    Love the Rumble, 40 > 30.

Never thought I'd say it, but I'm actually excited to see Triple H come back...

Thanks for that Mysterio note. Didn't realize that. I should have known that WWE would cover Benoit's record as soon as possible. It's a shame Benoit did what he did... because only he and HBK won when they drew #1 spots.

If HHH is making a surprise appearance at the Rumble, he'll likely eliminate King Sheamus for sure. Either that or a double elimination to continue their feud.

Hahaha. With his popularity, I can see him hit the Cobra on about 3 guys before getting tossed.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

I'll post my Smackdown and RAW reviews in a bit... (or maybe just Smackdown at work, depending on how much time I got.) But a quick thought...

Didn't they use to "draw" numbers on RAW (and maybe Smackdown)? I mean, sure... we don't know when they're entering but we at least got to see the wrestler's reaction as to whether or not they drew a good number.

Also... I know they had to announce the Rumble going from 30 Men to 40 to "sell" the PPV. But imagine that they didn't? You know how Alberto Del Rio is talking about winning the Rumble because of destiny? Imagine setting up a match on Smackdown where he wants to enter at #30. He gets that number and is extremely excited, only for Teddy Long to say something like, "Congratulations on earning your #30 spot Alberto. But playa... this year's rumble will have 40 superstars! Holla!" Then you can have Alberto looking pissed that he did not hear the news.

Thumbs up Friday Night Smackdown Review - 01/14/11

Friday Night Smackdown Review - 01/07/11

Alberto Del Rio, R-Truth, Dashing Cody Rhodes, & Rey Mysterio segment

Smackdown started with Alberto Del Rio talking about winning the Rumble because it's his destiny. R-Truth (who should be on RAW, but shows up on Smackdown anyway) shows up and said that Del Rio has to "earn it". Dashing Cody Rhodes then said that he's winning the Rumble because he has experience and that "Dashing" is in. Doesn't really make sense... Rey Mysterio then comes out and said he'll win the Rumble because it's what inside that counts.

The four were going to get it on so Teddy Long made it a Tag Match.

Rey Mysterio & R-Truth vs Alberto Del Rio & Dashing Cody Rhodes

Typical tag match. It was alright, not extremely entertaining. The finish came when Rey Mysterio hit Dashing Cody Rhodes with the 619 and a top rope splash to win.

Final Result: Rey Mysterio & R-Truth by pinfall.

    Trent Barreta vs Drew McIntyre

Trent Barreta looks to be getting a push on Smackdown which is great to see. Again, I hate the commentary from Cole and Mathews because they give him ZERO credit. Why is it that Matt Striker, the heel commentator is the one trying to put the young star over?

McIntyre dominated most of the match but Trent Barreta won with a surprise rollup out of nowhere!

Final Result: Trent Barreta by pinfall.

Backstage after the match, Trent got congratulated by a nobody backstage on the win. He said thanks and then Drew McIntyre ambushed him. Drew kept attacking Trent until Kelly Kelly showed up before storming away pissed. Drew immediately stopped and apologized to Kelly Kelly. He told her that he has aggression problems but that's not who he really is. Kelly Kelly didn't believe him and told him to "grow up".

I'm liking this story with Drew and Kelly. Keep it going WWE!

    Big Show vs Wade Barrett

Wade Barrett all by himself on Smackdown. I'm kind of sad for him especially when his music sounded generic as hell. The match was okay, it was back and forth and Barrett worked on Show's leg most of the match.

The finish came when Big Show was about to deliver a chokeslam to Wade but then Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel stormed the ring and attacked Big Show, giving him the DQ win. I was excited to see this since Slater and Gabriel wouldn't go through with their initiations on RAW.

Final Result: Big Show by DQ.

Ezekiel Jackson then appeared out of nowhere and the crowd cheered thinking he'll help Big Show. He just stood there and didn't move a muscle. Big Show fought back and took down Wade, Heath, and Justin with ease and then Big Zeke attacked Big Show! All four of them beat him down Nexus style (delivering all their finishers, except the Wasteland) and posed over Big Show.

