    Smackdown Review - 7/9/10

After two weeks of missing out on Smackdown, I made sure to catch it and I am glad I did! I felt like I missed out on Swagger's "evolution". More on that in a bit...

Drew McIntyre/Teddy Long segment - Drew McIntyre is back after getting his visa issues worked out. This time, he doesn't have Mr. McMahon in his "back pocket" since Vince is dead/injured/whatever because of Nexus.

It was interesting to see Drew McIntyre get on his knees and beg. Teddy Long (is he still on probation?) says Drew still has to earn his spot in the MITB match. So he'll face Kofi later in the show.

Quote Originally Posted by Matt Young

I think since Teddy is a face GM, he doesn't want to **** anyone over. If he was a heel GM and if Drew was a face, then by all means... he is free to screw whoever he wants (like Miss Vickie Guerrero).

MITB Qualifying Match: Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero vs Chavo Guerrero vs MVP - Even though this was a qualifying match, I found it more to be your humor match of the night. The concept was simple... Triple Threat Match. Winner is in the MITB match. However, since Chavo is Vickie's nephew... his goal was to help Dolph Ziggler win the match.

It was a fun Handicap Match to watch for the most part. Even interesting to see Chavo being happy go lucky when Dolph is going for a pinfall. The tide changed when Chavo took a glance at the briefcase hanging above the ring. This is what I like to see. Chavo, ignoring Vickie's orders and TRYING to win the match for himself. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. MVP managed to hit the Play of the Day on Chavo and then Vickie pulled the ref out as he was about to count to 3.

Quote Originally Posted by Matt Young

I agree. After Vickie dragged the ref out to prevent MVP from beating Chavo, Dolph just locked on his submission move and won abruptly. I don't think Vickie asked the ref to stop the match or anything like that. They're just trying to sell Dolph's new submission hold as "extremely vicious" so that the sleeper put MVP out in a hurry.

Either way, great to see Dolph in the MITB match. Chavo would have been a really good choice too. I'm just glad MVP isn't in it. He's just so boring as a face. I can't wait until they make him a heel again.

Winner: Dolph Zigger by Submission using a Sleeper Hold.

Jack Swagger assaults Rey Mysterio backstage - Josh Matthews was backstage interviewing the "doctor" and Rey Mysterio about his "injury". I couldn't help but laugh when the doctor said that the Ankle Lock Jack Swagger put on him last week caused Rey's feet/ankle to swell. Then when the camera shows his taped up feet, there is clearly no swelling.

Anyway. Jack Swagger does a "SURPRISE!" thing and just comes through the door and puts the ankle lock on Rey Mysterio. This dragged on for quite a bit, but I loved how evil they made Jack Swagger. I totally agree with Matt Young by saying... Why couldn't they make Jack Swagger like this when he had the World Heavyweight Title? But like I mentioned at the beginning of my post... this is Swagger's "evolution" and I like it!

Jack eventually drags Rey to the side of the stage and Big Show finally comes out for the save. Was he too busy eating backstage or something to come out 5 minutes earlier? Rey must not be very liked if none of the faces came to his aid either.

Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer vs Christian & Matt Hardy - Matt Hardy wrestling in a black tank top? Is he trying to be like Jeff? This match was really short... Christian turned on Matt Hardy because Matt attacked him during the Peep Show last week. The Gate Crashers (if they're still calling them that) quickly won the match when Vance Archer hit a nice move (was that his finisher?) and then tagged Curt Hawkins so he can use his Heat Seeker finisher.

Winner: Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer by Pinfall after Curt Hawkins hit the Heat Seeker finisher on Matt Hardy.

MITB Qualifying Match: Drew McIntyre vs Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Champion) - There is something about these two wrestlers that I like when they face each other. They just mesh really well together and it's fun to watch. Not really many near falls but the finish came when Kofi was trying to do his Boom Drop on Drew at the Ring Apron. Drew dragged him into the turnbuckle and gave him the Future Shock DDT to qualify for the last spot in the Smackdown MITB match.

Winner: Drew McIntyre by Pinfall after the Future Shock DDT.

Straight Edge Society Segment - I apparently missed Serena falling off the wagon and drinking last week or something! Serena had "footage" of CM Punk getting mad at Serena as a bar the night the Undertaker was put in his vegetative state. Apparently, if Serena didn't come out to show Kane the footage, he would have "destroyed" CM Punk.

Which leads me to Kane real quick. He went after the SES for no reason with no proof until Serena admitted to the WWE Universe that she fell off the wagon. Now Kane has a new target with no proof. Again, more on that later.

