Have to say that I haven't seen The Rock so pumped up for a promo in a long time.
Have to say that I haven't seen The Rock so pumped up for a promo in a long time.
Do yourselves a favor and pick up "A Lion's Tale" by Chris Jericho, it is as good if not better than Mick Foley's books. Currently $6 over at Barnes and Noble in the value books section. They also have Bret Hart's book "Hitman" for $7 but I thought it might be a bit depressing in comparison.
Apologies to those who look forward to my review/thoughts. Haven't had much time the past few weeks to type them up with the Spring semester starting up and I also have work to deal with.
I have been watching Smackdown but not RAW since the Kings have played at Staples on Monday night the past few weeks. I did indeed catch The Rock and Cena's jabs at each other.
As for the reviews, the next one will be a RAW Review from this past Monday night. I'm still watching it (in parts on Youtube) so I'm not completely done yet.
If you're unaware so far... the card currently looks like this for Wrestlemania XXVII.
Undertaker vs HHH
WWE Championship Match: The Miz (C) vs John Cena
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge (C) vs Alberto Del Rio
Randy Orton vs CM Punk
Jerry Lawler vs Michael Cole w/ Jack Swagger. Stone Cold Steve Austin is the Special Guest Referee

Monday Night RAW Review - 03/07/11
There was hardly any wrestling on Monday's show.. but then again, it's been like that for weeks now for both RAW and Smackdown.
Undertaker segment
The Undertaker has a new song now. Not sure what it's called but it's the, "There ain't no grave, that can hold my body down" song.
To my surprise, there are lots of signs in the crowd that are pro-HHH. Undertaker can still cut a decent promo as long as he gets straight to the point. He showed a video promo on the titantron showing him destroying HBK at the last two Wrestlemanias. Apparently he can make the match stipulation and said it'll be No Holds Barred.
Randy Orton vs David Otunga
So every week Orton has to fight a New Nexus member. If Orton defeats that member, that person is banned from ringside for Orton vs Punk at Wrestlemania. I believe Orton already took out McGillicutty and Husky Harris with the punt to the head. I don't like what they're doing to the New Nexus at all.
Maybe CM Punk isn't cut out to be a "leader". The SES had so much potential but they did absolutely nothing with Luke Gallows, Joseph Mercury, and Serena. The same thing is happening here with the New Nexus. After Punk took the reign over Wade Barrett, the New Nexus has done absolutely nothing. That group is just a complete joke now which is unfortunate.
Before this match, the New Nexus destroyed Orton backstage and even dragged him to the ring for this match. Otunga hit some moves on Orton but couldn't get the pinfall win. Orton just hits the RKO out of nowhere and pins Otunga with ease. Then Otunga gets punted in the head as well.
Seeing as all the members of the New Nexus are getting punted in the head, I think the chances of them feuding with The Corre at Wrestlemania is slim to none. I'm certain that Mason Ryan will be in Punk's corner though, just so he could have one member at ringside.
Final Result: Randy Orton by pinfall.
Christian vs Brodus Clay w/Alberto Del Rio
Christian shows up on RAW and wants revenge on Alberto Del Rio for putting him on the shelf. Alberto Del Rio sent Brodus Clay after him instead. I have to ask... why have Brodus Clay in his corner NOW? When NXT is over?
When NXT season 4 was still around, Alberto Del Rio hardly "mentored" the guy because he never cared about NXT himself. Suddenly it's over and he shows up with Alberto Del Rio?
The match was pretty bland. Christian sold some of Brodus Clay's moves but ultimately won with a Tornado DDT of all moves.
Final Result: Christian wins by pinfall.
After the match, Alberto Del Rio attacked Christian and put him in the Cross Armbreaker again. Edge didn't come out to save him.
Divas Championship Match: Eve (Divas Champion) w/Gail Kim vs Nikki Bella w/Brie Bella
This match had potential until Michael Cole got on the mic.I understand that we're all suppose to hate Cole and that he's a super heel and more. I get that, and I'm a fan of him. But for him to flat out say something like "no one cares about the Divas match" during a CHAMPIONSHIP match? That shows how much Vince McMahon cares about the Women's division.
The match eventually came to an end though when the twins tried to switch but the refs caught them. Eve then retained using a move I don't quite remember...
Final Result: Eve retains the Divas Championship by pinfall.
Michael Cole, JBL, Stone Cold segment
The crowd knows Austin is in the building (heck, they advertised him for tonight). Cole did a great job in tricking the crowd thinking the special guest referee will be Austin but instead out came JBL. I totally marked out for this because JBL is a WRESTLING GOD!
When JBL talked on the mic, it brought back lots of good memories as to how good he is at cutting a promo. This guy certainly has the charisma to get the crowd to hate him. Cole had a contract in his hand and all JBL had to do was sign it to be the ref for Cole vs Lawler. When JBL kept talking and talking, you knew he wasn't going to sign it.
Austin came out to a huge pop. Couldn't help but noticed he did his usual middle finger pose at the turnbuckles. The camera accidently showed it when he went to the first turnbuckle but then they zoomed in some more and only showed Austin up to his wrist for the rest of the shots.
