That being said, everyone counted Randy out against Vitor Belfort. Everyone counted him out against Chuck. Everyone counted him out against Tito. Everyone counted him out against Tim Sylvia. The man has a certain affinity for defying the odds. I think his number might be up, but if he wins, I won't be surprised. He'll have to do it via ground and pound though. Don't think he'll be able to stay standing with Gonzaga for a 5 round fight.
I'm confused. I THINK you meant Gonzaga is gonna win, but that first sentence threw me. I think Randy CAN win, but I don't think he will. Gonzaga might present too many problems for him.

While that was a good performance he has done very little in MMA to date. I think Kendall will beat up Cote pretty good and will stop him due to strikes.
I don't think Cote is that good either, but I certainly think he's going to put up a fight. Sometimes not being able to put a guy away that you should can be frustrating and that part (mental) can make the fight more difficult than it should be. He's going to be game in this fight and Grove will have to get over the mental struggle of not controlling the fight like he has in the past. Just my guess though. He could sub him 30 seconds in for all I know.

I mean I don't think there are any really good Team Punishment fighters out there.
GREAT move for him if that's true. Outside of great conditioning, I don't know if Ortiz is really teaching his guys how to be great fighters. Sure, in TUF that could be forgiven, but to get yourself to the next level, you can't just rely on that sort of thing. Training with guys like Couture, Bas, Parisyan, etc could really round out his game. Team Punishment seems pretty one-dimensional from the fighters that are turning out of there.

Babalu I can understand. He got caught one (two?) fights ago and he lost to Liddell after stunning him, but Mir has just looked horrible in all of his. Maybe I'm being too hard on him, but I just don't see any upside for him anymore. I'd like to see him make it back because he was pretty good before the accident, but I'm not sure he has it in him anymore. I'd be curious how much longer he's under contract for.

As another topic in here, did anyone see the Showtime MMA card they put on last weekend? I thought it was decent. Obviously a lower level of fighter, but it was kind of cool to see some guys making their way up. WAY better than watching that garbage on Tapout. Some of the guys even looked fairly decent in what they were doing. Nice to see MMA getting a little exposure on the major cable nets.

Giddy as a school girl. Scored tickets to UFC 76 today. Got the cheap $50 ones and I'm sitting a million miles away, but I'm there. First even and I'm pretty excited about it. Anyway, just wanted to share.

it can't hurt that he's the color guy for the WEC, which Zuffa owns

he still has some name recognition, and a lot of fans who remember the "old" Mir. Of course, no one's buying a ppv to watch Mir.

    Sherdog's new rankings!

Good stuff, finally a ranking good ranking system that we can debate about. The mmaweekly rankings are frankly quite bad.

Read those this morning. One thing that seemed a little weird was the "changing" justifications. For instance, Filho at #2 in the middleweight division with wins over no Top 10 fighters, while right below him is Henderson (the Pride champion) because "it's his lack of a win over a Top 10 fighter (though he has defeated quality opposition) that prevents him from making the top two." So, it's one spot, but it just seems a little hokey to have the rankings done in (still) a random way. I don't think it will ever be even close to right until we have a lot of these guys matching up irrespective of orgs. Hopefully that can happen someday.

Vera hasn't fought in a long long time. And even still doesn't have many quality wins. Say what you want about Tim Sylvia but he does have a few quality wins.

Fedor hasn't fought a real heavyweight in a while either but he's #1

    Lindland?
