Did anyone watch the WEC card last night? I Tivo'd it and it was actually a pretty good card. Most of the fights were exciting.

I thought Paulo Filho's opponent was going to be a walkthrough but Filho had a tough time with Sonnen and I thought he was losing until he put on that sick arm bar. I'm not sure what this does for Filho's stock, he struggled with a guy who took him down and kept him down and also got beat up standing up. But he pulled out the victory. I'd love to see him in the UFC's 185 pound mix.

Jens Pulver looked good in his return to 145 pounds and the Faber-Curran match was very exciting. Faber is a beast, I think he'll kill Jens when they match up.

Anyways, it was a good night of fights, if VS. replays it or you find the fights on the net, check them out.

Caught the last fight but that was it. Was pretty annoyed with the love affair they were having with Faber though. Thought Curran was looking great in that first round and all they did was praise Faber and his abilities to avoid being choked out. He looked good in the second. . .sorta. . .but it wasn't as clearcut as the sound would have you believe. More a knock on Mir and that other tool than Faber.

    TUF Finale payouts:

-Roger Huerta ($38,000) def. Clay Guida ($11,000)
-Mac Danzig ($16,000) def. Tommy Speer ($8,000)
-Jon Koppenhaver ($16,000) def. Jared Rollins ($8,000)
-George Sotiropoulos ($16,000) def. Billy Miles ($8,000)
-Ben Saunders ($16,000) def. Dan Barrera ($8,000)
-Troy Mandaloniz ($16,000) def. Richie Hightower ($8,000)
-Matt Arroyo ($16,000) def. John Kolosci ($8,000)
-Roman Mitichyan ($16,000) def. Dorian Price ($8,000)
-Jonathan Goulet ($14,000) def. Paul Georgieff ($8,000)

The UFC seems to be getting a little more generous with their payouts. $11,000 for Guida isn't great (obviously that's his existing contract), but $8,000 for everyone else with the win bonus doubling that isn't terrible. Especially because these guys are all still new and fairly unknown, and many of them will never be back in the UFC.

Mayhem comes off as a gigantic douche to me. I guess he's entertaining, and he's a solid fighter but I wouldn't want to hang out with him or anything.

Trigg-Miller should be a good fight on HDnet though.

    Franklin to return in March.

Good to see Franklin get back on the horse. Not sure what to think of Lutter, he had Silva in some compromising situations but couldn't finish the fight. This is a set up for Franklin, but Lutter could be a dangerous opponent.

The Battle of the Horrible Nicknames!!! J-Lau vs. Ken-Flo!!!

Ken Florian and Joe Lauzon have verbally agreed to meet in a headlining UFC lightweight bout on Spike TV, Florian’s camp confirmed Wednesday. The proposed match-up would see the pair of popular New England fighters meet in the main event for a UFC Fight Night tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 2.

Interesting, as far as where they stand in the division, I think Florian is far ahead of Lauzon. I figured with Florian doing color commentary for the Guida-Huerta fight that they would announce that Florian would fight the winner.

Maybe Florian's win against Din didn't prove much to Joe Silva since Din got hurt. I'm hoping this means Huerta fights Frankie Edgar. That would make for a great fight and it be a good #1 contender's match with the winner next inline after Sherk gets his chance.

This is a big step up in competition for Lauzon, it's not a bad situation though, if he wins he vaults himself in the "rankings" and if he loses it's not a big deal because he was supposed to lose.