Back to the SES. Luke Gallows is pissed off at Serena and wants her out. Serena wants to be forgiven and Punk does just that. Luke Gallows is pissed and walks out. Again, I agree with Matt Young. I'm not sure where they're going with this..

Quote Originally Posted by Matt Young

It does seem like they forgot about Joey Mercury. It's weird though, they have him appear whenever they want with no explanation for his appearance. Plus, we all knows that he works all the house shows as a SES member.

Dashing Cody Rhodes vs JTG - Shad? Forgotten. JTG? Beating jobbers and losing to better wrestlers.

So after they drafted Cody Rhodes to Smackdown, he hardly appeared. I don't watch WWE Superstars and I know they had him wrestle useless matches on that show. Was he "Dashing" on Superstars? He certainly was on NXT when I saw him this past Tuesday.

His music is AWESOME. It has heel written all over it and it's way better than his generic music when he split with Legacy. The entrance at the ramp was sweet! He's looking at some digital mirror and you can see his reflection on the stage. Imagine if he won the MITB and posed with the briefcase? Or better yet, a title!

I'm excited about his "makeover" and I can't wait to see how far they can push Dashing Cody Rhodes.

Winner: Dashing Cody Rhodes by Pinfall with the Cross Rhodes finisher.

LayCool & Kelly Kelly Backstage Segment - Before Kelly Kelly can talk about her first ever Title match against Layla at MITB, LayCool attacks her and calls her Smelly Kelly. Tiffany checks on Kelly Kelly after she gets assaulted. That's their diva segment of the night.

Big Show vs Jack Swagger - The match was a quick one. Big Show got in most of the offense while Swagger showed that he was relentless in going after Show's leg and trying to apply the Ankle Lock. I seriously can't stop thinking of Jack Swagger, the All-American American as Kurt Angle #2.

So Swagger gets the upper hand on Big Show at the entrance ramp area before Kane abducts him. Kane puts him in a room that has red lighting to show that he's in "hell"? WTF?

Quote Originally Posted by Matt Young

Totally agree again. What a way to make Swagger look weak at the end of the show. Make him cry.

Kane needs to show some damn proof himself instead of going after others for no reason. Swagger claims he has an alibi though. But of course, he says he'll tell Kane next week. Are we suppose to believe this? Kane is upset about his brother being put in a vegetative state, but is willing to wait a week for Swagger to prove his innocence?

    Double Countout

They also aired two Alberto del Rio vignettes..

They were definitely boring. The big giveaway is that he will be a heel when he debuts. But when your promo is boring, no one will give a damn. Hopefully he isn't another Eric Escobar in the making.

I'm going to miss some of RAW tomorrow night since I'll be going out to dinner with some of my co-workers. I'll definitely read the results and watch some clips on Youtube to see what I missed.

Did anyone watch RAW? I need a recap with opinions. I just read the results and they don't quite do justice.

By the way, I read TNA Impact spoilers and again.. they're copying WWE big time. It's a huge spoiler, so I'll say nothing more unless no one really cares about spoilers for that show.

I didn't think anything was great about selling the PPV. The NWO 2.0 now have lame "N" shirts. Oh boy I bet those are big sellers at the merchandise stand.

Still haven't had a chance to watch Raw yet, but yeah, the N on those Nexus shirts is waaaaaay too big.

Unfortunately, they don't have heel wrestlers merchandise for sale at the arena. =\ It's always John Cena, Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, and HHH stuff. Orton stuff is probably there now since he's a face.

I watched NXT last night since the MLB All-Star game was boring as hell. And NXT sucked yet again... this might be the last time I'll watch it and I'll explain why in my review.

    Angry

    NXT Review - 7/13/10

As I mentioned in my previous post... the MLB All-Star game was extra slow (therefore making it boring), so I watched NXT. Boy did I regret doing so. Yeah I know, I could have just turned it off but the main event was really interesting on paper. Unfortunately, the match was one of the worst I have ever seen. Be warned though.. I'm going to be complaining about 95% of the time. =\

Nexus & WWE Pros Segment - The show kicked off with Matt Striker and Ashley Valence taking turns introducing the WWE Pros and Nexus members one by one. I have to ask... what is the point of having Ashley there? Matt Striker is fine on the mic and does a way better job. I know Ashley is new, but her voice sounds a tad annoying when she's trying to announce a wrestler's name. It just doesn't seem like a 2 person job, you know?

Anyway... LayCool is missing from the show and the excuse we got is that they were at a spa getting a massage.

Only 6 Nexus members were at the show and this is my gripe. Darren Young is still selling his "injuries" because of what Cena did last week on RAW. Why hasn't Cena sold any of his injuries? Nexus beat him down week after week and he shows up a week later 100%. I know Cena is a main eventer and all, but it makes no sense. At least have Darren Young show up with his body taped up or have his arm in a sling.

