being kept.

Available QB are Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Schaub, and Matt Ryan. Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Aaron Rogers, and Michael Vick are all being kept.

McCoy would be my choice, but it is close between those 3 rbs.

Thanks. That is where I'm leaning, but he's been going behind the other 2 in most of the mock drafts I've done. Seems like the safer pick and could have a monster year.

I would snatch up A Johnson or Brady. I think Larry Fitz will have a huge year with a better B as well

A Johnson and Brady are being kept by other teams so I won't be able to draft them. I actually had A. Johnson last season as one of my keepers but I traded him at the deadline for a draft pick and Forte. If Fitz slips to my #11 pick I'm thinking of taking him there, but I don't think he will make it.

Either go double wideout with the 1 & 11 pick or go qb/wr. I don't think fitz will have a great year because Kolb had to learn the az playbook. I would look to grab Romo, Schaub and Austin with my first 2 picks hopefully 1 of the other two will be there at the 11th spot for you.

So I am in a 2 keeper league just like you and the scoring seems very similar. This is a league where the same group of guys have been together for 20 years. We know each other pretty well.

It used to be that you always kept 2 RB's (I have been the big winner in this league as I had Marshall Faulk in his heyday and now have AP as my keeper so I am a firm believer in the 2 RB theory) and that kind of evolved in the last few years to a combo of RBs and QBs or RBs and WRs. This year was the first year where two owners kept 2 WRs. I have an internet service I use that provides some tools to use when drafting (simple Excel spreadsheets and macros based upon the services' player projections). The tools, in year's past, have agreed with the evolved strategy. This year, though, we are back to 2 stud RBs.

Take McCoy. With D-Mac as the back up. McCoy is going to be very good this year I think.

Oh and who did I pair up with AP? I could've (and probably should've) kept D-Mac but I went with Hakeem Nicks. Probably will work out as there was a run on the best WRs as keepers as well but I have no shot at getting D-Mac back or McCoy (I am picking in the #9 hole each round - we don't do serpentine draft - if you win you pick in the 10 spot the following year). Good luck - you can't lose in the position you are in. I love both McCoy and D-Mac.
