Cool Friday Night Smackdown Review - 01/21/11

Friday Night Smackdown Review - 01/21/11

Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Ezekiel Jackson and Teddy Long segment

Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, & Ezekiel Jackson came out to Wade's music to start Smackdown. Wade's music has lyrics this time and it sounds pretty cool. Much better than his generic music last week. They introduced themselves... which I didn't like because people should know who they are by now! Introducing yourself at this point makes you look like a nobody. =\

Wade Barrett called the group, The Corre. Yes, that's the spelling. Two r's and not one. Wade said that he learned from his past mistakes when he was the leader of Nexus. Wade says that The Corre has no leader and that everyone in the group is just as important. I liked how Justin Gabriel described his finisher as the "sternum crushing" 450 splash. Heath Slater showed some personality by calling himself the "one-man rock band".

Anyway, Wade announced that all members of The Corre are in the Rumble. Teddy Long came out and told The Corre that this is Smackdown and not RAW. He said he's not the RAW GM and that he won't tolerate the destruction that Nexus did on RAW. Wade Barrett then said that Teddy is rude and that The Corre is different. Wade said The Corre will help Smackdown by representing them well in the Rumble. The Corre will also take Smackdown to "new places".

Alberto Del Rio then came out and told The Corre that Smackdown is his show and that it's his destiny to win the Royal Rumble. The Corre laughed at that statement but left the ring peacefully and allowed Alberto Del Rio to take the ring for his match.

    R-Truth vs Alberto Del Rio

R-Truth is on Smackdown for no reason yet again.

This is pretty much the same match we've seen for 2-3 weeks now. Alberto Del Rio works on R-Truth's arm and eventually gets him to tap out to the cross armbreaker submission.

What made this match interesting was the fact that they kept cutting to a backstage segment involving Teddy Long. Well, apparently Teddy Long got attacked backstage and is unconscious. Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero was standing over Teddy screaming for help. What was especially interesting is that Michael Tarver of all people was right there asking for help!

So they kept cutting back and forth between the match and Teddy. A doctor or someone "texted" Michael Cole and told him that Teddy suffered severe trauma to the back of the head. After these segments, Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler went to Teddy's office and they see The Corre standing there smiling. They immediately denied attacking Teddy and offered to help Vickie. Since Vickie is now in charge of Smackdown she booked a match between Edge against any member of The Corre for the main event.

Final Result: Alberto Del Rio by submission.

Beth Phoenix vs Layla w/Michelle McCool

Useless info here but I have to point out that Michelle wore a really nice looking dress to the ring. Michael Cole spaced out at one point and didn't respond to Josh Mathews because he was staring at Michelle.

As for the match, Beth Phoenix pretty much dominated Layla and "swept" LayCool or so they said. Beth won with the Glam Slam.

Final Result: Beth Phoenix by pinfall.

Rey Mysterio vs Dashing Cody Rhodes

Random match thrown together here... which is fine I guess. Both of these guys will be in the Rumble. The match wasn't that long. Cody got in a little bit of offense but it was mostly Mysterio.

Rey eventually hit the 619 and it hit Cody in the face pretty hard. Cody immediately grabbed his nose and laid there on the mat for Rey Mysterio to hit the top rope splash and pinfall.

Final Result: Rey Mysterio by pinfall.

I'm not sure if the broken nose is a work or not. They had a doctor check on Cody's face in the ring and there was a backstage segment where the doctor told Cody his nose is indeed broken.

Non-title Amateur Wrestling Challenge: Jack Swagger vs Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Champion)

During the Smackdown tapings, they did a segment for the crowd in Oklahoma that involved Jim Ross. Basically they had Swagger insult JR or something to get the crowd to boo him for TV. Apparently WWE was afraid that Jack's hometown crowd would cheer for him and boo the IC Champ Kofi. Talk about no confidence in Kofi Kingston's charisma.

The Amateur Wrestling Challenge was retarded. Then again, I'm not a fan of Amateur wrestling so I don't quite understand it. Basically, Swagger dominated Kofi Kingston but Kofi got a bunch of points for "getting up" and Kofi eventually took down Swagger towards the end. Swagger won with the final score of 10-9 so he got pissed about winning by such a small margin.

    Final Result: Jack Swagger wins.

