Thread: Washington upsets USC

I'm glad I wasn't able to watch this game or I would've injured another body part. I still haven't had a chance to read up on what happened besides they lost with back up QB to Washington who is packed with former USC staff. A loss sucks on any level and I'm not sure if Saturday will be the only one this season with the team we have right now. The Pac 10 is getting stronger and it will be interesting to see who lands on top because for one thing USC is not a 100% shoe in.

Of course I hate USC. Half the media was ready to reserve the Heisman in 2011-12 for Barkley after they beat San Jose St. Really? I'm not particularly brilliant, but I was 2 years younger than this guy as a "true freshman." Which grades did he repeat and how many times?

Barkley should have been a redshirt and Mustain should have been given the offense. I don't care what Pete says, this kid is not going to lead USC to the Pac 10 Championship this year. That game winning drive was great against Ohio State, but what about the rest of the game? He's not shown me anything yet that should put him back under center. I can see it in a couple of years, but how is this kid going to deal with being the first quarterback in years to not lead this team to a Pac 10 Championship? I see at least 3 more losses... at least. Cal, UCLA, and one of the Oregon teams. They better not lose to Stanford again this year.

Mustain has already proven he can play major college ball. I wonder if some sort of tacit, wink-wink, nudge-nudge inside track to the starting job was given by Carroll in his effort to get Barkley to sign.

Mustain's big year back at Arkansas seems like a little speck in the rear-view mirror these days...

That's an interesting thought.

When Rodriguez was hired, Ryan Mallett couldn't get out of town fast enough - since the thinking was that Rodriguez didn't want a drop-back passer running the offense. Everyone thought that eventually the Michigan offense would end up like the one Rodriguez fielded at West Virginia, with loads of team speed and a Pat White type at QB.

It's ironic that Mallett ended up at Arkansas and that the transformation of the offense seems nowhere near complete.
