Bigfoot is a very promising HW. Word is he tore his MCL in training prior to the fight. I thought he looked a tad sluggish. I thought he would finish Ricco, sometime in the third.

Ricco is a disappointing fighter, he's obviously talented. He hung in there with Silva while being out of shape. Hopefully he gets in shape, but I doubt it!

well if Tank Abbott was a "ufc veteran" I can only expect that Kimbo will next be in against veteran Pride fighter Butterbean

Yea that fight might have been over a bit sooner if Bigfoot had a healthy MCL.

Update: EliteXC to Announce Deal with CBS

This is huge, never would have thought EliteXC would have beaten the UFC to the punch regarding major network TV.

On the surface, yes. But, keep in mind that Showtime is owned by CBS (or the other way around). It's a way to market their other brand and, hopefully, bring more money in. I don't think this is as big a shock as it seems when you consider that part.

Never said it was a shock, but keep in mind that this means network executives have signed off on Combat Sports. That is pretty huge IMO.

ABC and ESPN are a partnership but you don't see ABC showing boxing. I think this is a big sign, MMA becoming accepted main stream. UFC really dropped the ball not getting their brand out to one of the networks before EliteXC.

Anheuser-Busch is a nice sponsor for the MMA!

I was just saying that it's easier to get a deal when you're owned by something that is owned by a large network. It's just Showtime/CBS trying to sell a new product. Makes it easier to negotiate a deal when both sides are eating from the same trough. . .so to speak.

I think it's a foregone conclusion that MMA is getting acceptance though. It's been on ESPN for nearly a year now so, it was only a matter of time. It's where it goes from here that matters though.

Not really, ESPN has very little content on MMA. I'd venture to guess that 98% of their content is all sherdog stuff. And they don't cover every title fight.

Getting on ESPN was a step, but I think MMA is still far from being considered "accepted" into the main stream sports atmosphere.
