    Smokescreen or the truth?

    * No go on McFadden? Because of a surplus of running backs, including the newly re-signed Justin Fargas, Kiffin said the team likely won't pursue Arkansas star running back Darren McFadden with the No. 4 pick. Kiffin said the team's biggest need is at the defensive line, where Virginia defensive end Chris Long (the son of Raiders Hall of Famer Howie Long) and defensive tackles Glenn Dorsey of LSU and Sedrick Ellis of USC are possibilities.

"[McFadden] is a phenomenal player .... But we really don't have a big need at running back," Kiffin said.

I wonder about that as well with the Adrian Peterson situation from last year (look at how many teams passed on him and what happened). But do you really think that they will pass on Howie Long's son??? I think Chris Long will be the pick to be honest.

Everything thing Kiffin has said has suggested that the Raiders will go dline. But Kiffin has played the smoke screen game in the past so who knows.

I would love Chris Long, but I honestly think he's going first overall.

If Long was there I'd say sure, but he won't be...

I wouldn't mind taking Dorsey and I understand that we have bigger needs than RB, but McFadden's talent level is tiers above Fargas's. You don't necessarily need an elite back these days (great defense and a solid system on offense suffice), but the opportunity to get him in the 4th spot is way too tempting and I'd be a bit upset if we didn't. I've been a big fan of the kid at Arkansas and his stats only tell half the story. Consider he plays in the SEC AND that opposing teams know he is the primary threat, and he still consistantly leveled defenses. He'd be a pleasure to watch.

The Dolphins signed Jake Long today...

It seems the Rams are really hot on Dorsey, Altanta could be looking at Ryan...I think Chris will be there when we pick, the question will then be if Al wants the speed running back or the son of a Raider(who is the bigger need).

    Blah.

The Rams might hold the key to the draft. I've read that they are high on Dorsey. But also that they are high on Chris Long. If they draft Long, Atlanta could draft Dorsey. That leaves the Raiders in an interesting spot.

As good as Chris Long is, I actually prefer Gholston. Much more of a pass rushing threat, and Burgess is coming off a bad season.

I've said it before, I'm 50/50 on McFadden. If we get him I'm fine, if we don't I'm fine. Long/Gholston might feel a need, but McFadden fills that RB spot for the next decade as well and with the way Fargas runs he will always be banged up. RB isn't a "need" but I don't think the position is solidified by any means seeing as how 2 injury prone players are the guys the Raiders are counting on(Fargas and Bush). I'm not counting Rhodes because I don't think he's here long term

I just read where it says the Rams are 50/50 on Dorsey and Long. I prefer Long to Gholston because in a lot more to the table then just pass rushing. But, if Chris is gone, I definitely prefer Gholston over McFadden.

I hope we pick Gholston - maybe a small miracle will happen and Chris Long will fall to us

I think there is a really big chance Al goes with Long/Gholston over McFadden. All this talk about Davis falling in love with athletes and speed is pretty ridiculous. That basically describes every scout/GM in the league.
