I watch TNA from time to time, heck I watch a lot of wrestling and a lot of different promotions.

I'm just not a fan of Hogan, Bischoff, Dixie, Russo or the Hardy's I am a fan of AJ Styles, MCMG, Young Bucks, Samoa Joe to name a few.

I am curious to see how this new stable that AJ is leading will turn out.

I don't watch TNA. I used to but it's pretty ridiculous in terms of quality for me. The wrestling can be nice but I think they "over use" a lot of the moves.

WWE Wrestling is pretty standard in my book and if you pull off 2-3 amazing moves in a PPV match, it makes the match look great. Trying to watch TNA, they do these amazing moves almost every grapple and it seems extremely forced, which can make a finish look weak.

I dunno, that's just me though. *shrug*

Smile Friday Night Smackdown Review - 02/04/11

Friday Night Smackdown Review - 02/04/11

This show was pretty average. We got Booker T on the announce team replacing Matt Striker. I personally don't really like the change but hopefully Booker T will get better as time passes on.

Booker T joins announce team segment

"Can you dig it, sucka?!" Booker T's music hits and out he comes to start Smackdown. He gets in the ring and treats fans to a Spin-a-Roonie before going to the announce table.

I was really disappointed with this change because I really enjoyed Matt Striker's commentary. Like I mentioned before.. Cole is 100% heel, Mathews is 100% face, and Striker was 60% heel/40% face. It was a good balance.

Booker T was 100% face... Didn't really like that. We don't need two people arguing with Cole all the time do we?

Vickie Guerrero, Dolph Ziggler, Kelly Kelly, LayCool, and Edge segment

Vickie is the Acting General Manager now since Teddy is "dead" or whatever. She announced a bunch of Elimination Chamber qualifying matches for the show.

But first, she had some business to handle. She called out Kelly Kelly to explain her actions at the Rumble where she attacked Vickie for no reason. Kelly Kelly came out and was pretty decent on the mic. Apparently she's pissed that Vickie is power hungry and that Vickie picks on her backstage.

Ziggler gets in Kelly Kelly's face but got slapped. LayCool ran down to attack her but Edge made the save.

Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov (WWE Tag Team Champions) w/Tamina vs Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater

Again, I have to complain here... WWE once again puts the Tag Champs in a match against potential #1 contenders. Stop that!

Gabriel and Slater made short work on Kozlov as they won with the 450 splash.

Final Result: Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater by pinfall.

Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Drew McIntyre vs Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Champion)

Pretty solid match. It reminded me of their feud for the IC belt and these two work well together. It was a back and forth match but the finish came when Kofi Kingston got the upper hand. He was about to hit the Trouble in Paradise but Alberto Del Rio showed up on the titantron and distracted Kofi.

Kofi turned around and Drew McIntyre took him down and then finished him off with the Future Shock DDT to qualify for the Elimination Chamber! Good one Drew!

Final Result: Drew McIntyre by pinfall.

Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Rey Mysterio vs Jack Swagger

Poor Swagger. He can't stop jobbing to Rey.

I liked that they allowed Swagger to dominate most of the match but he always end up looking foolish because the "ultimate underdog" always finds a way to win.

Rey defeated Swagger with a spinning DDT and a kick to the head.

Final Result: Rey Mysterio wins by pinfall.

Alberto Del Rio's Royal Rumble Celebration segment

Hornswoggle and Rosa Mendes came out first. Alberto Del Rio then made his grand entrance. He had a Wrestlemania pinata hung above the ring. He invited Hornswoggle to this celebration because he wanted him to swing at it.

Hornwoggle was blindfolded and he couldn't hit the pinata because it was too high up. He swung and hit Alberto right in the balls though. Ouch. Alberto got pissed and kicked Hornswoggle's head in and it was great!!!

Kofi Kingston then made the save but Alberto retreated. What was hilarious was that Booker T said Alberto should "man up" and face Kofi. Well, Alberto did just that. He ran back in the ring while Ricardo Rodriguez distracted Kofi and attacked him.

Alberto Del Rio finished the segment by giving Kofi the Cross Armbreaker submission. Michael Cole was even saying, "You wanted him to come back Booker!"

Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Chavo Guerrero vs Kane

Chavo Guerrero, the most mis-used wrestler in the WWE. Squash match here. Chavo got in like 2 moves before Kane gave him a chokeslam.

    Final Result: Kane by pinfall.

Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Wade Barrett w/The Corre vs Big Show

Big Show got in some offense early on but The Corre went to work by distracting the ref. Big Zeke gave Big Show a huge clothesline and Barrett went for the pin but Show kicked out! Wade Barrett then picked up Big Show and gave him a DDT and won the match. After the match, The Corre attacked Big Show some more and it ended with Big Zeke giving him a bodyslam.

Show vs Jackson at the Elimination Chamber most likely.

Final Result: Wade Barrett by pinfall.

So there you have it. Your six competitors for the World Heavyweight Title inside the Elimination Chamber. Edge (C) vs Dolph Ziggler vs Drew McIntyre vs Kane vs Wade Barrett vs Rey Mysterio. 3 faces and 3 heels.

3 on 2 Mixed Tag Handicapped World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge (World Heavyweight Champion) & Kelly Kelly vs Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero & LayCool

If Kelly Kelly loses the match, Edge loses his world title. They shoved this down our faces which means Kelly Kelly will win. Before the match started, Vickie once again banned Edge's Spear. If Edge uses the spear, then he loses the World Title also.

Vickie is really abusing her power isn't she?

Edge started the match against Dolph and took control easily. Dolph eventually made the tag which meant Kelly Kelly had to tag in. They played up the whole, "Edge can't do anything now" scenario.

LayCool pretty much dominated Kelly Kelly but Kelly did get in some offense. The finish came when Edge and Ziggler fought on the outside. Kelly Kelly managed to fend off Michelle and then she gave Layla... the Spear!

Kelly Kelly goes for the cover and retains the World Heavyweight Championship for Edge.

Final Result: Edge & Kelly Kelly retain the World Heavyweight Championship by pinfall.

Vickie was really pissed off at thie point so she grabbed a mic, got in the ring and fired Kelly Kelly. Then Kelly Kelly bursted into tears out of nowhere and slowly walked backstage while Vickie screamed at her to get out of the arena.

Edge just looked on and then Ziggler gave him a Zig Zag. Vickie Guerrero then said that next week on Smackdown, Ziggler will face Edge 1 on 1 for the World Title yet again. This time, she'll be the special guest referee.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure where they're going with the Kelly Kelly angle. She's actually interesting to watch (and not just to look at) for once. She had zero interactions with Drew McIntyre but you can bet that she's aggressive because of him.

I can see Teddy Long eventually re-hiring Kelly Kelly when he returns. Either that or maybe Drew McIntyre can ask Vickie to re-hire Kelly Kelly. Vickie can say no, and then McIntyre can turn face by attacking Ziggler on during his title match because Vickie wouldn't re-hire Kelly.

Im a huge Styles and Christopher Daniels fan and I just love watching young talent work with no restrictions when it comes to move-sets, AJ's stable isn't new they been around for the majority of 2010 but them changing to face is new, it will be very interesting where they will go with this.

Very true, but since TNA is a 8-year company they had to pretty much pull off these unbeilevable moves after unbeilevable moves to get exposure and keep the viewers interest I guess. Lately its been how you said where they will do a few cool moves and call it a day unless its the X-Division or sometimes the tag-division depends whos working the match.

I watch TNA because I'm a workrate nerd and love Flair.

But with the addition of Hogan and Bischoff, in addition to Russo it's made the "sports entertainment lite" angles worse.

That and the whole company is wrapped around getting Jeff Jarrett over as a main eventer.

I agree. That's probably one more reason as to why TNA is not working for me. Too many shows in the Impact Zone. It really takes away a "PPV feel" when it's held in the same venue over and over.

Smackdown review coming up... I'm not going to waste my time with the review of RAW from last week. That show was terrible. The only thing worth mentioning from RAW was...

    - R-Truth telling "Green Bay" What's up only to get booed big time.

I'm pissed at myself for not going to RAW in Anaheim tonight. The most electrifying man in sports entertainment has come back.
Doug Fresh and Dexter like this.
