Yea, I don't know how I feel about this. I mean in baseball you try and steal signs all the time.

In football you do the same thing. Which is why in no huddle type situations, you'll see hand signals from 3 different backup QBs 2 of which are just randomly signing in plays that have no meaning while one of them is signaling the correct play.

I guess videotaping the signals is a whole new level, but for whatever reason I don't think its that big a deal.

Well, it's not part of the game when the league explicitly told teams (prior to all this) that they weren't allowed to do this kind of stuff.

And from what I understand, the Pats have been doing it for quite some time so it's not just the Jets crying foul.

I'm sure you were being facetious, at least in part, but I'm actually pretty peeved about this and it's not that I'm a big NFL fan (I'm not), but it further degrades my respect for "professional" sports as a meaningful pastime. It's stuff like this that has me watching less and less professional sports these days. Total disenchantment.

Like college sports are much better? Crooked refs and cheating and scandals and steroids on and off the field/court are just as apparent in college sports. I'm not disagreeing with your point, all I'm saying is that your disenchantment shouldn't be pro-exclusive.

But cheating is an integral part of baseball. Like fighting with hockey. Plus you can bean the next AHOLE that steps in the batter box if you suspect them of stealing signs.

I was at the Jets-Pats game, I have mixed feelings about it. We played like **** and probably would have lost, but then again, the league is taking it pretty seriously. Mangini learned all his stuff from Bellichick, so I would think any little tip would make it pretty easy for the Pats to decode what the Jets were doing. Whether we rushed 3 or blitzed with 7 or 8, the Pats saw everything coming, you rarely see that for a whole game.
