Yeah, what a downer... I guess they want to save the NXT invasion storyline for the RAW brand only and not even on NXT itself.

As for Smackdown though, it was still a very enjoyable show. I'll do a recap/review, hopefully you guys can do the same and we'll see how the thread goes!

    ------------------------------------

    - Great start to Smackdown with Mysterio, Swagger, Punk, and Big Show on the mic. They were all bickering back and forth for about 20 minutes! I could honestly listen to them all on the mic all day long... lol

Like when Rey asked why Punk is hiding behind the mask after he shaved his head.. Punk claims he wasn't bald and then Big Show's music hit and Punk said, "Big Show is bald" while he came out. I also believe it was Big Show that was making fun of Swagger's lisp and Swagger said on the mic calmly, "I do not have a lisp." Just great humor all around really. =]

    - Swagger vs Rey was a good match... I got annoyed because they put in 3 commercial breaks in this match and they all happened in like 2-3 minute spans. I guess their mic segment ran way too long and they had to put in the commercials somewhere. I gotta admit, not too happy with Swagger losing so often as the World Heavyweight Champion.

    - Layla vs Tiffany was standard. Typical divas match. Laycool = AWESOME. Or should I say, flawless?

    - Christian vs Dolph Ziggler was pretty okay. I really like how they put Vickie with Dolph. That should get him pretty good heel heat for sure. Vance Archer and Curt Hawkins contract "expired" at midnight so they made another impact by running in and attacking Christian. Can't say the future is too bright for Curt and Vance, but I hope they stick around for another month or so.

    - Drew McIntyre/Kofi Kingston/Teddy Long segment was... eh. I don't like what they are doing with Drew McIntyre at all. If anything, they dropped the ball completely with this guy. Let's recap real quick shall we?

Drew McIntyre became the "chosen one" as Vince McMahon told him in a backstage segment when he was new.

He won a ton of matches and was undefeated for a few months.

Leading up to Wrestlemania, he lost two Money in the Bank qualifying matches and he had his losses expunged.

Then at the Smackdown tapings that Watti and I went to.. Drew McIntyre got squashed by Undertaker in like a minute to give him his first "official" defeat.

So at Wrestlemania, he didn't do anything impressive, nor did he come close to winning the match. After Wrestlemania, he has been beating up Matt Hardy over and over.

The storyline now is that Matt Hardy is suspended from Smackdown & RAW because Drew complains to Vince everytime he loses/get beat up.

Drew loses the IC Title to Kofi Kingston and now gets beat up by Kofi and Matt Hardy week after week.

Now tell me, how is that good for his character?

Next week, Drew faces Teddy in a match. If Teddy doesn't show up, he gets "fired".

    - Big Show vs CM Punk in the main event. This match was entertaining because of the comedy factor. CM Punk, oddly enough.. knew he had no chance to beat Big Show.

One really funny part was when the crowd kept chanting "Take it off" (refering to Punk's mask). Punk was trapped in the corner at a turnbuckle and Show was grabbing at his mask. Punk turns away from Big Show holding onto his mask and that left him wide open for Big Show to slap Punk hard on the back. That part was all comedy and they pulled it off well.

    - Kane coming in to chokeslam Big Show, Luke Gallows, Mystery Masked Man/Joey Mercury, Rey Mysterio and Swagger (early in the show) was great also. Kane has been needing a storyline for a long time. Undertaker being in a vegetative state is good story for Kane.

    ----------------------------------

I'm definitely going to watch RAW tonight and see where they go with the NXT story. Did you all hear that Daniel Bryan got released? Not sure if it's a fake release or not... but websites are reporting its real because he choked Justin Roberts with his own tie last monday night. And apparently.. choking with ropes/object is banned since Chris Benoit hung himself with a noose. We'll have to wait and see...

fyi in case you didn't hear Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan was released Friday night

the line is that the tie spot and spitting violated the "PG" standards and the no choking policy put in post Chris Benoit's death. The rumor is that it was someone influential outside the company, probably either Mattel or from Linda McMahon's campaign and that Danielson is a scapegoat that will be brought back when the heat dies down.

There's also a rumor of it being an elaborate work, but I don't buy that.

I definitely thought it was a work but I guess it was true after all. However, after what happened on RAW.. something tells me that its still a work.

    RAW Review - 6/14/10

NXT/Bret Hart Opening segment - I was totally looking forward to this and I'm glad they kicked off the show with it. First things first... Wade Barrett. Man is this guy great on the mic or what? You can clearly see why he won NXT and deservingly so. He is ready for the WWE. The rest? Eh, I'm not so sure but they'll learn. I also liked how they mentioned the Daniel Bryan thing and got it out of the way quickly (since he wasn't there).

As for Bret Hart... I never thought I'd say this but get him off of TV. Last night was probably the 3rd time he called the company "WWF" again. Is he *not* getting in trouble for doing that? My biggest gripe is that this guy is stumbling all over his lines and just makes the segment and himself look pretty bad.

Wade Barrett with all his demands was pretty cool. The "firing" came off a little weak because you know that wasn't the end of NXT.

R-Truth (US Champ) vs John Morrison vs Zack Ryder vs The Miz - Pretty darn good match for free TV. The outcome was quite predictable because Cole and Lawler kept mentioning over and over that the champ had a 25% chance of retaining. And of course, this match is only happened because they had to promote the Fatal Four Way PPV which happens to be this Sunday. The Miz can now proudly call himself the 2-time US Champion. As short as the title reign was for R-Truth, it might be even shorter for The Miz because R-Truth invoked his rematch clause and they'll face off in a one on one match this Sunday.

    Evan Bourne vs Chris Jericho

The good: They're pushing Evan Bourne.

    The bad: They're burying Jericho.

