So it's going to be aired on HDNet, but promoted by Affliction (without Golden Boy), and not by Adrenaline MMA? And we still don't know if Fedor is actually signed to anyone or if this is jsut a 1 off. So Adrenaline is providing 1 of the fighters, someone else (M-1 Mixfight?) is providing the other, HDNet is supplying the ability to broadcast the fight, and Affliction (which has never actually promoted a fight before) is responsible for the actual promotion of the fight? And who the hell is picking up Fedor's $2 million tab? Yeah, this has success written all over it. Let's get a few more hands in the cookie jar on this one.
Yea, this sounds like how a boxing fight is made. One promoter gets his guy to fight another promoter's guy. I hope it happens, I want to see Fedor fight someone of significance.

Ah, see I was never that into boxing. I liked watching the big fights, but always knew nothing of the background. So when I first read it, it just seemed like too much of a clusterf*** to actually work out.

As far as the fight itself, yes, it'll be nice to see Fedor fight some real competition for a change. Not sure how I feel about the outcome yet. Need more time to think about it.

Boxing is a mess...I hope MMA doesnt go that route...All I know is that while I do really wanna see this fight, it sounds like money wise, the promoters are gonna be losing money on this one considering Fedor's outrageous 2mil per fight demands.

Yea who knows if it will go down or not.

It's just interesting to see how MMA fans think Fedor's 2 million dollar demands are outrageous, meanwhile a guy like Oscar De La Hoya makes 20 mil every fight. It's all relative I guess!

Oscar De La Hoya is a household name, the guy's complete gold when it comes to marketability, and being a ppv draw as well as selling tickets...simply put, the guy is a revnue machine....outside of the hardcore mma fan, 99% of people in the US have no idea who Fedor is...Fedor VS Anyone would never come close to making even a 1/4 of the money that a De La Hoya fight would bring in

Boxing salaries are just more in general. Floyd Mayweather wasn't a household name when he fought Zab Judah. He still made more money in that fight than Fedor has in his last 5 I bet.

Same with Manny Pacquiao, the average American doesn't know him, but he makes way more cash than any top MMA guy. My observation still stands, it's interesting to see MMA fans wondering how people can Fedor 2 million dollars to fight. Even guys in the UFC, the top organization in America don't clear what top boxers do. You say boxing is a mess, at least their fighters make what their worth.

Boxing just brings in so much more money than MMA it can afford to pay the boxers more...plus, every boxing match has one main event that makes all the money, and the major fights are like two or 3 times a year....UFC has an event every month, with 2 or 3 main events.

My analysis that boxing is a mess isnt in the money, it's the way that there's too many orgs, and too many belts...there's like 3 different champs at the same weight, and too many inbetween weights.

Yea, good thing I recorded the fights. I just skipped through all the commercials/BS commentary and when they said that the final fight was coming up, I thought to myself, "wow, that was 3 hours???".

I can't wait, but the closer it gets, the more I get this strange feeling that the 2nd fight is going to have the same outcome as the 1st. But god, I hope not. GSP all the way!!!