Kofi Kingston then becomes a sore loser and attacks Jack Swagger and hits him with the Trouble in Paradise. Isn't that unusual for a face to behave?

What was hilarious was that Kofi Kingston was celebrating this attack and Josh Mathews said something like, "The fans are loving Kofi Kingston and what he did to Jack Swagger!". Michael Cole then said, "What the hell are you talking about? Kofi lost the match!" Matt Striker just sat there and laughed. It was pretty funny to see these guys go back and forth so much.

    Drew McIntyre vs Trent Barreta

Wow. Trent Barreta is appearing weekly on Smackdown. I like this a lot. Cole still gives Barreta zero credit here because he keeps saying Drew will kill him. Cole was right though, because Drew killed him.

McIntyre won with a nice top rope superplex. It wasn't any normal superplex, this one was done with force and it made Drew McIntyre look strong.

Final Result: Drew McIntyre by pinfall.

After the match, Drew continued his assault on Trent until Kelly Kelly made the save. She too, wore a very nice looking dress.

Kelly Kelly went to check on Trent Barreta and told Drew to stop bothering her. She told Drew to leave and he eventually did since he likes her.

Again, I really like where they're going with this story. It's giving Drew, Kelly, AND Trent something to do. All the while making Drew look strong and Trent looks like a up-and-comer with potential. If I had a decision in this story, I would have Kelly Kelly manage Trent Barreta for awhile. Then you can have Trent defeat people like JTG, Curt Hawkins, Chris Masters, Chavo Guerrero (unfortunately), Tyler Reks, and maybe even Kane to make him look good. Then you can have Kelly Kelly turn heel or something and go with Drew McIntyre which will propel him into the title picture. Just a thought.

The Miz, Alex Riley, & Edge segment

The Miz and A-Ri came out for no reason. The Miz showed a clip on the beatdown of Randy Orton on RAW. Edge then came out and said he's sick and tired of having RAW superstars on Smackdown. So true though because this brand extension is useless if they don't follow the rules.

The Miz and Edge will face each other in a Champion vs Champion match on RAW. Edge told The Miz to get out of his ring and The Miz did just that. Alex Riley took his time leaving and went to attack Edge but got Speared.

Edge (World Heavyweight Champion) vs Justin Gabriel

Edge was already in the ring when The Corre came out. All four of them entered the ring and then they decided that Gabriel will fight Edge.

This was a good match and I love what Justin Gabriel brings to the table. It's refreshing to see him face Edge and not John Cena. Oh yeah, Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero were ringside for commentary.

The end came when Edge looked like he had the upper hand. Wade Barrett distracted the ref and Ezekiel Jackson gave Edge a huge clothesline. Justin Gabriel covered Edge and got the pinfall victory.

Final Result: Justin Gabriel by pinfall.

After the match, The Corre attacked Edge. Heath Slater used his finisher. Wade Barrett picked up Edge and gave him the Wasteland. Justin Gabriel finished it with the "sternum crushing" 450 splash.

The Corre left the ring and Dolph Ziggler came in. He stepped on Edge and posed to end the show.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Very decent episode of Smackdown. Only 1 more week left until the Rumble. Can't wait!

Only 3 matches are announced still... they're going to have to add some matches to the card!

    40 Man Royal Rumble
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge (C) vs Dolph Ziggler
WWE Championship Match: The Miz (C) vs Randy Orton

Here are the list of the participants so far:

    1 - Alberto Del Rio
    2 - Dashing Cody Rhodes
    3 - R-Truth
    4 - Rey Mysterio
    5 - John Cena
    6 - CM Punk
    7 - David Otunga
    8 - Husky Harris
    9 - Michael McGillicutty
    10 - King Sheamus
    11 - Daniel Bryan
    12 - John Morrison
    13 - Ted DiBiase
    14 - Mark Henry
    15 - Darren Young
    16 - David Hart Smith
    17 - Primo
    18 - Tyson Kidd
    19 - William Regal
    20 - Yoshi Tatsu
    21 - Zack Ryder
    22 - Wade Barrett
    23 - Heath Slater
    24 - Justin Gabriel
    25 - Ezekiel Jackson

    18 RAW
    7 Smackdown

Talk about lopsided... they used to do 15 RAW/15 Smackdown or 10 RAW/10 Smackdown/10 ECW. However, they have not announced if it'll be 20 RAW and 20 Smackdown either.. so expect more RAW superstars in the Rumble.

