Talking WWE Money in the Bank PPV Review

WWE Money in the Bank PPV Results
    My Review Score: 10/10

I got extremely lazy and never wrote a review for the Money in the Bank PPV. I did have the images cropped and saved from the WWE website weeks ago. I might as well use it really quick.

Overall, the PPV was amazing. It was solid from top to bottom and is easily the best PPV of the year so far.

Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Justin Gabriel vs Sheamus vs Heath Slater vs Cody Rhodes vs Kane vs Sin Cara vs Daniel Bryan vs Wade Barrett

I personally enjoyed this Money in the Bank match compared to the RAW one. This one had better flow and the action was really quick all the way though. Daniel Bryan winning was a total shock and also a huge mark-out moment for sure. Good for D Bryan!

Final Result: Daniel Bryan wins the Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

WWE Divas Championship Match: Kelly Kelly (Divas Champion) vs Brie Bella

Typical short divas match. Forgot how it went but Kelly Kelly retained pretty easily.

Final Result: Kelly Kelly retained the WWE Divas Championship by pinfall.

    Big Show vs Mark Henry

Thankfully this match was short and sweet too. I think it went a little over 5 minutes and that's fine for someone like Mark Henry and Big Show. I think this match was perfectly booked too because Mark Henry looked strong in this match. He even "injured" Big Show's leg after the match.

Final Result: Mark Henry by pinfall.

RAW Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Alberto Del Rio vs R-Truth vs Jack Swagger vs The Miz vs Evan Bourne vs Rey Mysterio vs Alex Riley vs Kofi Kingston

This match was really fun too. I said I liked the Smackdown one better because it was more fast paced. This one was just as good because the spots were better. Like Evan Bourne using Air Bourne off the ladder onto everyone. The Miz took a crazy bump and it looked like he got hurt. Alberto won when he fought off Rey Mysterio at the end. Alberto took off his mask and Rey suddenly became defenseless and Alberto kicked him down because Rey was trying to cover his face.

Final Result: Alberto Del Rio wins the RAW Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Randy Orton (World Heavyweight Champion) vs Christian
If Orton gets DQed or the refs are corrupt in any way, Christian wins the World Title

These two always put on a hell of a match. Great back and forth action but this has been done to death. Christian did all he can to make Orton DQ himself and in the end, it worked. Christian spat in Orton's face and then Orton gave Christian a low-blow. Christian won his 2nd World Title by disqualification.

After the match, we saw a more crazy side of Orton. He went absolutely bananas. I kind of like that in Orton even though he's Super Orton now.

Final Result: Christian wins the World Heavyweight Championship by DQ.

WWE Championship Match: John Cena (WWE Champion) vs CM Punk
If John Cena loses, he's fired

This match was special going in. The Chicago crowd took it to another level and made the 5 star match a 10 star match. The crowd was extremely Pro CM PUNK. I would honestly say that there were maybe 15% of women and children who did their hardest to chant, "Let's Go Cena!".

It was a back and forth match and that's different for a Cena match. Usually Cena would get beat for a good 20-25 minutes before he goes in Super Cena mode and wins in 2 minutes. But in this match, both Cena and Punk traded blows all the way through. You really didn't know who was going to win.

Towards the end of the match, Vince McMahon came to ringside with Johnny Ace when Cena had Punk in the STF. Vince sent Johnny Ace to ring the bell to screw Punk over but Cena released the hold and decked Johnny Ace. Cena told Vince he'll do it his way and went back in the ring and Punk gave him the GTS to win the WWE Championship!

Final Result: CM Punk wins the WWE Championship by pinfall.

The PPV was just really fun to watch. Time for some Summerslam predictions...

    Lightbulb WWE SummerSlam PPV Predictions

    WWE SummerSlam PPV Predictions

After a terrific Money in the Bank PPV, I was wondering how SummerSlam can follow in its footsteps to be just as good. I personally think WWE dropped the ball in only announcing 5 matches for this card. It was originally four, but they added Daniel Bryan vs Wade Barrett last night.

Can anyone honestly tell me why people think they'll order the PPV if there are only 5 matches announced on the card? I mean sure, the WWE Undisputed Championship Match is going to be HUGE, but can that match itself *really* sell the PPV? Especially after they had a great match from Money in the Bank? Boy, that's going to be hard to top.

Thankfully, I already have tickets to SummerSlam since April... so I was already excited. I just wish it was promoted better. But anyway, with only 5 matches announced, he we go.

    Daniel Bryan vs Wade Barrett

One year already huh?! Remember last year's SummerSlam? Wade Barrett and Nexus fought in a 7 on 7 match against Cena's team (which had Daniel Bryan make his return from being fired). I'm STILL sad that Cena buried Nexus so badly that night. Then you look at where Nexus is today... non-existent. =\

So in one year year... let's see what these two gentlemen accomplished:

Daniel Bryan: Former United States Champion and now Smackdown's Money in the Bank winner.
    Wade Barrett: Former Intercontinental Champion

This match here isn't really from a feud. After the Money in the Bank PPV, Wade Barrett said he should have won the match and that Daniel Bryan got lucky.

It should be interesting though... both of these men came from NXT Season 1 and these two are the more "successful" ones out of NXT. The match itself could be fun if given a decent amount of time. I can see Wade Barrett working the power game here and Daniel Bryan countering with high flying moves.

If I had to pick someone who needs the win more, it would be Wade Barrett. But I'm going to stick with Daniel Bryan as the winner here just because he won the Money in the Bank match last month. Gotta keep the momentum going for D Bryan.

Quick note I wanted to throw out: Daniel Bryan already announced that he will cash in his briefcase at Wrestlemania.