I understand that Jericho has openly came out and said that he is comfortable with losing because he knows it doesn't hurt his reputation. This match says otherwise because Evan Bourne kicked out of Jericho's codebreaker, making it look like an extremely weak finisher more than ever. Oh yeah, is it true that Vince McMahon is upset with him because he took a hosting gig on ABC's new summer show 'Downfall'?

NXT Rookies/Cena/WWE Locker Room segment - This was a pretty damn cool segment. Let's get my complaints out of the way first...

#1 - If Wade Barrett was "fired" and the same goes for the rest of the NXT people... why the hell were they still in the arena? Better yet, why were they all in tights?

#2 - They never explained where the hell the WWE locker room was last week when Cena, Punk, and Gallows were the only ones being assaulted.

Now the good stuff. I liked that the NXT superstars meant what they said. They want contracts in the WWE and are willing to do whatever it takes to get it. It's odd that we had people like Regal, Santino, Primo, The King etc coming to the aid of Cena.. lol

It was cool when we saw Orton, Edge, and even Sheamus with a lead pipe in hand coming to the aid of Cena. Brand unity comes first and their feud comes second.

So the RAW locker room clearly outnumbered the NXT guys. They were literally chased out of the arena and ended with Santino running all the way outside.. o_o I'll admit, as of that moment right there.. I was afraid WWE dropped the ball on the NXT storyline and that it might have been over... but I'll get to that later.

Eve (Divas Champ) & Gail Kim vs Alicia Fox & Maryse - Standard tag match to promote their Fatal Four Way match this Sunday. I didn't really pay attention to this match but I noticed that Gail Kim didn't even get tagged in.

Raw Guest Host Mark Feuerstein & Big Show vs Ted DiBiase & Virgil - Comedy match of the night. Poor Virgil! Is this the last we've seen of him? Can anyone tell me what the hell is WWE doing with Ted DiBiase? Ever since Legacy broke off Ted and Cody has done NOTHING. I know Ted DiBiase is doing his dad's old gimmick with the "Everyone has a price" thing... but it hasn't gotten him anywhere. He had one singles match at a recent PPV and he lost to R-Truth.

As for Cody, ever since he got drafted to Smackdown he only appeared on that show once. He has been stuck doing WWE Superstars, the jobber show.

Santino Marella vs William Regal. Special Guest Referee: Vladimir Kozlov - Super short match. I guess they needed a filler match before the main event.

John Cena (WWE Champ) & Randy Orton vs Edge & Sheamus - Okay. Let's go back to where I was afraid the NXT storyline was over. After the Santino/Regal match, when Bret Hart called out the RAW Roster to watch the main event on the stage, I immediately thought, "YES! The NXT angle isn't over!".

Again, a tad predictable as to what was going to happen because if the RAW Roster is on the stage, who was backstage with Bret Hart? One noteable superstar was not on the stage and that was Chris Jericho. So Jericho and I guess all the Divas aren't considered a part of the RAW roster since they weren't out there.

The match itself was quite long and was really there to promote the PPV and eat up time.

So we see the "NXTers" destroy the backstage area and who do they have? None other than the GM of RAW.. Bret Hart. Awesome! The storyline is far from dead! It'll even drag over to the PPV, which is great because none of the matches advertised seem to be worth the cost of a PPV.

    - Quick thing I'd like to point out. So its okay to abduct a person and throw him to the back of limo and crash it against other cars in a parking lot and it's not okay to choke someone with a tie? Got it.

Is it because kids in general have access to a tie and not access to a limo?

I cannot wait for Smackdown and the Fatal Four Way PPV. Bravo to the WWE for doing something interesting again. My apologies for complaining so much, but I guess I do that all the time when I'm watching wrestling!

I hope it's all a work. Everybody seems to have such a high opinion of Daniel Bryan, I want to see what all the fuss is about. It seems funny they'd let him go for something so minor. Like you mention below, Bret Hart can get away with regularly calling it the WWF... Jericho and Ric Flair got away with a bloody massacre on the air last year with seemingly no repercussions... It just seems like such a non-issue.

And just the way that they actually addressed it on Raw makes me think it might just be a work after all. WWE will usually just sweep stuff like that under the rug and just simply never mention it again...

Cena's tweets/blog posts or whatever also make me question it...

But who knows. Maybe there's more behind the scenes that we don't know about, but it really looks fishy from this side.

Ugh... sad but true. He's so terrible on the mic now, and most of it is related to the stroke, I'm sure. You can tell when he gets into the ring and does that thing with his hands, when he says "What's up" it looks like he's almost biting his tongue.

But because he's Bret Hart, I'm going to disagree with you and say keep him on TV. He gets a free pass from me, all things considered.

Definitely shaping up to be the best of the NXT rookies, I agree there...

They were protecting Bret Hart backstage.

I thougth that was pretty cool, too.

    I blinked and missed it.

I couldn't help but wonder how old Virgil is when he was getting tossed around in the ring... Sure, it was all in-ring stuff, but he was taking some pretty heavy bumps. Surely they hurt more than being strangled by a necktie...

    hehe Good point.

One other random thing I read somewhere recently... I guess the WWE has registered a new trademark, called "The Network." I wonder if it's related to the long-rumored WWE cable channel, or if it's the name of the NXT stable, hence the "N" on their armbands.

And what does it mean for Daniel Bryan?

Oh and apparently THQ's next game is going to be WWE Superstars? Anyone hear anything about this from E3 yet?

SvR2010 was awesome, lots of potential but the lack of official DLC and the ************************************* on every other line of the created stories kind of sucked....

I think I read that WWE Superstars game is more arcadey. Maybe like a side game like Legends of Wrestlemania.

I wonder if SVR11 will say "Featuring NXT" =)
