Wel, granted, I don't live in Southern California, but I haven't seen or heard of any advertising being done apart from some banners on MMA websites.

There's actually a billboard that I saw (in Los Angeles) advertising for it. I've also seen a handful of posters at bus stops. That's about it though. It seems to be relying on word of mouth and, when you're not very big and you're spending a LOT of money on the event, that's not the best strategy in my opinion.

If that's the case though, how can you give Forrest round 2 at a 10-8 score?

So, if Forrest gets credit for nullifying a slam, doesn't Rampage get any for nullifying the sub attempts? I'm just saying that I don't think that is a 10-8 round is all. No doubt Forrest won it, just not by that score.
Regarding the 10-8 round. What you're not bringing up is the fact that Rampage did nothing offensive in the round. Nothing whatsoever. When you get basically knocked down via leg kicks and mounted, you have to do something to earn a 10-9.

Similar to the first round, it wasn't 10-9 because Forrest had some offense prior to getting knocked down. Rampage did NADA in round 2. No he doens't get credit for nullifying sub defenses, his credit is he didn't lose via submission. If he had landed 5 punches it could have been 10-9. But he did nothing AND got dominated so it was a 10-8.

Haven't done a post fight matchmaking in awhile and this card seemed like a good one to do so here goes.

    Winners

    Forest Griffin

This one is pretty simple for me. Because the fight was so close and in other people's eyes controversial an immediate rematch is in store. Juanito has said that he asked for the immediate rematch in the ring and he was told that it will happen. I think that's the right move for the UFC. It was a close fight and I don't think there is a contender lined up. The two closest are Lyoto and probably Chuck. In fact I would like to see those two scrap rather than Chuck and Evans. But since that didn't happen a Lyoto-Shogun fight or Lyoto-Wanderlei fight would be fine with me and that would make sense.

    Patrick Cote

I think Dana had said that the winner of Cote-Almeida would get Anderson Silva. I don't think that makes much sense but Silva has seemingly cleaned out 185 and a Silva-Cote fight would be pretty exciting for the first few minutes until Cote gets knocked out. I don't think he deserves a title shot, I think Yushin Okami deserves one more, I think those two should fight, to fight Anderson Silva, but I think Dana likes the probability of the fireworks that could happen in a Silva-Cote fight.

    Joe Stevenson

Best guillotine in the game? I think so, Joe Daddy can seemingly get his guillotine out of nowhere to end fights. Tibau was getting the better of Joe in the fight but got sloppy and was caught. Stevenson is a talented fighter, it's easy to forget how young he is because he's had so many fights. Stevenson's next fight should be against a top 10 guy. I would like to see him fight the loser of Florian-Huerta or even Sherk.

    Josh Koscheck

Koscheck looked good against Lytle, a tough guy who is really tough to finish. He's looked great in his last two fights, finishing Hazelett and dominating Lytle. Koscheck is maybe 1-2 fights away from a title shot. A rematch against Diego wouldn't be a bad idea, especially since their first fight failed to live up to the hype. Diego is fighting Thiago Alves, so I figure Koscheck should fight the winner of that fight. Koscheck-Alves would really be interesting. Alves is huge/powerful, it would be interesting to see what Koscheck does in a fight against him. Another good test would be Karo. That would be an interesting matchup.

    Tyson Griffin

Another win for Griffin but another decision victory. I don't have any problems with fighters that win via decision but in a stacked division, it'll be hard to get a title shot if you aren't finishing fights, that's just a fact. Griffin is a solid fighter, well rounded and fights at a good pace. How about a fight with Matt Wiman who is on a bit of a win streak? That could be exciting, Wiman has looked great in his last few fights.

    Gabriel Gonzaga

Gonzaga looked great against Justin McCully. Dominated him in every aspect of the game. McCully isn't very good so Gonzaga was supposed to dominate but he sure did look good. Gonzaga is talented and is a big HW, I wouldn't mind seeing him fight the winner of Brock Lesnar-Heath Herring.

I have a bachelor party to go to on Saturday, so no Affliction or UFC for me.

Not I. Actually going to be there. : )

I'm curious to see how it shakes down and what they do. If I had to guess, it would be similar to the Pride shows. I'm hoping not, but it's what I'd imagine.

As of today, still able to get $50 seats (in a lot of 8 by the way). That doesn't bode well for attendance. I have a feeling they'll be giving tickets away soon. . .but to who?
