That's a self-serving article if I've ever seen one. We ACCEPT the fact that Andre Waters killed himself because of his concussions? We IGNORE? We FORGET? Who the hell is this person talking to? First of all, this isn't our fault. Blame Gene Upshaw and the NFLPA. Second, it's not against the law to destroy your body if you choose. It IS against the law to pick a sick dog up and slam it against the cement until it dies. It IS against the law to soak a hurt animal in water and then electrocute it. The fact that this person is comparing the two is what is truly sick.

Innocent until proven guilty but if found guilty what a piece of trash Vick is.

Self-serving... What do you mean by that?

He is using the Vick incident and showing us that we are barely better than Roman Times.

The average NFL player lives 50 years or so. The average American lives 78 years. We fans celebrate those bone crunching hits other humans do to each other. We cheer those things. Do we not? How can now say that we have no responsibility?

Now bring this back to Vick. Once we start taking care of those who put their lives in danger for our what? entertainment! and expecting that they can and will be taken care of, the sadistic people will be vetted out and controlled.

What is the difference between Mike Ditka calling out hurt players and what Michael Vick does with dogs. Not much. Both have control over others and not much empathy.

If you are a fan of football, be part of the solution, tell the football owners that you expect them to take care of their players. It is the right thing to do.

Now, this is my opinion, but I'm betting this guy is a BIG fan of Vick. The main difference between what NFL players do every sunday and what Vick may or not have been a part of is quite simple. Choice. These animals never got to choose to do with their life what Ray Lewis, Andre Ware, Thurman Thomas, Joe Montana, or Jim Otto chose to do with theirs. To compare what Vick has possibly been involved with (torture and violent killing among other things) to negligence by a players union is completely irresponsible and downright insulting.

Not to get all A Time to Kill on you, but close your eyes and imagine those dogs were babies instead. Would this even be a discussion? All this author is doing is diminishing what has happened because (in my guess) he feels it's not that bad. He's trying to compare it to a voluntary activity and that makes me ill.

I agree that the players should be taken care of, absolutely. However the comparison between enjoying the NFL and Vick enjoying the torture/murder of animals is worlds apart IMO.

Apparently this is a picture of one of the dogs found on Vicks property.

I cannot verify the authenticity of the picture, but one thing is for sure

After seeing the picture, if indeed he did have a big part in the Dog Fighting, throw the ****ing book at him.
