Really action packed show I thought. Here are some initial thoughts.

-Penn dominated Sherk. It did look like Sherk hurt his hand midway though the fight but he was getting smoked well before that. BJ beat him to the punch whenever he wanted. Sherk was getting lit up standing up. I do think the injury prevented Sherk from trying to wrestle BJ but he didn't show any signs of trying for his famous double leg after the initial try from the outset.

-Beautiful flying knee, it's always fun when somebody lands one of those!

-Great to see the return of the Axe Murderer. I thought Jardine would pose some problems with his unorthodox style and striking. Jardine throws a lot of leg kicks and I thought that might have hampered Wanderlei. But Jardine never really got going and Wanderlei put tons of pressure on him in typical Wanderlei fashion. I don't care who Wanderlei fight next, but I'll be tuning in. Every fight he's in is an exciting war. Give him Rashad, it'll be a big test for Rashad and it'll give Wanderlei a tough style matchup.

-What a comeback by Reljic. I thought Gouveia had him and he lands this punch out of nowhere and ends up winning the fight. Crazy, lucky punch but great heart shown by Reljic.

-Lyoto really does have a stifling style. He kills the pace of any fight and gets people frustrated. Tito was visibly frustrated, and even though he looked way bigger it seemed like Lyoto was stronger. He pushed and shrugged off Tito in everytime.

-Can't believe Tito almost pulled off that submission by the way. Didn't think he had it in him!

-Nice to see Soko get back to winning ways.

-Finally, I'd love to see Penn fight GSP again. At 170, BJ isn't "forced" to be in shape but I think he's a dedicated fighter now and while he isn't in the greatest shape I don't think it is a weakness for him anymore. Does BJ deserve a shot at the WW title? Probably not, but it's a mega fight that all fans would love to see, sometimes exceptions can be made with regards to ranking and such when 2 uber talents can get in the ring together. A second fight would be fantastic matchup. GSP got lit up on the feet just like Sherk did. Not to that extent but he got messed up pretty bad. GSP eeked out a decision and while BJ has improved, GSP has improved as well. Make this fight Dana!

Herring agrees to fight Lesnar at UFC 87 - SI.com - Mixed Martial Arts

I think this is a much better fight than Lesnar-Coleman. I have no interest in seeing Coleman fight Lesnar. I mean, I think he's still a good fighter, in recent history he's only lost to elite level fighters but he doesn't have much of a future in the division.

Herring and Lesnar makes for an interesting matchup and probably the type of matchup that the UFC should have put together for Lesnar's debut. Classic striker vs wrestler matchup, I don't think Herring will be able to stop Lesnar's takedowns and Lesnar will win via ground and pound. I think it will look a lot like the Lesnar-Mir fight except Herring won't be able to sub Lesnar.

Didn't really see the card on Saturday. Caught the Wand / Jardine fight and the 2nd & 3rd rounds of BJ / Sherk. Nice to see Wanderlai come back with an impressive win. Jardine has a bit of a climb back into title contention after losing 2 of his last 3 in just over 1 minute. I agree ASU, Rashad / Silva seems like a good idea. It would be a great test for Rashad, and if he loses, he loses to 1 of the all time greats, no shame in that.

Sherk didn't have the reach to properly stand up with BJ. He needed to step inside the pocket to land anything, and when he did, Penn was there with a right or left that always connected. Not sure what Sherk was thinking, maybe it was because he hurt his hand.

I'm pretty sure Jardine is still on his TUF contract. But I certainly expected more for Sherk.

I believe this was Jardine's last fight on this contract. He'll certainly get more. Sherk is on the Rich Franklin contract as well. He'll make more on his next one too.

UFC Quick Quote: Georges St. Pierre can blame it on Rio at UFC blog for UFC news, results, videos, rumors, fights, pics and tickets — MMAmania.com

GSP is down in Brazil working on his Jiu-Jitsu. Seems like he's taking Fitch very seriously. Nice to see GSP still has that desire to learn and get better. I can't wait for this fight!

What's surprising to me is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest. You can still get $50/$100 seats as of today. The tickets have been on sale for a couple of weeks now. If this were a UFC event, those would have been gone in an hour. Regardless of the fights. I'm really thinking this event might not go over too well. I'm gonna buy tickets and pray it doesn't cancel.