Basically, Austin stuns JBL and drinks a bunch of beer while Cole got back on the headset to complain. Austin signed the contract and poured beer on Cole. JBL eventually got up only to get stunned again and Austin drank more beer.
It was a typical Austin segment that is fun to watch since we don't get these kinds of segments anymore.
Daniel Bryan (United States Champion) vs Sheamus
Sheamus jobs some more and loses by countout really quickly because he "hurt his leg". Not sure what he did to deserve this but okay...
Final Result: Daniel Bryan by countout.
After the match, Sheamus got on the mic and said he's sick of this. He said he challenges Daniel Bryan for the US Title next week. If he loses, he quits WWE. I guess this means Sheamus will be the new US Champ next week.
CM Punk vs R-Truth
Didn't care about this match at all. R-Truth lost easily. Let's just leave it at that.
Final Result: CM Punk by submission.
Dolph Ziggler vs John Morrison
Dolph Ziggler returns to action and he's on the RAW Roster now after having been fired by Teddy Long about 2-3 weeks ago. Vickie Guerrero was out for commentary and she says her relationship with Dolph is a "professional" one now.
Morrison and Ziggler put on a pretty good match. They weren't given a lot of time though. Ziggler won with the Zig Zag.
Final Result: Dolph Ziggler by pinfall.
After the match, Vickie got in the ring to celebrate with Dolph. The RAW GM said that he only hired Dolph, not Vickie. The GM said that if Vickie wants a job, she needs to defeat Trish Stratus next week on RAW.
John Cena segment
Cena did another rap on The Rock. Pretty funny stuff here. I especially liked Cena's t-shirt of The Rock that says "I bring it via satellite". After Cena's promo on The Rock, The Miz attacked him out of nowhere. The Miz laid him out with the WWE Title twice. He gave him the Skull Crushing Finale and even gave Cena the People's Elbow. Great stuff from The Miz to end RAW.

Friday Night Smackdown Review - 03/11/11
Got some catching up to do...
Edge, Alberto Del Rio, Brodus Clay, and Christian segment
Edge came out to start Smackdown and talked about the contract signing and stuff. Just hyping up Wrestlemania and all that. Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay came out and attacked Edge but Christian came out for the save.
Teddy Long then made a tag match as the main event.
Kane vs Wade Barrett
This feud is pretty interesting. Basically, The Corre have been attacking Big Show and they even tried recruiting Kane to join the group. When Kane refused, The Corre attacked him as well. This match here wasn't really a match. The Corre was supposedly banned from ringside but they came out anyway and ambushed Kane. This got Wade Barrett DQed and they went to a commercial break.
Final Result: Kane by DQ.
Big Show & Kane vs Wade Barrett & Heath Slater
After the commercial break, it's now a tag match. Again, it wasn't much of a match as The Corre got themselves DQed intentionally because they wanted to beat down on Kane and Big Show. As Kane was getting beat up, Big Show managed to get out of the ring and grab a chair. He then hit Big Zeke with the chair. Wade Barrett had a chair of his own but Big Show punched him with it. After The Corre cleared out of the ring, Big Show hit Kane with a chair as well. Mostly because Kane hit Big Show with a chair the week before.
Final Result: Big Show & Kane by DQ.
Cody Rhodes vs JTG
Squash match here for Cody. It's interesting to see this new gimmick from Cody. He wears a face mask now to sell his broken nose, but he's using it as a weapon instead. Very cool to see. Also, Cody Rhodes doesn't go by "Dashing" anymore and he wrestles in a suit...
Final Result: Cody Rhodes by pinfall.
Michael Cole, John Cena, & Jack Swagger segment
Cole called this the "Interview of the Year"Basically, Cole rubbed it in Cena's face on how Miz owned him for 2-3 weeks now. And I guess Cole was trying to ambush Cena or something. He had the All American American Jack Swagger try to attack Cena but got hit with the Attitude Adjustment for his troubles.
Layla vs Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn on Smackdown!! Mostly because they were in Houston and she's the local girl. She got in some moves on Layla but ended up losing. They teased a LayCool breakup for weeks now but now they suddenly made up. Mostly because Michelle is still injured and they will have a Wrestlemania match together.
Final Result: Layla by pinfall.
Rey Mysterio vs Drew McIntyre
Poor McIntyre... his story with Kelly Kelly seem to have disappeared for no reason. =\ After Kelly Kelly got fired and re-hired, they forgot about it. He put on a good match but jobbed to Rey Mysterio in the end. Mysterio won with the 619 and Splash off the top rope.
Final Result: Rey Mysterio by pinfall.
After the match, Rey Mysterio accepted Cody Rhodes's challenge for Wrestlemania XXVII.
HHH Segment
HHH is on Smackdown! He just talked about the match real quick. He had a promo air on the titantron showing what he can do. He then thanked Undertaker for making the match No Holds Barred.
Edge & Christian vs Alberto Del Rio & Brodus Clay
Standard Tag Match. Brodus Clay did most of the fighting here. Christian really sold Brodus Clay's attacks, as did Edge. Great job making the new guy look good. The finish came when Christian gave Brodus a Tornado DDT and then Edge hit a Elbow drop off the top rope to win the match. I was very surprised that the Elbow Drop was the "finishing move".
Final Result: Edge & Christian by pinfall.
