That might have been the most impressive performance of Diaz's career. Maybe even moreso than the Gomi win. Well he was really high during the Gomi fight so that's still probably number 1!

But man he took apart Žaromskis, 170 might be the best weight for Diaz. Seems like 155/160 is out of the question for him and 185 is too big for him. He'll get mauled by any big wrestler.

Read that Scott Coker wants to match up Diaz against Mach Sakurai for his first title defense. Sakurai is a fun fighter to watch and it would be a good matchup but Jay Hieron has gotta be pretty pissed. He was supposed to fight Diaz but the fight got canceled cause Nick wasn't gonna pass the drug test and he's in limbo. Plus Sakurai has dropped his last two bouts including a fight against Zaromskis.

I'm with you on Lashey, Sims sucks so unless he pulled of a power bomb or threw Sims out of the cage I wouldn't have been impressed. I'm glad Lashey is going slow in his MMA career he's not ready for anyone big time. That being said I think Coker wants him to fight Brett Rogers next which seems like it would be a bad idea for Lashey.

Listening to Beatdown after the Bell, Strikeforce has this annoying habit of getting guys under contract then making them sit. I will be shocked if a high profile fight comes at Diaz for 6 months.

I'm not impressed with these guys coming from Japan/Dream/etc. who have to "Clean up" their acts (wink, nudge?) and then get destroyed and taint legacies. I think Hendo, Rampage, Big Nog, and Fedor are the only exceptions out of the gate.

I love Nick, but until he goes back to UFC, he's always going to be the guy who lost to Diego (got screwed in many opinions), Joe Riggs and Sean Sherk. He's going to be defending a secondary title until MMA becomes like boxing and can have cross promotion fights. I don't mind having belts, but let's drop the "best in the world" nonsense if you're not fighting the best competition.

Overall I enjoyed the Diaz and Lawler fights. Herschel was a gimmick. Cyborg needs some japanese women to fight. Lashley's win was against a guy who doesn't train hard and took the fight on short notice and clowned in there. Jay Hieron on the unaired prelims was a crime.

    Kimbo "got it"

Walker looked good, but it looked like he was given a jobber. I realize it's his first match and they were milking the publicity. Want to see him against real competition. Impressed with the shape he's in.

Definitely in shape, and this was more or less a "thanks Walker for pushing this sport" love letter.

I'm just not sure it should have been on the main tv card rather than an untelevised exhibition. Does nothing for the opponent either: you lose, you got beat up by a 47 year old who has never fought, you win, you beat up a 47 year old who has never fought.

Walker clowning in the cage like he was Rashad Evans made me sad.

I with ya there. Unfortunately for us, in what I've gathered from interviews, Diaz doesn't seem interested in his legacy or his reputation. Seems like he just fights because he's good at it not because he loves it. But yea hopefully he does end up back in the UFC, plenty of fun fights to be made. I think though in the UFC there are a ton of bad matchups for him. Too many top tier wrestlers with enough BJJ or BJJ defense, those guys seem to be Diaz's kryptonite.

What do you guys think of this weekend's UFC card? Pretty mediocre in my eyes. Only the Marquardt-Sonnen fight interests me and to a lesser extend Thiago-Swick and Maia-Miller.

Couture-Coleman is a fun fight between two legends but really doens't mean anything in the big picture.

At least things get better, the card for the Australian event is fantastic.

If I've learned anything over the recent run of UFC cards, it's that it doesn't seem to matter much who is on them. Good fights are still possible. I remember being fired up to see Arlovski and Sylvia III (don't ask me why). One of the worst things I've had the luck to watch it turned out. I'll go to a bar to watch this one more than likely, but I'm still looking forward to enjoying it.

Yea, I agree. Any UFC card has a great chance of having a couple of awesome fights. It's just that on this card many of these fights don't mean anything as far as the big picture is concerned. Like yourself I won't buy this card but I'll catch the fights somehow and I won't be surprised if there's a fight of the year candidate out of these bouts.

Mark Coleman should have been outed as a non-legit competitor 3 fights ago, or hell, even post-Fedor.

He'll gas halfway in round 1, Randy takes this easily

Here's another article on the GSP-Mousasi training partnership.

UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre trains with Gegard Mousasi - Josh Gross - SI.com

"I see myself" in Mousasi, St. Pierre said. "But two weight classes above. He's a great fighter. He's very open-minded. He's amazing. He taught me two great techniques. Those two things I learned today are worth my whole trip. I'm very happy, and I'm going to be working on it a lot."
Scary isn't it? GSP is still evolving as a fighter.