Smile Monday Night RAW Review - 01/24/11

Monday Night RAW Review - 01/24/11

I watched RAW after I got home from the Kings/Bruins because Dexter told me The Corre was on RAW and man... was it a good show or what? It was Smackdown heavy, which probably explains why RAW was fun to watch from beginning to end.

Edge & RAW GM Segment + Over the top rope challenge

Edge came out at the top of the show all bandaged up (selling the attack from The Corre on Smackdown). He said he hates to wait and wanted The Miz right now. The RAW GM chimed in and Michael Cole was enjoying this. If you remember, Edge attacked the laptop because it was stupid and it still is.

The GM said he has the Edge vs Miz match booked for later. But since Edge was itching to go, the RAW GM made an impromptu Over the top rope challenge where the winner gets the #40 spot in the Rumble!

Out comes the All-American American Jack Swagger, Drew McIntyre, and Tyson Kidd. Immediately I thought, there is no way they're going to win because none of these three are "deserving" of the #40 spot. (Although I personally feel that Jack Swagger does.)

Sure enough, I was right. Swagger got speared right off the bat. Tyson Kidd got thrown over immediately. What the hell happened to his push and his bodyguard Jackson Andrews? Drew McIntyre almost eliminated Edge but Swagger made the save only to get thrown out immediately. Then McIntyre got tossed as well.

Final Result: Edge wins the Over the top rope challenge.

After the match, Edge was about to destroy the computer again and it looked like Michael Cole was about to defend it too but then the music of the New Nexus hits and out they come. This was a pretty sweet transition and it flowed really well.

New Nexus & The Corre segment

CM Punk introduced Mason Ryan to the audience. Mason had one word as to why he joined the New Nexus and that was "faith". To be honest, this feels like the Straight Edge Society all over again because Punk is only out for himself. He has "brainwashed" the New Nexus into thinking that Punk will help them as soon as he succeeds himself.

Punk made it sound like at the Rumble, the New Nexus will help Punk win and they'll even eliminate themselves if they have to, as long as Punk wins.

Wade Barrett's music hits and The Corre comes out. CM Punk called him a "poor man's version of Nexus"... which is kind of true. :x

Wade pretty much tells people what we already know (pretty much for the people who don't watch Smackdown). He says that he learned from his past mistakes and that The Corre has no leader. They're all equal individuals. Ezekiel Jackson said that they'll fight for each other in the Rumble but when it comes down to it, it'll be every man for themselves.

I wanted some interaction between Otunga, McGillicuty, Harris, Barrett, Slater, and Gabriel though.. but got none. Slater and Gabriel never really explained why they didn't stick with the New Nexus and why they decided to join The Corre.

Anyway, it looked as if The Corre was going to throw down with the New Nexus but the RAW GM stopped them. The GM scheduled a huge main event match. Wade Barrett vs CM Punk. Whoever loses will have their whole stable out of the Rumble. John Cena is the guest ref too!

As this was announced, it's obvious that they'll find a way around this considering they don't really have 40 superstars in the locker room to participate in the Rumble if either stable is out...

King Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio vs John Morrison & Mark Henry

Alberto Del Rio seems to be working full time lately since he's on RAW and Smackdown every week. The match itself was okay. A standard tag match.. not much to mention.

The finish came when King Sheamus and John Morrison fought to the outside. Alberto Del Rio used his cross armbreaker submission on Mark Henry and he tapped out immediately.

I did get a kick out of Ricardo Rodriguez announcing King Sheamus's name in Spanish.

Final Result: Alberto Del Rio & King Sheamus by submission.

Divas Championship Match: Natalya (Divas Champion) vs Melina

Standard Divas match that went a little over 4-5 minutes. Natalya won with a sick looking sharpshooter that really bent Melina in half.

Final Result: Natalya retains the Divas Championship by submission.

After the match, LayCool's music hits and out comes Michelle McCool and Layla. (See what I mean? Smackdown heavy on this show.) LayCool made a good point about how they never got their rematch for the Divas Title so the match will happen at the Rumble.

I checked WWE.com and apparently it'll be the same match as last time when Natalya won the Divas title. It'll be a 2 on 1 Handicapped match.

