Nog's tied up in TUF, and there's no one else they can justify fighting Randy for the title. (Unless it's a non-title fight, in which case, you can bet he'd be fighting Brock)

If it IS a title fight, there is the risk that Randy would more or less lay down just to get it over and done with, thereby tainting the win for the (new) champ, but it allows him to escape unscathed for his fight with Fedor in Affliction.

Just doesn't make sense to me.

Randy Couture willing to fight in the UFC once more - MMA - Yahoo! Sports

Reigning UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture could return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship by year’s end as part of an out-of-court settlement with the organization.

Multiple sources close to the fighter, speaking exclusively to MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com), today said that Couture is willing to fight once more for the UFC, possibly before the end of the year, as a potential resolution to his ongoing legal battles with the fight promotion.

    ...and some more...

BloodyElbow.com Exclusive: Randy Couture is Negotiating a Return to the UFC in November to Fight BrockLesnar - Bloody Elbow

First, I can say with 100% certainty that there are current negotiations for Randy Couture to return in November to main event, and that the current proposed opponent is Brock Lesnar. They can't get Fedor, too many issues to work out on short notice, and he has a US-only non compete with Affliction.

This will be a new contract, not a return to the old one. It will likely pay him more and give him more benefits, but it will lock him into the UFC for the long term. In exchange for signing it Zuffa would drop all breach of contract charges.
...and for something else I don't think will happen...

According to Ariel Helwani at MMA Rated, the UFC is planning to announce this deal on Tuesday if all goes well. He also says the UFC is considering an M-1 proposal to have Randy fight Fedor in his second fight
Looks like something is CERTAINLY happening. Whether it all comes to fruition or not, who knows. . .but it seems for sure that it's being discussed and worked on.

I guess you can never really rule out anything in the fight game.

Anxious to see how this all plays out.

I think everyone is feeling the same way. What a strange twist it has taken. If nothing else, I hope it happens just to hear the interview with Rogan after the fight. . .not to mention all the questions beforehand leading up to it. That will be SPECTACULAR.

More for the conspiracy theorist. . .

I remain very skeptical about all this. Especially about the part where the UFC co-promotes with m-1.

Yea the co-promoting part I just don't see. I don't see Dana doing that at all.

Randy coming back, I can see that happening, especially if they plan on having him fight in Oregon. Still a long shot but more of a possibility than the UFC co-promoting.

In case anyone hasn't read it, here's KJ Noon's rant against EliteXC and why he won't fight Diaz.

K.J. Noons issues statement, criticizes EliteXC and company executives | MMAjunkie.com

And here's Diaz's camp's response, where they tear KJ a new one.

EliteXC VP Jared Shaw, Nick Diaz's camp respond to K.J. Noons | MMAjunkie.com

    The most interesting points are:

Wonder what KJ can come up with as an answer.

There are several fighters that are a lot better than you fighting for a lot less. Pay your dues and quit being a little bitch. 3) You are paying your management too high of a percentage and here's some advice you should consider, \\"they are completely incompetent\\". 4) Chuck Liddell makes 100s of thousands more than Keith Jardine even though he lost to him. Diaz does not complain that Kimbo makes much more. He understands marketability, why can't you? 5) Divide this and then multiply it several times: KJ = little bitch > KJ = real champion 6) We agree you do need more Vaseline. You are used to it and damn those EliteXC guys for not using it when they bend you over.
    Ouch!

Yeah. Bunch of whiners as far as I'm concerned. You've got Noons throwing a tantrum because he's not being paid enough. Got news for you KJ, no one knows who you are. Then, you've got Diaz crying because he only lost due to cuts. So? You freaking lost. Those cuts didn't magically happen. They were due to Noons beating on you. Also, since Diaz barely beat that guy Aina (and I still think he lost), he's hardly one to demand title shots.

Bottom line, I wish both would disappear.

Yea, this whole situation is extremely lame. KJ Noons has no reason to pick his own opponents at this point.

EliteXC showed some promise but it seems like they are dying a slow death. That Kimbo fight can't come soon enough for them

Yeah it sucks, I think I read something that said they were 55mil in debt? I'd like to see them survive but it's probably not going to happen.