So Wade Barrett asks the Pros not to cause trouble because they're just here to watch NXT in peace. Yeah right.

Mark Henry & Lucky Cannon vs The Miz (US Champion) & Alex Riley - Before this match even began.. I don't like it already. NXT should be about the rookies, not RAW superstars continuing their feud. Sure, Lucky Cannon and Alex Riley worked most of the match... but it was heavily overlooked because of Mark Henry and The Miz because of what happened on RAW the night before. Plus, they're trying to continue this mini-feud for the MITB PPV on Sunday.

I liked parts of the match. Even though the focus was solely on Mark Henry and The Miz, I liked how The Miz was "afraid" to fight Mark Henry. So he made his rookie do the job. Sure, Alex Riley wasn't happy about it, but he wasn't one to complain. He did his best, despite getting his a** kicked. lol

The 'Showtime' Percy Watson Show - They used the MVP Lounge for his talk show and it works since MVP is his pro. Percy is not going to make it in the WWE if he continues to talk the way he talks.

So after some nonsense, he says something about making an impact. Which means he was trying to turn on MVP by having NXT Season 2 rookies come out to jump him. MVP said he knew something like that would happen, so he has backup himself. His backup? The WWE Pros of Season 2. This is why I was complaining about the previous match because suddenly The Miz and Mark Henry are on the same side.

Matt Striker comes out and announces a battle royal and Wade Barrett wanted Nexus to join in on the fun. He said that at the end of the night, he will be the only man left standing in the ring.

20-Man Battle Royal: Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Michael Tarver, Skip Sheffield, The Miz, John Morrison, Dashing Cody Rhodes, Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston, MVP, Zack Ryder, Percy Watson, Michael McGillicutty, Lucky Cannon, Kaval, Husky Harris, Eli Cottonwood, & Alex Riley - Now we know why LayCool was missing. Imagine them in the battle royal.

This is why I didn't tune away from NXT. 20 Man Battle Royal? That has AWESOMENESS written all over. Boy did the match disappoint big time...

Right when the bell rang, all six members of Nexus immediately went out of the ring. Not over the top rope, so they weren't eliminated. You would think the WWE Pros would want a piece of Nexus for all the trouble they've caused right? Naaaaaah! Let's just fight each other and NXT Season 2 rookies instead!

So they fight for a bit and as each person gets eliminated, Nexus jumps them at ringside. After 10 or so minutes of this nonsense, Nexus jumps back into the ring and fight. Obviously, Nexus sticks together and they team up against everyone else. Eventually, the NXT Season 2 Rookies all get eliminated and now its time for the Pros to be stupid.

It was 6 on 5 (minus Mark Henry and MVP who are already eliminated) and Zack Ryder "stepped up to bat". He said, "Woo Woo Woo! I'm better than you, you, and you. You're nothing! You're nothing!" I personally liked that because he was true to his character. What's stupid is that The Miz decided to play his heel character and eliminate Zack Ryder in the process.

We hear John Morrison, Kofi Kingston, and Dashing Cody Rhodes scream, "What are you doing?!" to The Miz. It is nowhere near the end of the show and they're clearly stalling for time... You can tell when Dashing Cody Rhodes AND Justin Gabriel kept checking with the ref every 2-3 minutes.

Keep in mind that this is suppose to be a every man for themselves battle royal. We're not watching a match here because they're just standing around.

Anyway... after more stalling, The Miz just eliminates himself so he doesn't have to fight Nexus. So it's 6 on 3... and Dashing Cody Rhodes decides that he should play heel and sit back while John Morrison and Kofi Kingston get beat down.

The beat down dragged. We finally see Nexus throw Morrison and Kingston out of the ring. Again, this is my complaint. Dashing Cody Rhodes has been working as a face with the WWE Pros up until the end. But I guess he remembers that he's a heel so he sat back. Now that he's the only one left... he doesn't eliminate himself like The Miz did to stay a heel. Instead, he kind of plays the role as a face again and gets beat up 6 on 1 before finally getting eliminated.

WWE then forgets their own rules again and declares Nexus the winner of the battle royal even though its every man for themselves. You would think that because Wade Barrett is the leader, you would see the other 5 Nexus just climb over the top rope and eliminate themselves before coming back in the ring to celebrate. That would have been more effective because it would show that Nexus is willing to follow Barrett's lead so they can achieve their goal in the WWE.

I did like Wade Barrett's line to close the show. "You're either Nexus or against us." Does this mean he's recruiting?