In a way, this sucks for Melina. She turned heel, and they didn't do anything with it. She loses without putting much of a fight.. just like Alicia Fox.

Edge (World Heavyweight Champion) vs The Miz (WWE Champion) w/Alex Riley

Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero was out for commentary again (just like on Smackdown). I want to point out that Dolph mentions on commentary that he wants Edge at 100% when he wins the title at the Rumble. It's too bad Edge isn't because of The Corre. Typical heel comment which cracks me up because of how serious he sounds.

The match was okay. Both men got in their fair share of offense and Edge even took out A-Ri during the match. The finish came when Edge was about to spear The Miz. But for some reason, Edge kept glancing over at Dolph instead of doing the spear. That was Dolph's cue to attack Edge, therefore giving Edge the win by DQ.

Final Result: Edge wins by DQ.

Dolph Ziggler gave Edge the Zig Zag after the match. Randy Orton runs in to attack The Miz but A-Ri and Dolph Ziggler defends him. I'm not really sure why Dolph is helping The Miz but I guess it's because he's a heel.

Randy ends up giving A-Ri and Dolph Ziggler RKOs. They later announced a tag match for Smackdown. The Miz and Dolph Ziggler vs Edge and Randy Orton.

Ted DiBiase, Maryse, & Alicia Fox vs Daniel Bryan & The Bella Twins

This match lasted about... 2 minutes. Daniel Bryan and Ted DiBiase started the match and got in a few moves. Maryse tagged herself in so Daniel Bryan tagged Nikki in. Nikki got in a few moves on Maryse but suddenly Brie was trying to kiss Daniel on the apron. Nikki gets distracted by this and Maryse rolls her up for the win.

Final Result: Maryse, Alicia Fox, & Ted DiBiase by pinfall.

After the match, Nikki got in Brie's face asking her what the hell she think she's doing. Daniel Bryan separates them and they all walk to the back confused.

There was a backstage segment later where Brie and Nikki are still pissed about what happened. Nikki said that maybe Daniel Bryan will console her since she lost. Brie disagrees. (Oh yeah, Michael Tarver was in the background yet again!)

The Bellas open the door to Daniel Bryan's locker room and they see him making out with.. GAIL KIM! This surprised me! A Gail Kim sighting!

The claws really came out for this one and the truth kind of hurts. The Bellas were pissed because they thought Daniel Bryan was a .... "you know what" and they were trying to be his first. Daniel told them that he's been dating Gail Kim for like 6 months (which doesn't make sense since that would be before Summerslam and he was fired)

Anyway, Gail Kim then said the only reason Daniel Bryan stuck with the Bellas was because he felt sorry for them since they have nothing to do with no more Guest Hosts. The Bellas then said something like, "When was the last time you were on TV?" Who wrote this stuff? The truth hurts!

The Divas fought and the refs came in the locker room out of nowhere to separate them.

Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov (WWE Tag Team Champions) w/ Tamina vs The New Nexus (Michael McGillicutty & Husky Harris) w/Mason Ryan & David Otunga

Non-title match here. Remember my complaint about making #1 Contenders based on a pinfall victory over the champs and how it makes the champs look weak going into a title defense? Well, they did it again! First with The Usos and now Harris & McGillicutty.

McGillicutty and Kozlov started this match first. Kozlov took control early but tagged out to Santino. McGillicutty and Harris then controlled the match and pretty much destroyed Santino. Harris worked him over really well and Kozlov never got the hot tag. That's a bit rare for a tag match but they were pressed for time.

I have no idea if that was Husky Harris's finishing move or not but it was effective. (It wasn't the diving splash that he did on NXT.)

Final Result: Husky Harris & Michael McGillicutty by pinfall.

After the match, David Otunga introduced CM Punk for the main event.

CM Punk w/New Nexus vs Wade Barrett w/The Corre. John Cena is the Special Guest Referee

This "match" was stupid. Cena completely abused his power as the ref here. He threw out The New Nexus and The Corre before the match. Michael Cole pointed out that they didn't do anything to warrant getting ejected.

Cena shoved Punk for no reason and when Punk got up he was pissed. Cena immediately pointed to the WWE Logo on his ref shirt saying if he got hit, he can disqualify Punk. Then Cena turned to Barrett and slapped him. Again, he pointed to his shirt.