Very cool huh? Like I mentioned before, I couldn't help but notice that Punk kept calling his group the "New Nexus". Looks like Wade is a leader again of his own group. Perhaps the regular Nexus is back? It would make sense considering the regular Nexus had about 3 t-shirts that they don't use anymore and the New Nexus has their own shirt.

Beth Phoenix vs Michelle McCool w/Layla

I forgot what happened in this match... probably nothing. All I remember is that Michelle countered a Glam Slam but Beth still managed to beat Michelle by roll-up or something.

Final Result: Beth Phoenix by pinfall.

Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Champion) vs Jack Swagger

A non-title match but it was fun. I always enjoy bouts between Kofi and Jack. I just wish Swagger would get a win for once. The finish for this match was a little weird...

Kofi Kingston hit the SOS on Swagger and covered him. Swagger kicked out... after the 3 count. I don't know if they screwed up or whatever but either way, Kofi got the win.

Final Result: Kofi Kingston by pinfall.

    The Cutting Edge segment

Edge hosting the Cutting Edge. His guests? Dolph Ziggler and his ex-wife Vickie Guerrero!

This segment was great because of Vickie being involved. How awkward was it? Edge tried making fun of Vickie's weight to which Dolph said, "she lost weight". They showed a clip from Edge and Vickie's wedding and wow, Vickie really did lose a lot of weight. Good for her.

Dolph had a clip of Edge making out with the wedding planner Alicia Fox. Edge then had a clip of Dolph cheating on Vickie too, when he made out with Kaitlyn on NXT.

Dolph got angry and attacked Edge, because what "talk show" doesn't end with a fight?

Edge got the upper hand and got rid of Dolph. Vickie then slapped Edge not once, not twice, but three times while screaming "it was our wedding night!" Edge got crazy and teased a spear for Vickie but Dolph came back and attacked Edge.

The fight spilled to the outside of the ring and Dolph ended the show by giving Edge a Zig Zag right on the steel steps. That was a brutal looking move too. Great stuff.

Yeah TC, they used to have a draw and sometimes wrestlers used to wrestle with their numbers on the line, its too bad they don't do that anymore, it added a lot of drama.

As for the Nexuses, Barrett's group is looking a heck of a lot stronger and I think that's why they added Baby Tista, to Punk's stable hopefully they'll let the groups grow into their own and not have Super Cena destroy both single-handedly.

Too bad Christian is still injured I would have loved to see Christian win the Rumble and feud with Edge all the way to WrestleMania, there is just too much history between those two to not market a WrestleMania match between the two.

He's about ready to comeback, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the Rumble and he'll probably take out ADR for putting him out of action.

If thats the case then that would be the way it would happen but before that Del Rio takes out Mysterio making Del Rio the only one in the ring waiting for the next particapant which will be Christian, thats how I would plan it for his return.

I agree. It adds so much more to the match itself when certain wrestlers know what number they're entering.

It would be nice to see a Nexus vs Corre feud. Man... where was this when Bragging Rights and Survivor Series was around?

Edge vs Christian would be huge with the fans but WWE isn't high on Christian at all. As a big Christian fan, I hate the way Vince McMahon treats him.

That would be pretty cool to see, though I hope Alberto Del Rio have an amazing showing at the Rumble. I heard that Christian is out until Wrestlemania though. Maybe it's to throw us off.

Thumbs up Monday Night RAW Review - 01/17/11

Monday Night RAW Review - 01/17/11

Super late review. If you were looking forward to this, I apologize for slacking!

John Cena, The Miz w/Alex Riley, New Nexus segment

Cena kicked off RAW and came out to a huge pop. Man is he over or what? It's a shame that he doesn't put people over...

So Cena talks about winning the Rumble and then wanting to headline Wrestlemania. The Miz came out and told Cena in case he didn't hear... the Rumble went from 30 superstars to 40. Which means that Cena's chances of winning is ZERO.

CM Punk then came out with the New Nexus. They seem to be calling it "New Nexus" instead of just Nexus so I'll go with that title. Punk agreed with The Miz about how Cena has zero chance of winning because all of the members of the New Nexus is in the Rumble. Punk was going to demonstrate this by having the New Nexus go to the ring and surrounding Cena. Before McGillicutty, Harris, and Otunga could attack... Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov help Cena and they actually fend off the New Nexus. I have to say that I dislike since it just made the New Nexus look weak yet again even though they went through the initiation to make them stronger?

