Default Talk about denial... Josh Hancock's father suing everybody

Guess Hancock's blood content being nearly twice the legal limit for alcohol in his system when he crashed into the back of the tow truck, had pot in the SUV, the fact he was also speeding, using a cell phone and wasn't wearing a seat belt doesn't mean much

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The father of Josh Hancock filed suit Thursday, claiming a restaurant provided drinks to the St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher even though he was intoxicated prior to the crash that killed him.

The suit, filed in St. Louis Circuit Court by Dean Hancock of Tupelo, Miss., does not specify damages. Mike Shannon's Restaurant, owned by the longtime Cardinals broadcaster who starred on three World Series teams in the 1960s, is a defendant in the case along with Shannon's daughter, Patricia Shannon Van Matre, the restaurant manager.

Other defendants include Eddie's Towing, the company whose flatbed tow truck was struck by Hancock's sport utility vehicle in the early hours of April 29; tow truck driver Jacob Edward Hargrove; and Justin Tolar, the driver whose stalled car on Interstate 64 was being assisted by Hargrove.

It isn't about Hancock, but just stupid lawsuits.

I think it is about the Hancocks. There are fraudulent cases all over the place. The reason this one is newsworthy is because it is a sports story as well. The overwhelming denial of the dead athlete's father is why the story is important, not that its a lawsuit with no merit. Therefore, the originator of this thread actually put it in the right forum.

Hmm... I actually did a search (key word - Hancock) before I posted this and nothing on this story came up, nor did I see anything regarding the topic in this forum. So any babble about redundant posts is BS

Imagine: You are a tow truck driver helping a disabled motorist and my drunk son ran into you. You are sooooo sued!

The Cardinals and Major League Baseball were not listed as defendants.
Gotta love the writer's sense of humor.

    It's always somebody elses fault.

I wonder why they didn't sue the cell phone company, the taxpayers that paid for the HIGHway he was on, the dealer that sold him the pot, the man who caused the disabled vehicle to spin out, blah blah blah. This is just amazing. A 30 year old man is not responsible for himself, it's the 21 year old serving him drinks. As if they were like "please don't leave Mr. Hancock, have another one first". Give me an f'n break!

If anything it should be the tow truck driver, the person in the disabled vehicle, the cardinals/mlb suing him. The tow truck driver and driver of the disabled vehicle are probably dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and the Cardinals/MLB should sue on the grounds that he embarrassed the team/league with his actions. I smell a countersuit.

A sad incident indeed but really we should be thankful that he didn't kill anyone else besides himself.

Judging by the spelling prowess of many on this board it was probably misspelled.