As Barrett got distracted from getting slapped, Punk attacked him but Barrett quickly countered. Just as Wade went for a pinfall, Cena runs outside to "sign autographs" for the fans.

Then Barrett got the upper hand again and the two fought for like 30 seconds before Cena called for the bell. John Cena told Justin Roberts that it's a double disqualification because Punk and Barrett used too much profanity and it's a PG show. Cena also said that since it's a double DQ, both the New Nexus and The Corre is out of the Rumble.

    Final Result: Double Disqualification.

As Cena "celebrated" his abuse of power the RAW GM chimed in once more. The RAW GM did mention that he abused his power and therefore took away the stipulation so The Corre and The New Nexus are all in the Rumble again. The GM also said that Cena has to apologize to Wade Barrett and CM Punk or he'll be out of the Rumble.

Cena hesitated but went in the ring to apologize. He said sorry to Punk and Barrett and then attacked them. The New Nexus and The Corre storm the ring to protect their members. Big Show's music hit and out he comes with the rest of the RAW Roster and they have their typical Rumble "match" to hype the PPV as RAW went off the air.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Entertaining show overall. Having Smackdown show up pretty much helped it and they promoted the PPV well. I can't wait for the Royal Rumble but we have Smackdown first. Until next time!

Christian is just getting heat for his run in TNA, but how can you blame the guy for going to TNA when the company was behind him all the way and gave him the push that they did to get that huge win over Jarret for the NWA Heaveyweight title. If the WWE was going to give Christian a similiar push Christian would not have left.

Just another example of wrestlers being used wrong and thus being frustrated and leaving the company.

    Cool

Since it's the start of the New Year... I've decided to try something new to go along with the reviews of RAW, Smackdown, and PPVs. I'm going to list the win/loss records for each superstar for RAW, Smackdown, PPVs, and WWE Superstars.

Not sure if I'll keep doing this since it's useless but I wanted to see what you guys think. I'm going to separate the standings from WWE Superstars with RAW & Smackdown because lets face it... the wins/losses on Superstars is meaningless since it's usually mid-card & jobbers who fight on that show. =\

    (As of 1/26/11)

    WWE RAW & Smackdown Standings

    Superstars

    Alberto Del Rio 5-1
    Alex Riley 0-1
    Big Show 1-1
    CM Punk 1-1
    Cody Rhodes 0-3
    Daniel Bryan 1-2
    Darren Young 0-1
    David Hart Smith 0-1
    Dolph Ziggler 1-3
    Drew McIntyre 1-3
    Edge 3-1
    Husky Harris 1-0
    Jack Swagger 1-2
    Jerry "The King" Lawler 1-0
    Jey Uso 1-1
    Jimmy Uso 1-1
    John Cena 0-1
    John Morrison 2-2
    Justin Gabriel 1-0
    Kane 0-1
    Kofi Kingston 3-1
    Mark Henry 2-1
    Michael McGillicutty 1-0
    Primo 0-1
    Randy Orton 3-0
    Rey Mysterio 2-1
    R-Truth 1-4
    Santino Marella 1-2
    Sheamus 1-3
    Ted DiBiase 1-2
    The Miz 1-2
    Trent Barreta 1-1
    Tyson Kidd 0-3
    Vladimir Kozlov 1-2
    Wade Barrett 0-3
    William Regal 0-1
    Yoshi Tatsu 0-1
    Zack Ryder 0-1

    Divas

    Alicia Fox 1-1
    Beth Phoenix 2-0
    Brie Bella 1-1
    Eve 1-0
    Layla 0-1
    Maryse 1-2
    Melina 0-2
    Michelle McCool 0-1
    Natalya 3-0
    Nikki Bella 0-1

    WWE Superstars Standings

    Superstars

    Chavo Guerrero 0-2
    Chris Masters 3-0
    Curt Hawkins 0-3
    Daniel Bryan 0-1
    Darren Young 1-1
    David Hart Smith 1-1
    Jey Uso 0-1
    Jimmy Uso 0-1
    JTG 2-1
    Mark Henry 0-1
    Primo 2-0
    Ted DiBiase 1-0
    Tyler Reks 1-0
    Tyson Kidd 1-1
    William Regal 0-1
    Yoshi Tatsu 3-0
    Zack Ryder 1-2

    Divas

    Alicia Fox 0-1
    Gail Kim 1-0

    ---------------------------------------------------

So you can see why I separated Superstars with RAW/Smackdown. Yoshi Tatsu and Chris Masters are both 3-0 on Superstars..