    -------------------------------

Overall, it was a terrible show. Too much stalling... still way too many video clips that no one cares about. Add terrible booking to the show and you have a recipe for disaster.

I apologize again for b*tching and moaning. I just could not find anything positive that came out of the show. And WWE wonders why no one wastes their time watching NXT.

    Smackdown Review - 7/16/10

The final Smackdown before the Money in the Bank PPV! Tonight was a pretty good episode and it promoted the PPV quite well.

Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Champion) vs Dashing Cody Rhodes

This was a really good match to kick off Smackdown. It was fast paced and it fit these two guys really well. There wasn't much story to this match except that they're both in the MITB Ladder match. They had about 15 minutes of action before Kane decided to interrupt the match for no reason.

Kane chokeslammed Kofi Kingston and Dashing Cody Rhodes so he could talk on the mic. He just said that he doesn't believe Jack Swagger and that he's a liar. He said he will bludgeon Swagger tonight and the crowd popped. I don't even know what the hell bludgeon means.

    No Contest

    Drew McIntyre vs Christian

Another fast paced match between these two superstars. Seeing action like this made me a little more excited about the Smackdown MITB match because it seems new and different. Lots of high flying moves in this match and lots of reversals.

The end came when Drew McIntyre gave Christian a thumb to the eye when the ref wasn't looking. The ref then proceeded to get in Christian's way trying to check on him and Christian ate the Future Shock DDT to lose the match.

Winner: Drew McIntyre by Pinfall after hitting the Future Shock DDT.

Straight Edge Society & Big Show segment

This turned out to be a really funny segment. The SES was out in the ring talking about being straight edge. Strangely enough, Punk was kind of promoting the MITB match despite being injured. Big Show decides to be rude and interrupts Punk as he was talking. It was funny to see Punk say things like, "Excuse me. I'm talking. Hello? Its this mic on? Cut his music! I'm talking!". Punk was clearly agitated and it was weird to see Big Show's music continue to play while Punk got upset.

Big Show had a regular ladder and Hornswoggle's ladder. The SES stepped out the ring because Big Show was rude but they were kind enough to wait until he finished. Big Show basically introduced a bigger ladder that is fit for him. It's three times the size of a normal ladder.. that will definitely come into play at the PPV. I can't wait!

Punk had a funny line when he said he can't wait to see the Big Show do a 450 off the ladder. Big Show thought Punk meant the 450 splash that Justin Gabriel does, but Punk meant 450 pounds crashing down to the center of the earth.

The segment came to a close when Luke Gallows and "Masked Man" Joey Mercury attacked Big Show. Punk climbed the giant ladder to pose but as SES was saluting Punk.. Big Show took them out. Punk was left helpless on top of the ladder. Big Show climbed up, grabbed him.. and took off his mask.

CM Punk looks like Charlie from Lost when he's bald. I hope this doesn't mean that Punk will be mask-less from now on.

Trent Barreta & Layla w/Caylen Croft vs Chris Masters & Kelly Kelly w/Tiffany

This was a really stupid match but it also served as your typical comedy match of the night. Basically Kelly Kelly smacked Layla around for a bit.. then Rosa Mendes came to ringside skipping on a jump rope. Apparently Rosa wants to join LayCool but they said she was too fat?

The Dude Busters (Barreta and Croft) gets distracted and they each grab one end of the jump rope and Rosa jumps for a bit. Chris Masters takes out the Dude Busters and Kelly Kelly hit the K-2 on Layla to win.

After this, Rosa Mendes jump ropes up the ramp towards the backstage area! I bursted in laughter when this happened.

Winner: Kelly Kelly & Chris Masters via pinfall after the K-2 finisher on Layla.

Matt Hardy vs Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero

I didn't enjoy this match as much as I did earlier with Kofi Kingston and Dashing Cody Rhodes or even Christian and Drew McIntyre. Not much happened in this match, it was back and forth for the most part. The end came when Vickie Guerrero came up to the apron to distract the ref. Matt Hardy almost hit Vickie Guerrero but stopped himself and Dolph hit the Zig Zag to win the match.

The commentary was funny though when Todd Grisham asked, "What was Vickie Guerrero doing on the apron anyway?" Matt Striker just responded, "Maybe she wanted to talk to the official or maybe she just wanted a better view".

Winner: Dolph Zigger by pinfall after the Zig Zag.

Jack Swagger w/Mr. Swagger & Kane segment

Jack Swagger comes out for the final segment in tonight's episode. The graphic says: Jack Swagger w/Mr. Swagger

Guess what Matt Striker says? "Who is this mysterious man with Jack Swagger? Is it his lawyer? His doctor perhaps?" I usually love Matt Striker on commentary but what a dumb comment. One more time...