The New Nexus retreated back to Punk but this time Punk was going to join in the fight but the RAW GM stopped them. He announced that in the main event with Punk vs Cena, if the New Nexus interferes, they're out of the Rumble match.

Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov (WWE Tag Team Champions) w/Tamina vs The Usos

Not sure what they're trying to do with The Usos here. WWE seems confused because they want to push them as contenders for the Tag Titles, yet they bury them at the same time. Santino and Kozlov won with ease here.

Final Result: Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov by pinfall.

John Morrison vs Daniel Bryan (United States Champion) w/Bella Twins

Great match between these two gentlemen. Tough choice to pick a winner here when you put two of these guys together. You can't really have Morrison lose because he's suppose to be "above" the US Title. At the same time, Daniel Bryan needs to win to look like a strong champion. The finish came when Morrison kneed Bryan in the face and got the win.

Final Result: John Morrison by pinfall.

After the match, King Sheamus came out and said he'll be in the rumble and that he'll emerge victorious.

There was also a backstage segment where the twins were talking about how "hot" Morrison is. But instead of going for him, they are both going to try to be Daniel Bryan's "first". This story reminded me of Chris Jericho and Christian both trying to "nail" Trish Stratus. Of course when Trish overheard, she got pissed. If Daniel Bryan gets pissed here, then he is stupid.

Randy Orton vs Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero

Dolph Ziggler is on RAW for this match since they want both #1 Contenders to face each other. I personally don't like this because the "loser" will look weak going into their respective title match.

The match was okay. I wasn't sure what to expect. It was definitely interesting to see Ziggler fight someone like Orton. The finish came when Orton kind of surprised Ziggler with an RKO out of nowhere and got the win.

Final Result: Randy Orton by pinfall.

After the match, A-Ri and The Miz ambushed Orton. Jerry Lawler tried to help but got beat down as well.

    Natalya (Divas Champion) vs Maryse

I didn't watch this match because I ran out to get dinner so I can't really comment on it. Reading the result here.. it seems like Natalya squashed Maryse. Ted DiBiase and Maryse apparently argued again since they both can't win. Ted then had an Over-the-top rope challenge for anyone in the back and it turned out to be Mark Henry.

    Final Result: Natalya by pinfall.

Over-the-top rope challnege: Ted DiBiase vs Mark Henry

Nice little match to promote the rumble. I didn't watch this one either.. was still out getting dinner. Apparently King Sheamus, R-Truth, David Hart Smith, Darren Young, Yoshi Tatsu, Zack Ryder, Primo, William Regal and Tyson Kidd all ran in to "fight" but in the end Mark Henry won.

Final Result: Mark Henry wins the "rumble".

    CM Punk vs John Cena

I got home in time to catch this main event. The match was decent. Punk got to showcase some stuff and it was back and forth.

The finish came when both men were down. A mysterious person stormed the ring and stood on the apron for awhile. At first glance, I thought, "holy s*** is that Batista?!" It turns out to be Mason Ryan. I think he's the World Champion in FCW? (Someone needs to confirm for me.) He also missed the cut for this 4th season of NXT right? Either way, this guy looked very intimidating!

CM Punk stood still and allowed Mason Ryan to attack him, which gave CM Punk the victory by DQ.

Final Result: CM Punk by DQ.

After the match, Mason Ryan attacked Cena and threw him outside the ring. With Punk still down from the attack the rest of the New Nexus stormed the ring ready to defend their leader. Punk stopped them and then Mason Ryan got down on one knee with his arm out. CM Punk took a Nexus armband from his leg and put it on Ryan's arm.

A great addition to the New Nexus. I hate to admit it but Otunga, Harris, and McGillicutty does nothing for me until WWE lets them win a few matches. Adding Mason Ryan to the group at least makes them look meaner.

It's interesting to see that the rest of the New Nexus didn't know that Mason Ryan was going to join though.