Alberto Del Rio is a strong 5-1 on RAW & Smackdown. They're really pushing him. He's definitely one of the favorites to win the Rumble.

I thought it was a solid RAW but I really hated how they killed the Bryan/Bella Twins angle, he's been dating Kim for 6 months and they never knew? really? please.

Second the Main Event was awful I thought it brought down the show, it was a Cena ego stroke and nothing else, this Cena is coming off like a real douchebag like he's the bees knees, it doesn't even come off as heelish he comes off as a grade A dick.

I like the record keeping thing TooCool, do you also take into account draws, no contest and double DQ's too?

on a side note is anybody going to WrestleReunion 5 this weekend, I'm stoked to go see ROH with Shelton Benjamin and Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Piper and a couple of the other old timers

Off Topic but the Ring of Honor show was awesome, Benjamin and Haas were men among boys, Davy Richards is my new wrestling crush and I got his autograph, he reminds me a lot of a young Benoit, he's got a crap load of talent but is overlooked because of his height and Punk's buddy Colt Cabana is freaking hilarious and is quite the talent, the WWE really dropped the ball with him

was right next to Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart in the restroom, stood next to Rhaka Khan she is freaking tall and gorgeous, met Christopher Daniels great guy, DDP was there but was in a hurry and Shane Helms came off as super arrogant but his blonde chick was smoking hot, literally ran into ODB she had just got in and looked tired so I left her alone and there was supposedly an Edge sighting but the guy ducked backstage quickly so I missed him.

this show was pure wrestling and reminded me of why I fell in love with wrestling in the first place, WWE and TNA have really lost their way. Tomorrow the show is even bigger Low ki vs Davey, Jake the Snake Roberts, Roddy Piper and other legends, its going to be Awesome!!!

I agree. That's not quite believable. Now the only place they can go from here is to either have Gail Kim manage Daniel Bryan (and vice versa) or have Gail Kim feud with the Bellas... which is going to be dumb since Divas matches don't last for more than 3 minutes.

PG humor I suppose. I'm not a fan of Cena anyway and he continues to give me many reasons to hate him.

Hmm.. great question. I gave CM Punk and Wade Barrett losses because of the double DQ on RAW. Might as well keep it simple. If it's no contests, I'll probably keep it off the record, and for draws, I'll add a tie bracket to their record just like hockey I suppose.

was right next to Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart in the restroom, stood next to Rhaka Khan she is freaking tall and gorgeous, met Christopher Daniels great guy, DDP was there but was in a hurry and Shane Helms came off as super arrogant but his blonde chick was smoking hot, literally ran into ODB she had just got in and looked tired so I left her alone and there was supposedly an Edge sighting but the guy ducked backstage quickly so I missed him.

this show was pure wrestling and reminded me of why I fell in love with wrestling in the first place, WWE and TNA have really lost their way. Tomorrow the show is even bigger Low ki vs Davey, Jake the Snake Roberts, Roddy Piper and other legends, its going to be Awesome!!!
Thanks for the notes! Edge was definitely there (according to reports). I have to ask, how long were the wrestlers given to do their matches? Do these kind of shows have story/feuds or do they just wrestle and put on a damn good show?

If you are taking pictures, I would love to see them!

thanks for reading the wrestlers were all given a lot of time, if I had to guess I'd say the shortest match was 15 minutes. The show did touch on some of the feuds?story that are going on right now but it was more about the wrestling and putting on a damn good show.

I did take some pictures but they came out terrible I was directly across the brightest flood lights so that sucked but I took some video clips that came out decent, I'll post them on youtube and I'll get the okay from my friend to post his picture with Christopher Daniels.

WGTT were awesome and the banter between the two on twitter is pretty amusing for example.

@TheJackieHaas and I, are headed ti LA. WGTT vs. KOW II tonight. Hope @Sheltyb803 made his flight. ROH ROH

@CharlieHaas I made my flight just fine. Now if you can get a descent rental car this weekend will be a chart topper for yours truly

@Sheltyb803 I got the best compact car money can rent. Great deal, $12 a day. Did you think we were making NFL money when we were Vince.