So the two-time All-American American showed pictures on the Titantron proving his innocence. Pictures of him doing pushups, catching a big fish, and eating in the chicken wing competition. They also finished 1st and 2nd respectively running the 5K.

Kane comes out and doesn't believe them. He attacks Jack Swagger and Mr. Swagger. Jack rolls out of the ring pleading with Kane to let his daddy go. Kane ignores Jack and chokeslams his dad. I'm not quite sure what to make of this because Jack Swagger turned his back on his dad. He was upset, but at the same time didn't do anything about it. As Jack Swagger left the ring, Kane gave his dad a tombstone pile driver to end the show.

    ------------------------------------

So there you have it. It was a pretty fun episode of Smackdown. I'll have my Money in the Bank PPV Predictions coming up sometime tomorrow. I can't wait! I'm really excited about the two ladder matches.

Cool WWE Money in the Bank Predictions

WWE Money in the Bank PPV Predictions

I'm really excited about the MITB PPV mostly because of the two ladder matches. The one match that I don't care about is the Unified Tag Team Title Match.

WWE Unified Tag Team Championship Match: The Hart Dynasty (Unified Tag Team Champions) vs Jimmy and Jey Uso

I'm not quite sure what to expect in this match. I don't see them going more than 10 minutes. The Usos are trying to make a name for themselves in the WWE. They've been on RAW for a few months right? It's definitely too soon to put the titles on them, but at the same time... if they don't have the titles, no one cares about them.

Wait, let me correct myself. Even if they have the titles, no one will care about them. Hopefully this match does not kick off the PPV because it'll kill the crowd before they're settled in.

My Prediction: The Hart Dynasty will retain their titles.

WWE Divas Championship Match: Alicia Fox (Divas Champion) vs Eve

I don't see Alicia Fox losing her Divas title so soon. When Eve used her rematch clause about 2 weeks ago, Alicia Fox faked an injury and won the match. But since Alicia Fox faked the injury, Eve gets another rematch.

This match is a great opportunity for Alicia Fox to show what she is made of. Eve will get some offense in but will come up short. Maybe Eve will miss her moonsault finisher, and Alicia Fox will hit the Scissors kick to win the match.

My Prediction: Alicia Fox retains the Divas Championship.

WWE Women's Championship Match: Layla (Women's Champion) w/Michelle McCool vs Kelly Kelly w/Tiffany

This one is a little more interesting than the Divas match. We have Rosa Mendes trying to join LayCool but they say she's too fat. LayCool meanwhile has been getting the upper hand on "Smelly Kelly" and Tiffany.

Kelly Kelly will win the match if Tiffany can take Michelle McCool out of the picture. I also think Rosa Mendes might lend Kelly Kelly a helping hand by accident as well.

My Prediction: Kelly Kelly wins the Women's Championship.

RAW Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Randy Orton vs John Morrison vs Mark Henry vs Evan Bourne vs Ted DiBiase vs Chris Jericho vs Edge vs The Miz (United States Champion)

This one is going to be fun. The only true high flier in this match is Evan Bourne. I'm expecting him to go Air Bourne off the ladder and onto someone in this match. On paper, Edge comes off as the favorite because he's "won it twice" (and we all know he only won it once as I mentioned in a previous RAW review).

The Miz winning this match would be insane and fitting for his character. He took R-Truth out of the match and he made a statement on Mark Henry (R-Truth's replacement). However... I don't see him winning this.

You know who I'm picking? I'm picking Chris Jericho. Imagine this. After 20 minutes or so of this match.. Nexus runs out and DESTROYS everyone. They'll beat down someone big like Mark Henry. Maybe a lot of people are on a ladder and Nexus pushes the ladder over and there is carnage everywhere.

Then you have Chris Jericho climb the ladder and grab the Money in the Bank briefcase to win the match. He looks at Wade Barrett and smiles.

Sounds great doesn't it? Maybe I'm just dreaming. If Nexus doesn't interfere in this match though, then I can see Edge and maybe Randy Orton winning it. But for my prediction? I'll stick with Chris Jericho.

My Prediction: Chris Jericho thanks to Nexus.

Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Big Show vs Matt Hardy vs Christian vs Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Champion) vs Dashing Cody Rhodes vs Kane vs Drew McIntyre vs Dolph Ziggler

I personally feel that this MITB match has the potential to be more exciting than the RAW MITB match. On Smackdown, Big Show introduced his ladder, you know the one that is 3x the size of a regular ladder. That ladder will definitely come in play. We have more superstars in this match who are probably more willing to take bigger risks. On the RAW side, I can really only think of Evan Bourne. On Smackdown you have Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingston, Christian, and Dolph Ziggler.

