I saw some of it.

Jake Shields looked good I thought after going through some adversity.

Agree on the Kimbo thing. Apparently he has been training with Bas, and he has nothing but good things to say about him. Can't really evaluate him though off of this fight and the Mercer one.

KJ Noons showed some pretty awesome striking. Nick Diaz continues to be an enigma. He has losses to Diego Sanchez and KJ Noons but has beaten Gomi. Weird.

Kinda disappointed Shields signed long term with EliteXC. Don't get me wrong, I like EliteXC, it's nice having a different show to watch and they usually put together a decent show/card but I think he could give the UFC WWs problems.

I only saw the 3 main fights. Diaz / Noons was looking to be a good fight until the doctor's stoppage. Good first round. Diaz is a strange character. It's antics like that which will prevent him from ever getting back to the UFC.

Shields did look good. Agreed, it would have been nice to see him in the UFC, but I guess EliteXC is treating him well enough to make him want to stay. Fitch vs Shields would be a good one someday.

As far as the Kimbo fight, I can't help but think Cantrell just wanted out. Over on Sherdog, some guy made a slo-mo animated GIF of the last 10 seconds, and none of the shots Kimbo "landed" looked like they did much, and Cantrell was tapping the second he hit the canvas. But like you said, Kimbo is training with Bas, so I think once he gets a decent opponent, he will still be able to hang with them.

UFC 78 VALIDATION is this Saturday by the way. Once again another stupid name.

Is anyone going to get this PPV? I'll probably get together with my buddies and watch it, so it'll be like 10 dollars each or so. No way would I just order this one by myself though.

While the main event is pretty bad, I think all the fights including the main event are compelling. It seems like this card would make for a really good Ultimate Fight Night card.

Anyways, I always enjoy watching Karo fight, and Ryo Chonan is a good opponent. It'll be interesting to see if Houston Alexander can continue his meteoric climb. Bisping and to a lesser extent Evans are coming off of disappointing efforts. I'm anxious to see both guys.

The fight I'm really looking forward to is Spencer Fisher-Frankie Edgar. I think it'll be fight of the night.

I'll either head to the bar and watch it, or download it the next day. Looking forward to seeing if Houston can keep up his winning ways. Fisher/Edgar definitely has FOTN written all over it. I also am interested in seeing how Herman and Parisiyan do as well. If Karo wins again, you gotta think he'd be right up there in contention, probably right behnid Fitch.

Yea, if Karo wins he'll probably be inline for a title shot. Maybe ahead of Fitch because Fitch beat Diego coming off a loss rather than beating an undefeated Diego. Small difference but I think it matters.

I believe Karo earned a title shot before and got hurt, which is why Hughes fought Riggs(I'm pretty sure this happend), so one could argue he's due one. Only problem GSP is in line for the title shot which won't happen till after February or so(since Serra-Hughes is in December). So the next title shot after that won't be until the summer. Kind of a long lay off for Diego.

Hopefully the UFC doesn't just sit Karo till then(if he wins). I'd love to see him fight, Fitch or Koscheck. Hell I'd love to see a rematch with Diego!

You are right that Riggs was a replacement for Karo. I think a Karo / Fitch fight for the #1 contender spot sounds about right.

Ah ok, I was hoping someone would confirm that tidbit. I wasn't sure if Riggs was a replacement for Karo or if Royce was a replacement for Karo.

Anyways, I think that fight makes the most sense.

What do you do with Koscheck? Match him up with Diego again? Maybe the loser of Serra-Hughes?