My Prediction: Daniel Bryan wins by submission.

WWE Divas Championship Match: Kelly Kelly (Divas Champion) vs Beth Phoenix

Beth Phoenix won the Divas Battle Royal about 2 weeks ago and turned heel. Beth got on the mic and said to Kelly Kelly, "Your days as the cute, little blonde-haired bimbo are over".

Then on Smackdown, Natalya did the same and turned heel. Now Beth Phoenix and Natalya are called the Divas of Doom. There are two ways to go about this match.

#1 - Have Beth Phoenix absolutely destroy Kelly Kelly and win the Divas Title with a statement.
#2 - Kelly Kelly manages to win by a roll-up.

Obviously, choice #1 is the way to go. It makes the most sense, but then again... this is the WWE we're talking about. The Divas division is a joke. I'm sure we would all love to see Beth Phoenix and Natalya go crazy on the division and then have some diva step it up and make a feud out of it. But knowing WWE, they could easily kill any momentum Beth Phoenix has.

I'm going to pick Beth Phoenix to win the title though because I really really want the Divas Division to be treated seriously again.

My Prediction: Beth Phoenix wins the WWE Divas Championship by pinfall with the GlamSlam.

    Sheamus vs Mark Henry

Mark Henry has been looking really good these past few months. He destroyed Big Show in a match, then proceeded to "injure" him with a chair. Mark Henry did the same thing later and "injured" Kane. Then Mark Henry did it again with Vladimir Kozlov.

They booked Mark Henry to be so dangerous that no one wanted to fight him. But then Sheamus decided to turn face and said he'll fight Mark Henry. This past Friday on Smackdown, Mark Henry tried to injure Johnny Curtis (who made his Smackdown debut after winning NXT Season 4). Sheamus saved him though and Henry ran.

As for this match... I really don't see Sheamus losing. Where does Mark Henry go from here though? He's definitely a monster. Perhaps he can control most of this match, but then Sheamus his a surprise Brogue Kick out of nowhere to get the victory.

My Prediction: Sheamus by pinfall with the Brogue Kick.

No Holds Barred World Heavyweight Championship Match: Christian (World Heavyweight Champion) vs Randy Orton

After HHH took over, he decided to make this a No Holds Barred Match. Christian of course, didn't agree with it because Orton has a new insane side to him. So that means that Orton can do whatever he wants in this match.

Storyline wise, Christian said he'll sue the WWE if HHH doesn't change this match because it's a "unsafe work environment". But HHH said that Christian has to fight in this match or else he'll fire him.

I really don't like what they did with Christian and his World Title reign. Christian is now coming off as a whiny guy who runs to his "lawyers" every time there is trouble. Unfortunately, this is the Christian we're getting so I'll make the best of it. 4th PPV in a row where Christian and Orton are fighting for the World Title. This better be the last one. The only way for this to be the last one between the two is if Christian wins.

Going by story, it looks like Christian has no chance in hell against Orton and that's why I like Christian's chances of winning. Also, towards the end of Smackdown this Friday, Christian said "Trust me Orton, I have the best thing going. I'll see you this Sunday."

I'm really intrigued by what Christian meant. Obviously since it's No Holds Barred, he's going to get outside help. The question is... from who? Edge? Jericho? The Miz? R-Truth? There are SO many guys not on the card, it can be anyone.

I think it's probably just Mark Henry though. Sheamus wins so he can feud with Christian. Then Mark Henry can feud with Randy Orton.

Then again, all of this can go down the toilet if Orton just wins yet again.

My Prediction: Christian retains the World Heavyweight Championship by pinfall.

Undisputed WWE Championship Match w/HHH as the Special Guest Referee: John Cena (WWE Champion) vs CM Punk (WWE Champion)

Going into this PPV, I didn't like Punk's chances of winning. CM Punk already won at Money in the Bank, so it only makes sense to have Cena win this one to make it 1-1.

But then HHH threw himself in the match and everyone knows something is going to happen. Who will HHH screw? Both Cena and Punk are against having HHH as the ref. HHH said he'll do what's best for the business. Punk has openly said, "You're going to screw me over aren't you?"

Since Cena will never turn heel, (especially not now because he'll face The Rock at Wrestlemania) all signs would point to HHH screwing Cena over. I can see HHH doing this and then saying that part of the reason he got CM Punk to come back is because it's in his contract clause or whatever. Now this also wouldn't really make sense because then what would be the point of having Cena as a champion too?

Maybe HHH screws both of these guys and then Alberto Del Rio cashes in his Money in the Bank and he'll win the WWE Title! Many things can happen but I just hope this match can live up to the hype. The crowd will definitely be back and forth, you can count on that happening.

My Prediction: CM Punk becomes the Undisputed WWE Champion by pinfall.

See this is why I feel they need to do a PPV every other month. They should have no more than 6 per year. I think it would make for much more entertaining events, but I know they won't make as much money, and it IS a business. But still. They make enough money as it is.

Figures the E would f this angle up too. Del Rio wins after Nash interferes? Did we time warp to 1996? Only good thing about this is that it will put Punk over as a face.

That Daniel Bryan / Barrett match was dreadful. Nearly fell asleep.

Christian / Orton was a blast. Probably Match of the Night. Wasn't even pissed that it ended with the RKO from nowhere.

I knew ADR would cash it in tonight, it was just the perfect time for it. I did not think Kevin Nash would come out of nowhere to give Punk the Jacknife.

Diva match was dumb and I don't understand why they have Kelly retain.

Mark Henry throwing Sheamus through the barrier was pretty cool. Liked how they just roped it off and had security guards sit next to it.

At least Cena did not win. His in-ring execution is getting worse by the match.