As some of you may already know, I'm a pretty big fan of Christian and I would like nothing more than to see him win. Unfortunately, Vince McMahon doesn't like the guy and therefore he won't win. There is no way Big Show or Kane is going to win this match either.

Speaking of Kane, I would not be surprised if Jack Swagger took him out in this match. On Smackdown, Swagger needed an alibi so Kane would leave him alone. Since Kane didn't believe Jack Swagger, you can bet that Kane will be interfering in the World Heavyweight Title match unless Jack Swagger does something about it. So maybe Jack Swagger will take Kane out of the picture here and we don't have to worry about Kane winning the match.

The only person I can see winning the Smackdown Money in the Bank is Drew McIntyre. He doesn't have Vince McMahon in his "back pockets" anymore ever since Vince got taken out by Nexus. I think this is a great opportunity for Drew McIntyre to show that he is indeed the future of this business.

    My Prediction: Drew McIntyre.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Rey Mysterio (World Heavyweight Champion) vs Jack Swagger

This match is hard to predict mainly because I don't know if Kane is interfering in this match or not. If Kane doesn't, I can see Jack Swagger showing his nasty side using his new move... the Ankle Lock to win the match.

I also don't know if Rey Mysterio is fighting injuries in real life or not either. Some reports have said that it was stupid of WWE to let him win the World Heavyweight Title at the Fatal Four Way PPV, but it was the only way to make him happy. I'll stick with my guts and go with Jack Swagger as the two-time All American American become the two-time World Heavyweight Champion Champion.

My Predction: Jack Swagger by Submission to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

WWE Championship Match inside a Steel Cage: Sheamus (WWE Champion) vs John Cena

Nexus is playing a part in this. You know it. I know it. The WWE Universe knows it. The question is... how will they enter the cage? The obvious answer would be that they climb in, but that won't happen. The point of the Steel Cage match is to keep Nexus out so Nexus likely won't do anything until the match is over (when the cage goes up).

I'm going to pick John Cena as the winner in this match only because of what I think will happen later. It's hard to picture Sheamus being Cena cleanly because that never happens. Hopefully Sheamus looks good in his match with Cena, but I think when it's all said and done... Cena will become the WWE Champion again for the 8th time (10th, if you add his 2 World Heavyweight Title reigns).

My Prediction: John Cena is the new WWE Champion because of the STF.

Now comes the fun part. After the cage rises, Nexus is going to jump Cena and Sheamus. They will probably beat down both of these superstars for a good 5+ minutes (depending how much time is left in the PPV). Then we'll hear...

    "BREAK THE WALLS DOWN!"

Chris Jericho, the RAW Money in the Bank winner will cash in his contract and pin John Cena to become the WWE Champion. The PPV will end with Chris Jericho shaking Wade Barrett's hand.

My Prediction: Chris Jericho is the new WWE Champion.

Thumbs up WWE Money in the Bank PPV Review

Money in the Bank PPV Review - 7/18/10
    My Review Score: 9/10

Really solid PPV. My predictions look like crap after what happened tonight. I went 2 out of 7 total... only getting the Unified Tag Team Championship and Divas Championship match correctly. Time to talk about the PPV since it's fresh on my mind.
    ----------------------------------------------------

Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Big Show vs Matt Hardy vs Christian vs Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Champion) vs Dashing Cody Rhodes vs Kane vs Drew McIntyre vs Dolph Ziggler

This match kicked off the PPV and it stole the show! I believe this match went about 35 minutes total.

The match started off pretty funny as everyone went to work on Kane and The Big Show. Everyone except Dashing Cody Rhodes as he went for the ladder and set it up. He even manged to climb the ladder a few steps before Kane and Big Show fought everyone off and the two of them punished Dashing Cody Rhodes.

Big Show spent a lot of time outside the ring, which makes sense because he is too big and clumsy to work the match inside. They had superstars constantly taking him out on his knees and that told the story well. It was good to see the two "veterans" Christian and Matt Hardy teaming up a little before turning on each other. The biggest spot of the night is Kofi Kingston doing the boom drop off the ladder and onto Drew McIntyre, who was laid out on the Spanish announce table.

One thing I noticed in this match is that every time Dolph Ziggler entered the ring, Big Show was always there to punish him. Poor guy!

Big Show eventually pulled out his gigantic ladder and he had trouble lifting it inside the ring! The crowd cheered him on and after a few minutes, he finally did it. Unfortunately, his big ladder became his biggest enemy. Kane managed to push the huge ladder to the side and Big Show fell over the top rope and onto the floor. This spelled the end of Big Show as all the superstars threw ladders on him. They threw about 6 ladders on Big Show and he was done for the match.

