Thread: Other than Olympic Hockey

What other Olympic events do you look forward to seeing.

Mine are in this order:

1) Bobsled (2-4 man)
2) Any Downhill Skiing
3) Luge, Skeleton and Ski Jumping - These guys are nuts!
4) Speed Skating
5) Snowboarding

The rest I can live with or without.

The Closing Ceremonies. I can't wait for this **** to be over and television and the sports page to go back to normal.

I like all the skiing and snow board events. Also like the speed skating events as well.

Curling. HAAAARD!

Hmm...

Snowboard Cross - Pretty sweet sport.
Speed Skating (Short track) - Can only do short track. The longer ones seem boring to me.
Figure skating - I never cared about this in the past, but giving it a chance this year and it seems alright. Obviously, I prefer watching women figure skate instead of the men.
Luge - Always liked this sport. Insane how fast they go.

Snowboarding does not belong in the Olympics - they already have their own platform - X-Games - It needs to stay there.
They have a new event this yest - Ski Cross - which is gonna suck too.

Moguls are OK except for the stupid tricks they throw in there.

I'm just waiting to see if this German speed skater will keep her streak of fourth place finishes intact next week:

Daniela Anschutz-Thoms' medal jinx has struck yet again after she finished fourth in a major event for an unbelievable 15th time.

Right up until the last lap, Germany's unluckiest Olympian looked set to break the mold and grab silver in the women's 3000 metre speed skating race.

But eventually the 35-year-old fell short, losing out on third place by just three hundredths of a second.

No matter how hard poor old Daniela tries, she just can’t escape fourth place.

For a total of 15 times in the last 12 years, she has just missed out on the medals at big events like the Olympics, World Championships and the European Championships.

After the race in Vancouver she moaned: "*****! ***** follows me wherever I go! I made no mistakes, I’m endlessly disappointed."

Sarcastically she added: "Winning all my fourth places has always been a close call."

In the evening she washed down her frustration with a cold beer in a bar. Quietly she said: "This is a black day for me. It couldn’t possibly be any worse."

It's not all over yet, though – the 5,000 metre race takes place next Wednesday. The German speed skater still has a few days to regain her strength and build up her shattered confidence.

Maybe next time she will finally manage to break the cycle and get her hands on one of those medals!
