Any comments on the Bisping fight? I thought he was thoroughly unimpressive other than sticking to the game plan of moving away from Lebens left. He seems like a bookmark to keep English money coming into the UFC coffers. Leben on the other hand looked like a one-trick pony.
Bisping wasn't impressive but he got the job done. He clearly had a gameplan and stuck to it. He could have made it more exciting by standing in the pocket and trading with Leben but he likely would have lost if he did that.
It wasn't a great performance but it was a smart one. Bisping doesn't deserve a fight against the winner of Franklin-Henderson but the division is really shallow so I'm not too surprised the UFC is making that happen. Also makes it easy to set up the next TUF since it will be USA Vs. UK.
EliteXC is finished
Nov. 8 EliteXC Cancels; Pro Elite Folds
Wow, first Seth Petruzelli destroys EliteXC's golden boy, then he destroys the company with his insinuations of fight fixing.
Shields, Diaz, Lawler and Rogers should all definitely find a home in the UFC.
Poor Tito, he was only "weeks" away from signing a big contract with EliteXC. I wonder if he still has Lorenzo's phone #. lol.
I think Zuffa should grab Gina & Cyborg and put them on a WEC card. Bring some more attention to the WEC. Not that they're not doing well already, but you can't deny that Gina is a draw, and since Dana doesn't want women's MMA in the UFC, the WEC would be a good place for Zuffa to test out the idea.

Affliction & the UFC almost kissed and made up:
- AFFLICTION AND UFC REJECT WORKING TOGETHER - MMA WEEKLY - Mixed Martial Arts & UFC News, Photos, Rankings & more
However, my favourite part is this one:Affliction Entertainment, the fledgling fight promotion that first splashed onto the MMA scene with its ubiquitous t-shirts, has rejected a bid to partner with the industry-leading UFC.
MMAWeekly.com spoke to multiple industry sources that confirmed that the basics of a deal had been brokered to allow Affliction back into the organization as a major clothing sponsor, including the possibility of UFC/Affliction co-branded apparel.
In exchange for the formal partnership, Affliction would agree to cease operations as a fight promoter. Select fighter contracts from Affliction’s talent roster would presumably be bought out by the UFC.
Seeing as how Lorenzo helped make your planned event in Vegas a nightmare, maybe it was you Mr. Beard that ****ed witht he wrong guy?Though the deal was not formally rejected by Affliction, it was clear that the goodwill between the parties had disappeared. While it’s unclear how the conversation went south, it went south quickly, with both parties directing profanities at one another. Towards the end, Beard (Affliction, co-founder) reportedly told Ferttita, “you’ve (expletive) with the wrong guy.”

Anyone here think Cote has a chance? Of course he has that puncher's chance but Silva should take him out in the 1st. I expect the fight to be pretty spectacular while it lasts though.
The fight I'm really looking forward to this weekend is Thiago Alves-Josh Koscheck. I"m glad that Diego had to pull out only because I think Koscheck is better than hiim. This should be a really interesting fight.
I actually think Cote has a decent puncher's chance at pulling this off. Maybe it's because my brain is mush from preparing next year's budget all week, but I can't recall anyone really testing Silva's chin like Cote can. Leben had the chance but was too wild with his strikes. Cote is a damn good boxer and if he picks his shots, I think he can certainly put Silva to sleep.
Having said that, if he tries to chase Silva, he's done. I think this makes it to the 2nd round. Though I'd be shocked if it went to the 3rd.
Can't say I'm all that surprised after they hedge all their bets on the "superstar fighter" Kimbo Slice. Kimbo might be one of the toughest baddest men on the planet but that doesn't make up for the fact that he is a largely untrained, undisciplined fighter who has been protected by Elite XC because he was their cash cow.
More than the knockout, the real embarrassment to the sport was stoppage first Thompson because his EAR WAS BLEEDING!? MMA has gained its popularity by being the "legitimate" alternative to professional wrestling and boxing; and then in front of the largest audience the sport has ever had, they award the fight to Kimbo Slice who lost both the previous rounds on points to a much more disciplined fighter, which even to the most casual viewer was done simply to keep Kimbo's record intact, fearing that a loss at this point in his career would mean they would lose out on millions of dollars in future fights.
With the way he was pampered by officials in that win I half expected Vince McMahon to come running out to the cage with a steel chair in hand to knockout the referee and then gang up James Thompson along with Kimbo Slice and an invading D-Generation X.
The days of street fighters in the octagon are long over!
LONG LIVE THE UFC!!! Long Live the SPORT of MMA