@CharlieHaas What do you mean we?lol

Not sure if I'll keep doing this since it's useless but I wanted to see what you guys think. I'm going to separate the standings from WWE Superstars with RAW & Smackdown because lets face it... the wins/losses on Superstars is meaningless since it's usually mid-card & jobbers who fight on that show. =\

    (As of 1/26/11)

    WWE RAW & Smackdown Standings

    Superstars

    Alberto Del Rio 5-1

    Husky Harris 1-0
    Jack Swagger 1-2
    Jerry "The King" Lawler 1-0
    Jey Uso 1-1
    Jimmy Uso 1-1
    John Cena 0-1

    Nikki Bella 0-1

    WWE Superstars Standings

    Superstars

    Chavo Guerrero 0-2
    Chris Masters 3-0
    Curt Hawkins 0-3
    Daniel Bryan 0-1
    Darren Young 1-1
    David Hart Smith 1-1
    Jey Uso 0-1
    Jimmy Uso 0-1
    JTG 2-1

    Primo 2-0
    Ted DiBiase 1-0
    Tyler Reks 1-0
    Tyson Kidd 1-1
    William Regal 0-1
    Yoshi Tatsu 3-0
    Zack Ryder 1-2

    Divas

    Alicia Fox 0-1
    Gail Kim 1-0

    ---------------------------------------------------

So you can see why I separated Superstars with RAW/Smackdown. Yoshi Tatsu and Chris Masters are both 3-0 on Superstars..

Alberto Del Rio is a strong 5-1 on RAW & Smackdown. They're really pushing him. He's definitely one of the favorites to win the Rumble.

I think its a good idea because we can figure out who is getting the push from the company, we'll have a pretty good idea as long as we watch the shows as well.

Thumbs up Friday Night Smackdown Review - 01/28/11

Friday Night Smackdown Review - 01/28/11

Solid episode of Smackdown last night going into the Royal Rumble. Not much story "progressed", but there is a new stipulation for the Edge vs Dolph Ziggler match at the Rumble.

Vickie Guerrero, Randy Orton, and Dolph Ziggler segment

Since Teddy Long is in the hospital because of an unknown attacker, Vickie Guerrero is now the acting GM of Smackdown. She wished Teddy a speedy recovery. Randy Orton came out and interrupted her. More cross brand fun. The excuse is that they're "invited" to the show.

Orton said he doesn't know Vickie very well, so she will have to excuse him. Dolph Ziggler came out to defend Vickie Guerrero. They jabbered back and forth a bit, nothing really important came out of it. The segment ended when Orton just RKOed Ziggler out of nowhere.

LayCool vs Kelly Kelly & Kaitlyn

LayCool came out first only to be ambushed from behind by Kelly Kelly and Kaitlyn. I'm glad that Kaitlyn finally has a match on Smackdown! The NXT Season 3 winner had only appeared once during the New Years Eve Backstage Party but that was about it...

Kelly Kelly and Kaitlyn really took it to LayCool outside the ring. When they got in the ring, the bell sounded. This match was only 3 minutes long but Kaitlyn did a pretty good job on Layla before she tagged out. Michelle McCool got beat a little bit. Layla provided some distraction and Michelle hit Kaitlyn with a stiff boot to the face. Michelle quickly pinned Kaitlyn and Kelly Kelly never tagged in.

    Final Result: LayCool by pinfall.

Drew McIntyre vs JTG. Kelly Kelly at ringside.

Kelly Kelly stayed at ringside to watch this match. Michael Cole made a great point about not understanding Kelly Kelly. He mentioned that she got mad at Drew McIntyre for being so aggressive and vicious on Trent Barreta yet she just did the same thing to LayCool.

I thought it was funny how Kelly Kelly heard Cole considering how loud the entrance music of Drew McIntyre's was and she didn't have the headset on.

This match was... surprisingly long. In a good way I suppose. JTG got in his share of offense. Unfortunately, his gimmick is getting him nowhere.

JTG kept going for the backslide pin in this match, so towards the end.. instead of kicking out, Drew found a way to reverse the backslide pin into the Future Shock DDT.

Final Result: Drew McIntyre by pinfall.

After the match, Kelly Kelly got in the ring and Drew McIntyre didn't look in her direction and left the ring and immediately went backstage. Funny how "relationships" work huh? Drew wanted Kelly, she didn't want him. Now apparently she wants him but he doesn't want her.

