Thread: WWE RAW, Smackdown, & PPV Discussion Thread 2012 & 2013

It's not really Laurinaitis that is making WWE suck so bad right now. It's John Cena and the "OMG, CAN HE OVERCOME THE ODDS?!" thing they're doing over and over and over. It's done to death. Then again, Laurinaitis is part of that storyline, so I guess he does get part of the blame. But the fact that this Cena crap gets main event billing over the WWE and World Heavyweight Title for 4-5 months now, that's over the line.

Also, the WWE has an extremely thin roster right now with all the injuries and suspensions.

Don't get me started with the mis-use of their talents either.

Drew McIntyre, Zack Ryder, Tyson Kidd, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Santino Marella, Curt Hawkins, Alex Riley, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater... the list goes on and on. You have 4 hours of TV per week (soon to be 5) and they still can't get on the damn show? What the hell is going on?

The only great thing about WWE right now is that CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Kane, and AJ storyline going. The rest of it, I swear... they've given up and are just coasting. Right now people are literally begging TNA to do something right and give WWE some competition. RAW last night was about as watchable as WCW Thunder. That's how bad it was.

I normally like Smackdown a lot more than RAW, but now it's no different. Sure, they showcase some of the newer guys like Ryback, Antonio Cesaro, Damien Sandow, etc. But it's literally squash match after squash match.

WWE needs to get one simple thing through their heads... we need storylines and feuds for EVERY wrestler. You need to give people a reason to care. /rant over.

I was watching some old Raw's from 1999-2001 time and there was one main difference I noticed. Before and after almost every commercial break there was a quick backstage segment. anywhere from 15 to 90 seconds. Things like Mick Foley as commissioner, or the APA poker game, GTV....ect.
I think if they had more backstage segments, the audience will then start to actually care about some of the other wrestlers and not see how fast they can start a boring chant when it is people they dont really know.

Big problem right now is Vince/Steph decision making. Back in the attitude era, they had Vince Russo write stuff and Vince would approve it or decline it, and McMahon didnt give a rat's ass if the USA Network or TNN/Spike TV would fine them for 'strong TV'. Now, they went back to the 1980's PG style.. although it seems they are trying to find a happy medium between PG and Attitude, but they have like 15 people writing stuff and that just doesnt work. How many times have we seen gimmicks that start and they get dropped quickly? I remember the Nation of Domination, Dx, etc that would last years... the best thing thats happened in years was The Nexus, what did they do with it? it went from a group thing to a Wade Barrett thing (dont get me wrong, i think hes one of the Top 3 future stars), but the rest of the group faded... then they move the Nexus to CM Punk and it was over before that could even get started.

Orton is another problem... backstage complaints have drown WWE for years and they decided to make him a superstar, now Vince has a decision to make.... cuz hes one suspension away from being fired.... same as Rey.

Cena? im not a fan of him, but credt goes to him... ppl hate him, yet he's still a face.... THAT right there makes him succesful all alone... he gets the crowd involved... remember the old 'rocky sucks?' Plus, Cena has one quality that alot of wrestlers lack these days... he can fight a short/ fast guy like Rey, or a big/heavy guy like Show, and make both look good. But i cant even begin to say how many times i see Cena and go "ughh, John Cena again" then at match's end i go "this wasnt bad at all" Oh and why the **** did WWE drop the Cena/Ryder/Eve love triangle so quickly is beyond me.

Punk? was great mid/late last year... but up until the AJ story... he seemed lost.

Kane? what was the whole point of getting the mask back? was it cuz he's ugly? was it to make him seem more menacing? no... it was to sell merchandise!

then theres my biggest complaint, Drew McIntyre... why the hell? and what the hell? why is this guy not being pushed? cant be cuz of the accent cuz Wade has it too. I see him as a 1996 version of Triple H, Vince liked him, so did Triple H.... so why is this guy in the dumpster right now? Is he being punished for the Tiffany incident? history tells us this could be it BUT... a punishment like that has never carried on for a year and a half. Triple H was punsihed back in '96 for the MSG Curtain Call incident... he lost every match from May 96 to Oct 96 (funny cuz he was scheduled to win the 96 King of the Ring instead of Austin) ... losing to the likes of Bob Holly, a old Jake Roberts, The Stalker & Tom Brandi. And that I considered to be a bigger issue than the Tiffany thing. Whats really scary about the Drew McIntyre thing is.... Hunter kept his blue blood persona throughout the losing streak... Drew has been switched around to a mean looking guy, to a whining guy, to a person trying to taunt the crowd, to a gay persona (they tried this in South America earlier this year)... that right there tells you they just dont know what to do with the guy... but the problem is... hes just been taken off the TV completely. Bring back the Drew we havent seen since Elimination Chamber 2011!

Also, Damien Sandow could become someone big in the WWE in years to come, ijs

New NXT season started and it looks like something I might actually watch! JR on commentary and Dusty Rhodes as GM? Sweet.



Just a great show. Tyson Kidd really should be on the main show.

Well Triple H was dorking the bosses daughter so that either means Drew might want to start dorking Shane or Linda? but yeah it's annoying how Drew McIntyre isn't in the same VIP "Kiss My Ass club" like John Cena is.

PS. Really loving this AJ skit that they have going on. 99% of the time I just wanted to see the Divas bend over on stage but AJ's crazy chick acting has been funny.

Has there been any action tonight? Just squash match city. Plus we don't want to see Cole and Lawler EVER again in the ring.

After a really strong segment to start RAW with AJ, Punk, and Bryan... it went downhill... FAST.

THIS is the "go-home" show before the PPV? 30+ minutes altogether devoted to Lawler vs Cole? Seriously? And you wonder why ratings are down. I have never been so disappointed ever.

Also, did the Cena/Kane vs JeriShow tag match seriously end in a DQ because the illegal tag member interrupted a pinfall attempt? WTF?