Kane then chokeslammed Dolph Ziggler off the apron and onto Big Show and the ladders! Kane then went ringside and chokeslammed Kofi Kingston onto the ladders and Big Show! Kane is tearing it up and it was pretty crazy.

Dashing Cody Rhodes sees the carnage and tries to run for it but Kane chases him up the entrance ramp. Kane throws Dashing Cody Rhodes onto the ambulance that is set up ringside and that was the end for Dashing Cody Rhodes. Kane makes it back to the ring and Matt Hardy and Christian took him out with a double DDT or something.

That allowed both Matt Hardy and Christian to get to the top of the ladder to fight it out. Both of them were extremely close to grabbing the hook and getting the briefcase. They both came crashing down the ladder though after knocking each other out. Then Drew McIntyre finally wakes up from that announce table mishap and climbs the ladder. It really looks like Drew McIntyre was about to win it but Kane gets up in time and chokeslams Drew off the ladder. Kane climbs up the ladder and wins the match!

Final Result: Kane wins the Smackdown Money in the Bank match.

WWE Divas Championship Match: Alicia Fox (Divas Champion) vs Eve

After a really exciting Money in the Bank match... this match killed the crowd. Now don't get me wrong, Alicia Fox and Eve worked a really decent match. I just don't think any match could have followed the MITB match.

The story of this match was Eve getting targeted in her back area. Eventually, she tried a senton flip of some sort off the top ropes but Alicia Fox put up her knees. Alicia Fox then hit her Scissor Kick finisher to retain the Divas Title.

Fianl Result: Alicia Fox retains the Divas Championship via pinfall with the Scissor Kick.

WWE Unified Tag Team Championship Match: The Hart Dynasty (Unified Tag Team Champions) vs Jimmy and Jey Uso

I was expecting this match to be the worst of the night and it wasn't. It was slow, lots of people didn't care too much... but the pace was not all bad. The Usos looked pretty good with some of the moves they were able to execute. David Hart Smith ended up putting the Sharpshooter on one of the Usos (I believe Jimmy) and he tapped.

Final Result: The Hart Dynasty will retain their titles by submission.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Rey Mysterio (World Heavyweight Champion) vs Jack Swagger

Fun match to watch... but it also reminded me how much I hate it when Rey Mysterio is the World Heavyweight Champion. When Rey is the champion, he just makes his opponents look like COMPLETE idiots.

Jack Swagger must have taken at least 20 kicks to the face in this match tonight. I cringed at about half of them.. Swagger was dominant for most of the match. He did hit his Gut-Wrench Powerbomb finisher but Rey had his legs on the ropes.

The end came when Swagger locked the Ankle Lock but Rey got to the ropes. Jack Swagger then managed to hit two of his splashes off the top rope onto Rey Mysterio. Rey loosened his left boot because it was "swelling" so badly. Jack Swagger goes for the Ankle Lock again, but Rey Mysterio pulled a Eddie Guerrero as Swagger just got the boot and not Rey's ankle.

Rey Mysterio then rolls up Jack Swagger to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

Final Result: Rey Mysterio retains the World Heavyweight Championship with a rollup pinfall victory.

After the match, Jack Swagger locks the Ankle Lock on Rey Mysterio in anger. Kane comes out to save the day and chases Swagger away to the backstage area.

    Suddenly...

    BOOM!

Pyro explodes as Kane is making his way to the ring with his MITB briefcase and a referee! He is cashing in his contract!

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Rey Mysterio (World Heavyweight Champion) vs Kane

Rey Mysterio is shocked as he is just getting up. He ducks Kane but Kane attacked his knee. Kane then gave Rey Mysterio a chokeslam and a tombstone piledriver. 1, 2, 3. Kane is your new World Heavyweight Champion.

Final Result: Kane wins the World Heavyweight Championship via pinfall after the Tombstone Piledriver.

WWE Women's Championship Match: Layla (Women's Champion) w/Michelle McCool vs Kelly Kelly w/Tiffany

This was the worst match of the night. Tiffany accompanied Kelly Kelly ringside but did absolutely nothing. What was sad was that Michelle McCool stole the show by being ringside as opposed to the match that was happening in the ring.

Kelly Kelly manage to hit her K-2 legdrop finisher but Layla got her foot on the ropes. Then after some nonsense, Layla just kind of sat on Kelly Kelly after she failed a rollup and won.

I guess the bright side is that Layla is able to win the match on her own. But it makes no sense when Michelle McCool can interefere and Tiffany does nothing.