Alberto Del Rio's Royal Rumble Exhibition

Before Alberto came to the ring, he introduced himself to Michael Tarver backstage. In the ring, Alberto introduced himself to the crowd... but they already knew that.

Alberto Del Rio said for weeks, he has said it's his destiny to win the Rumble. Tonight, he'll show it. He has invited 39 competitors from "all over the world" to participate in his Rumble Exhibition. He said every 30 seconds, someone will come out and he'll eliminate them all.

With that said... out came Seth Allen. The commentary was GOLD here and it had me ing like crazy.

    Michael Cole: Alright! Seth Allen!
Matt Striker: Seth Allen is a former Western States Heritage Champion in Ohio.
Michael Cole: How do you know this stuff?!

Alberto quickly got rid of him and out next was Mike Stevens.

Michael Cole: Hey, Mike Stevens. World renowned.
Matt Striker: Mike Stevens, a brass knuckles champion.
Michael Cole: Oh come on Matt! You are a goof. What's his name again?
Josh Mathews: Mike Stevens. A brass knuckles...
    Matt Striker: Champion.

You seriously can't write that stuff.

Alberto Del Rio made short work of him too and the next entrant was... Kane! The crowd popped for him so I assume he's a face again? Then again, Edge was pretty much doing all the heel tactics in his feud with Kane.

Anyway, Del Rio asked Kane what he was doing there but Kane just attacked him. Kane had Alberto on the ropes but out came Kofi Kingston and he eliminated both Kane and Alberto Del Rio.

After Kofi Kingston celebrated in the ring, Kane and Alberto Del Rio surrounded Kofi. Rey Mysterio quickly came out to even the odds. Vickie Guerrero then made a tag match between the two of them.

    Final Result: No Contest.

Alberto Del Rio & Kane vs Rey Mysterio & Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Champion)

This match was okay. Kane got worked on early and Alberto Del Rio got mad at him because he didn't tag him in. They regrouped and worked over Rey and Kofi pretty well.

However, Kofi got the upper hand later in the match and even attacked Kane, knocking him off the apron. Alberto Del Rio went for a tag, but Kane wasn't there. Del Rio got mad at Kane some more, so Kane came in and gave Alberto Del Rio a boot to the face and walked away.

Alberto was shocked and while he was distracted. Kofi carried Rey and Rey kicked Alberto to the ropes and got hit with a 619. Alberto Del Rio turned around and got hit with the Trouble in Paradise and lost the match.

Final Result: Rey Mysterio & Kofi Kingston by pinfall.

    Big Show Segment

Big Show came out and talked about how he never won the Rumble before. He said a guy his size, he is a huge target. He mentioned how he got attacked by The Corre 2 weeks ago and that they made a huge mistake. Big Show said you don't want to piss him off. Out came The Corre and the four of them made their way to the ring.

The Corre have t-shirts now! And boy are they ugly.. ugh =\

Big Show taunted each one of them telling them to man up and fight him one on one. He focused his attention on Ezekiel Jackson mostly but then Heath Slater attacked Big Show. So apparently, Heath Slater is going to fight Big Show.

Big Show vs Heath Slater w/The Corre

Poor Heath Slater. He got murdered in this match. Big Show took care of him in like 2 minutes and won with the chokeslam.

Final Result: Bigshow wins by pinfall.

Edge (World Heavyweight Champion) & Randy Orton vs The Miz (WWE Champion) w/Alex Riley & Dolph Ziggler

Another standard tag match. They did a pretty good job keeping their opponents away from each other for the most part. In this match, we mostly saw Orton fighting Ziggler and Edge fighting Miz.

The finish came when Orton and The Miz fought to the outside and Edge speared Dolph Ziggler to get the victory.

Final Result: Edge & Randy Orton (Rated RKO) by pinfall.

After the match, Vickie Guerrero was fuming and she got on the mic and told Edge that the spear is banned. If Edge uses the spear at the Royal Rumble, he'll be disqualified and Dolph Ziggler will win the World Heavyweight Championship. Edge nodded his head as if he understood... but he was pissed. So he proceeded to Spear Ziggler 3 more times to end the show.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

So there you have it! I hope you guys are all caught up with the storyline. I'm extremely excited for the Royal Rumble. Predictions coming up later tonight.
