Reggie Bush settles civil case. As there will be no deposition, this may affect the NCAA infractions investigation. The ruling should be forthcoming very soon.
SC is pretty much got bent over, these sanctions are huge. Something bigger must have been going on then what was rumored for this to happen.
Feel really bad for the players that did nothing.
I don't feel that bad. They knew what they were signing up for. This possibility has loomed over the program for a few years now, and recruits chose to go with the prestige of USC football, a prestige that was built on a lot of shady behavior in the last decade.Quote:

Is the NCAA making an example of them? Probably. But the repeat offender aspect, the "lack of institutional control," is most certainly why the penalty is so significant. Lessons clearly weren't learned last time.

As a USC fan I disappointed but no surprised. I am more disappointed that the people who did the offensives get ZERO penalties and the kids in the program now get screwed. It sucks for the 20 recruits that would have had scholarships. Bush, Mayo and Carroll as well as the people that made the illegal payments, all of which knew what they were doing was wrong and one is a repeat offender, get no sanctions fines or jailtime and that needs to be addressed by the NCAA.
I would hope the NCAA could make the payment a federal crime and somehow sanction players once they leave the program either by making them liable for the lost revenue or by some code of conduct contracts with the athletes
The upside is ALL the USC players are now free to transfer w/o having to apply for exemptions,red-shirting or losing a year of eligibilit. Come and get them UCLA, CAL, ASU Stanford and the rest of the Pac10. I hear they need a QB in Oregon
Actually, it's only the players whose eligibility runs out before the bowl ban expires. So only players with two years or less of eligibility (e.g. Mitch Mustain).Quote:
