WWE Wrestlemania XXVII PPV Predictions
The biggest PPV of the year has arrived. Wrestlemania XXVII. I'm pretty excited for this PPV. There are some good matches on the card and there are some not so good matches as well. I have to say, I'm very disappointed they decided not to have a Money in the Bank match here. That should be part of Wrestlemania as well, but I guess they're happy with it as a PPV in July.
I apologize for the lack of reviews. It's been a busy month at work and school. The only free time I got, I didn't write the reviews. Lets hope you guys are caught up since I *know* you're watching with The Rock being back and all right?! http://www.wwe.com/f/match/image/201...27-ustitle.jpg United States Championship Match: Sheamus (United States Champion) vs Daniel Bryan
When Sheamus won the King of the Ring, he got buried. He lost more matches than he won and I wasn't quite sure what the hell they were doing to him. For a 2-time WWE Champion, he fell off the ladder quickly.
Daniel Bryan on the other hand was a great US Champion. The only problem with him being the champion was that the writers had no clue what to do with him. This is extremely frustrating because instead of having Daniel Bryan wrestle 10-15 minute quality matches with guys like Tyson Kidd, Evan Bourne, Zack Ryder, etc... on RAW for exposure, they had Daniel Bryan wrestle on WWE Superstars the majority of the time. (A show that no one watches) If he was lucky enough to show up on RAW, all he was doing was breaking up cat fights between Gail Kim and the Bella Twins.
As Wrestlemania was looming closer and closer, they had Sheamus lose to Daniel Bryan. Sheamus said if he didn't win the US Title the following week, he would quit WWE. Well, Sheamus won the United States Title and now he's back on the win column.
For months, I was worried about these two. Now they have a United States Championship match at Wrestlemania. It's certainly a downgrade for Sheamus as he went from the main event to being in the mid-card, but it's better than nothing.
I don't see the title changing hands at all for this match. I just expect them to give it their all and they'll certainly try to steal the show. My Prediction: Sheamus retains the United States Championship. http://www.wwe.com/f/match/image/201...lawlercole.jpg Michael Cole w/Jack Swagger vs Jerry Lawler. Stone Cold Steve Austin as Special Guest Referee
This one should be fun to watch. For months now, Michael Cole has taken shots at Jerry Lawler (verbally). But for the past few months, Michael Cole has been taking shots (physically) at Jerry as well.
Jerry Lawler wants his Wrestlemania moment. Well, this is it. His first ever Wrestlemania match, so hopefully he enjoys it.
As you all know by now, Michael Cole has been learning to take bumps. I wonder how much "punishment" he'll really take in this match. Jack Swagger will definitely get involved but I'm sure Stone Cold will take care of him easily.
I can see Michael Cole getting a slight upper hand in the match while Austin is distracted by Swagger. However, the outcome will be no surprise. Jerry Lawler will defeat Michael Cole to end this storyline once and for all. Cole isn't a wrestler, and Jerry isn't an active wrestler. But it certainly makes zero sense to have Cole go over Lawler.
I just hope Jim Ross will come out and smash Cole in the face (just for fun). I'm certain that Austin will stun Cole as well for ****s and giggles. My Prediction: Jerry Lawler by pinfall. http://www.wwe.com/f/match/image/201...-reyrhodes.jpg Rey Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes
In my opinion, this is the most overlooked match on the card. This feud is great. It has good story, good buildup, and you have two solid performers as well.
Basically, before the Royal Rumble... these two had a match. Dashing Cody Rhodes was on the top of his game, until Rey Mysterio broke his nose with an exposed knee brace. Yeah, Dashing Cody Rhodes was the one that exposed it, but Rey technically used it as a weapon.
I don't recall if Rey Mysterio even apologized or not. Dashing Cody Rhodes missed the Royal Rumble and he missed the Elimination Chamber as well.
So Cody Rhodes is no longer "Dashing" and he wears a mask as well. The only thing is... he uses his mask as a weapon. Cody Rhodes vows to not only unmask Rey, but he'll destroy Rey's face as well.
I would really like to see Cody Rhodes win here. I don't necessarily think he *needs* to win the match, but it'll certainly help him more in the long run as opposed to Rey Mysterio winning. Hopefully, they let this match go for 15 minutes or so. If they do that, this match will probably steal the show. My Prediction: Cody Rhodes by pinfall. http://www.wwe.com/f/match/image/2011/03/308_0.jpg Eight Man Tag Match: Big Show, Kane, Santino Marella, & Kofi Kingston vs The Corre - Wade Barrett (Intercontinental Champion), Ezekiel Jackson, Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater (WWE Tag Team Champions)
If you have not heard, Vladimir Kozlov is out of this match. Apparently at Wrestlemania Axxess, The Corre attacked him and "injured" him. This really sucks for Kozlov.. getting pushed out of a Mania match at the last minute, but they have to replace him with Kofi Kingston (who doesn't have a match).
If you know me, you'll know that I'm a huge fan of Wade Barrett. I'm really glad he finally have a singles title around his waist, even if it's just the Intercontinental Championship. The Corre is pretty much a better version of Nexus. Everyone is equal with no leadership. They do the same thing as Nexus, which is outnumbering people and attacking them.
The Corre have had the upper hand on Big Show and Kane for weeks now on Smackdown. This match won't be pretty. I don't expect much from this match. The Corre will probably look strong in the beginning but it'll be a finisher fest to finish.
I can see Big Show and Kane BOTH giving double chokeslams here. Santino will hit the Cobra, and Kofi Kingston will hit the Trouble in Paradise. My Prediction: Big Show, Kane, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston by pinfall. http://www.wwe.com/f/match/image/201...27-3on3tag.jpg John Morrison, Trish Stratus & Snooki vs Dolph Ziggler & LayCool w/Vickie Guerrero
I'm not looking forward to this match at all... and I'm a HUGE fan of Trish Stratus. I wonder how many people will actually order this PPV because of Snooki. If WWE gets a ton of buys because of this, then great.
There's not much going on with any of these superstars and divas. Morrison hasn't done anything since the Elimination Chamber PPV. Ziggler has won the World Heavyweight Title on a technicality and have been fired from Smackdown (He's on RAW now).
Dolph and Vickie aren't a couple anymore, but Vickie is still his manager or "business partner" as she calls it.
LayCool was suppose to break up (they teased it for weeks until Michelle injured her leg). Now they have fully made up for this match.
I'm definitely looking forward to something cool between Morrison and Ziggler and even Trish Stratus against Michelle McCool. We all know that Snooki's team is going to win and there is no way she's going to take a bump.
Expect to see Vickie Guerrero on the receiving end of some punishment from Snooki as well. My Prediction: John Morrison, Trish Stratus, and Snooki by pinfall. http://www.wwe.com/f/match/image/201...-ortonpunk.jpg Randy Orton vs CM Punk
Randy Orton has punted each and every one of the New Nexus. Orton took out Husky Harris, Michael McGillicutty, David Otunga, and Mason Ryan so CM Punk has no one in his corner.
The feud started at the Royal Rumble when CM Punk interfered in Orton's title match against The Miz. CM Punk said it was payback for what Orton did back at Unforgiven in September 2008 when he punted Punk before his title match.
Let me just get this off my chest. CM Punk is a terrible leader. He's a great heel but he buries his stable big time. Look what happened to the Straight Edge Society and now look at the New Nexus. I'm so glad Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater joined Wade Barrett on Smackdown.
Anyway, with Orton punting every member of the New Nexus, you would think Punk is the good guy here. Instead, Punk got the upper hand by attacking Orton's leg with a wrench and then giving him the GTS on this past Monday's RAW. All signs lead to Orton is winning at Wrestlemania. My Prediction: Randy Orton by pinfall. http://www.wwe.com/f/match/image/201...anbrodus_0.jpg World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge (World Heavyweight Champion) w/Christian vs Alberto Del Rio w/Brodus Clay
I'm stoked about this match. My new favorite WWE Superstar, Alberto Del Rio against one of my top favorites, Edge. I personally like Christian more than Edge, so I'm disappointed that they didn't insert him in this match to make it a Triple Threat.
Alberto Del Rio said it was his destiny to win the Royal Rumble while Edge was busy terrorizing Kane's daddy. Edge took care of Kane and Paul Bearer and Alberto Del Rio won the Royal Rumble.
Christian came back from injury and he had a "mini-feud" with Alberto Del Rio. Christian even defeated Alberto Del Rio twice on Smackdown. Once in a regular match, and the other in a Steel Cage match. So why isn't Christian on the card?
Edge is a 11 time world champion. I may be wrong but no heel has ever won a World Title at Wrestlemania. A heel has retained a title, but never won it. I think Alberto Del Rio will be the first heel to do it then.
Brodus Clay and Christian will definitely play a part in this match, but should not affect the outcome.
Edge has a new submission move of his own, so if he wins the match, he'll win using that for sure. My Prediction: Alberto Del Rio wins the World Heavyweight Championship by submission. http://www.wwe.com/f/match/image/201...ertakerhhh.jpg No Holds Barred Match: Undertaker vs HHH
This is the main event of Wrestlemania. I don't know if this match will close the PPV though since The Rock is most likely playing a part in the WWE Title match.
A few questions heading into this match... is Undertaker 100%? Is HHH? They have done a tremendous job hyping up this match by words only and had zero physicality. I won't be surprised if either of these guys show some ring rust since they haven't been in the ring for months (especially Undertaker). I'm certain that they haven't worked a house show match before this match either.
But with two veterans here, they are practically the face of the WWE. I'm sure they will both come into this match 100% prepared and ready to go. It'll be a back and forth match for sure. You can bet that these two guys will be kicking out of finisher after finisher. Undertaker will probably eat like 2 Pedigrees but will not stay down. I can see HHH kicking out of a chokeslam, last ride, and even the tombstone piledriver.
Since it's No Holds Barred, I am expecting a weapon to come into play here. Specifically the sledgehammer (HHH's weapon). I believe that it will be the key item to defeat HHH because HHH said he'll break the streak or "die trying". The only way to "die trying" would be to get killed by the sledgehammer.
19-0 coming right up. My Prediction: Undertaker wins by pinfall. http://www.wwe.com/f/match/image/201...27-mizcena.jpg WWE Championship Match: The Miz (WWE Champion) w/Alex Riley vs John Cena
This match has been pretty overlooked in general because the main focus is John Cena and The Rock. The Miz has inserted himself in numerous occasions but I still don't think he is the main focus.
One of my gripes when The Miz was the WWE Champion was that they made him look weak. He barely defeated Jerry Lawler and he had help against Orton.
Thankfully, WWE woke up and smelled the coffee because while John Cena was focused on The Rock, The Miz's ambush attacks made him look extremely strong heading into Wrestlemania.
This past Monday Night on RAW, The Rock was attacked by The Miz and A-Ri and The Miz ate the People's Elbow. John Cena gave The Rock an Attitude Adjustment (which surprised me).
Now we all know The Rock is going to hit the Rock Bottom on John Cena. The question is... when? Will The Rock hit Cena with the Rock Bottom to cost him the WWE Title? Or will The Rock just do it after Cena retains to end the show, teasing a Rock vs Cena in the future?
Also, I'm not exactly sure what The Rock is doing as a "guest host". Will he be in backstage segments as well? I guess we'll have to find out!
As for this match though... it's extremely hard to say. I really think that The Miz need a win over Cena. Especially on the biggest stage of them all. My Prediction: The Miz retains the WWE Championship.
Tell me what you guys think as well! Enjoy the PPV!