Final Result: Layla retains the Women's Championship by pinfall.

RAW Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Randy Orton vs John Morrison vs Mark Henry vs Evan Bourne vs Ted DiBiase vs Chris Jericho vs Edge vs The Miz (United States Champion)

This match was pretty darn good... just not as good as the Smackdown one. One thing to note is that Maryse sat ringside after she accompanied Ted DiBiase to the ring. The match started with people going after Mark Henry. Evan Bourne went after him the most, which is kind of stupid.

This match was a little bit slower because John Morrison, The Miz, and Edge were constantly trying to set up the ladders to make it unique. They were really looking for their spots instead of just fighting like the Smackdown guys. I can't think of anything that was too memorable in this match to be honest.

There was one spot when everyone was hurt outside the ring and Maryse went to climb the ladder. John Morrison picked her up and put her down and told her to leave. While he was distracted though, Ted DiBiase tried to climb the ladder.

The match had some big moves, namely Orton giving a lot of people the RKO. There was one really cool spot where Orton RKOed John Morrison and as Orton landed, Evan Bourne immediately hit the Air Bourne on Orton.

The ending came when Evan Bourne was about to grab the briefcase but Jericho smashed the briefcase on Evan's head that sent him crashing down. As Edge and Jericho fight on the ladder, Orton gave Jericho a cool looking RKO. Orton then eventually shoved Edge down onto two ladders set up in the ring which took him out. Orton looked like he was going to win the match and the crowd was cheering for him like crazy until The Miz came out of nowhere and shoved Orton off the ladder.

The Miz climbed the ladder and managed to unhook the briefcase to win the RAW Money in the Bank match! A well deserved victory and long overdue for The Miz. I'm glad they're giving him the push he deserves for sure.

Final Result: The Miz wins the RAW Money in the Bank match.

WWE Championship Match inside a Steel Cage: Sheamus (WWE Champion) vs John Cena

The main event and it was kind of boring. After two MITB Ladder matches, a Cage match looks really weak in comparison. It didn't help the fact that Cena and Sheamus worked a really slow match.

Plus, we all knew Nexus was going to play a part in this.. so we were just waiting for them to come out.

So I'll fast forward to that part since nothing important happened inside the damn cage.

Nexus finally came out after Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment on Sheamus and he kicked out after 2. Michael Tarver was holding the bolt cutters and as he was about to cut the cage door open.. one of the ref takes it from him.

Now remember.. with WWE logic in play.. Nexus does NOTHING ABOUT IT! They just stand there and scream at the ref that took the bolt cutter instead of just taking it back. The ref slowly walks backstage with the bolt cutters.

Then Wade Barrett and Nexus ask the other ref for the key to the cage. After about 2-3 minutes of just standing there and asking, the ref takes out the key and... throws it into the crowd.

What happened to Nexus doing what they want? Seriously?

Meanwhile in the ring, Cena tries to hit another Attitude Adjustment on Sheamus but he fights it off and "accidentally" bumps the ref into the cage, knocking him out. Cena then locks the STF on Sheamus and he taps out.. except there is no ref to see it happen so Cena did not win the match yet.

Cena then tries to climb the cage but Nexus is hell bent on stopping him from doing so. They go to attack Cena at the top of the cage. Justin Gabriel makes it to the top but takes a hard bump onto the ring. Cena is working his way down the cage but Michael Tarver and Darren Young scales the cage to slow him down. On the other side of the cage, Sheamus climbs the cage and Heath Slater tries to stop him but gets kicked off the cage easily. Sheamus lands on the floor the bell rings and Sheamus runs off into the crowd.

Final Result: Sheamus retains the WWE Championship by escaping the cage before Cena.

After Sheamus ran away, so did some Nexus members I guess? The camera didn't show them running away but I'm just going to assume they chased after Sheamus.

Cena makes his way to the floor and is pissed off that Nexus screwed him over again. Darren Young and Michael Tarver happened to be hurt ringside so Cena took his frustrations out on them. Cena grabbed Darren Young and threw him on the cage. Cena gave Tarver a running clothesline and then threw the steel steps at him. Cena goes backstage angry.

The PPV ended with the camera showing Darren Young and Michael Tarver laid out ringside and Justin Gabriel "out cold" in the ring because of the big bump he took.

    ------------------------------------

Overall, it was a really decent PPV. I'm really happy for The Miz and his RAW MITB victory. Kane being the World Heavyweight Champion is great. Since he's on Smackdown, he'll have it more than one day!!!

The Smackdown MITB match really stole the show overall. Next up... Summerslam! Hell yes.
