The oline was pretty darn good last year, especially considering how ****ty they have played in year's past. With the zone blocking system Cable has installed you don't have to spend big money on the premier offensive linemen.

I think oline can be addressed in the draft, if Jake Long is available I'd love to grab him. I still feel like DT is a need, Kelly can be productive but he's just one man. WR is an issue but the Raiders aren't going anywhere next year, that's something we can address later on.

    We signed Javon Walker

ESPN - Source: Ex-Bronco Walker agrees to 6-year deal with Raiders - NFL

A lot of cash for a guy who's been plagued with injuries 2 out of the past 3 years. He does have big play potential, but damn - we sure are spending big for middle of the pack players.

we also signed Kwame Harris from the 49ers

From what I hear, he's as hated in San Francisco as Gallery is in Oakland.

I'm really, really hating this offseason.

Harris has been terrible, but he has the right tools to be successful in Cable zone blocking system. Cable worked wonders last year with Gallery, I'm fairly confident he can do the same with Harris.

I wouldn't call Walker a middle of the road player. The Raiders are rolling the dice with his knee, I think Shanahan was being a bit of a rat saying that he might need microfracture surgery, trying to drive his price down.

When he's healthy, Walker is a solid #1, Raiders needed some playmakers on the outside if JaMarcus has any chance of being successful. The draft is thin and so is free agency. I like this gamble, better than not doing anything.

Why would Shanahan want to drive his price down, the Broncos had zero interest in retaining him. They were actually trying to trade him before they released him, so if anything he would have talked up Javon and tried to make him look marketable to the rest of the league. He's had major knee problems multiple times in his career already, so relying on him to be a #1 anymore is a big risk. He'd be a solid #2 though.

Walker is a typical "me-first" NFL WR, a good contributor when things are going his way and he's getting the ball to his satisfaction, and a distracting malcontent when he's not getting enough looks and the "offense isn't a good fit for him anymore". The Raiders game him a lot of guaranteed money for such a gamble of a player, but that's nothing new in Oakland.

Because Shanahan is a rat and he knew no one was going to trade for him for him so he decided to screw a player's potential earning potential because he doesn't like him. Doesn't seem like that far out of the reach for a guy like Shanahan. Why else would he just come out and say "Oh this guy will probably need microfracture surgery". That was a pretty dumn move in my eyes.

It's about what the Broncos gave him when they signed him. I'd rather gamble on Walker than pay a guy like Bernard Berrian or Donte Stallworth.

Al Davis should force Lane Kiffin out and replace him with John Madden. Favre's retired so that might be such a bad option for Madden.

And the Raiders would be on their way to another top 3 pick!

Don't see what is to hate... we've been extremely active and + our 1st round pick should be a bit more interesting to watch next year.

I'm trying to be optomistic about the off-season, I see why DHKF isn't though. Walker is coming of a knee thing, Kelly is coming off an ACL and hasn't proven much, and Kwame Harris has done nothing but suck.

That being said it's good to see the franchise spending money as many people thought Davis was financially strapped and wouldn't do anything.
